I think there may have been two spirits in progress, the one that you started, and one someone else was doing that you stumbled into. I think the game was trying to get you to finish them both? You are right, you absolutely can collect multiple spirits in each area before each temple. Anyway, hope that helps! Forest Elder is admittedly a bit of an intense personality compared to the first two you’ve met in Isle and Prairie. 😂 You’re doing great! I won’t spoil anything, just say it’s a game that takes a while to piece together as you go, and it lends itself to further play after the main story arc. There’s quite a bit to explore, to the point where you’re bound to miss some things on a first play through.
