One of my favourites were my version of the Barbarian been a female Nord raised by a lumber mail working father and a mother who were a huntress in a small Nord Village near Bruma and was near enough raised on stories of heroes and stories of ancestors who were warriors, which that set her on the path of wanting to be a hero so her father taught her to wield a greatsword and helped her develop her strength and endurance, then her mother taught her to skin animals and beasts she's fought then turning them to sturdy but warm armours, she even wore a Dragon Plate Helmet and used the great sword, with Saviour's hide, forsworn boots and stormcloak officer gauntlets

I agree. My current playthrough is a scholarly, law-abiding High Elf mage who only cares about knowledge and academia, however she just discovered the Oghma Infinium and now her thirst for knowledge seems to be taking her down a dark path (ie quest for the daedric artifacts).

I do that same thing without realizing. I use A LOT of armor mods. The more primitive builds with more barbarian esque and rough armor will be a brutish dickhead but also massively intimidating. If you're wearing really regal heroic armor my character tends to be more noble/kind. I don't ever fully roleplay (like making my own backstory for the character) but that's how I got a lot of enjoyment out of skyrim for a long time.

I always end up becoming a "good guy" no matter how I try to be.
I'm going to try to fix that by making a forsworn, hircine worshipper that only uses bone and fur armours and basically anything natural. Whilst focusing on Conjuration, Alchemy and one handed/archery. Because of being forsworn every option is violence and also nord hate.

My own favorite so far was my paladin. She was a holy paladin serving Arkay.
Shiny heavy armor, shield & sword or mace, enchanting, & enough alchemy to make healing potions & cures.
I always carried Amulets of Arkay with me, & when I found dead npcs, especially like caravans who were attacked, I would leave an amulet on them so Arkay could find them & escort them to whichever afterlife they would be going to.
Absolutely hated necromancers & vampires, went out of my way to kill them.

I love the idea for an "alternate start" to be available to players in the vanilla game. Though it would be really cool if this only became available to players after the experienced the canonical, and best designed vanilla intro. Once a player has gone through the intro once and starts the game, then alternate start becomes available. This way players wouldn't ever miss out on the coolest opening by never choosing a character who starts with whatever one my be the coolest.

Even if Bethesda doesn't go for that they could compromise and allow you to fast travel to major cities right away like in Oblivion. Want to roleplay as an Altmer fresh off the boat from Alinor? Then fast travel to the docks of Daggerfall or Hegathe right away
Edit: I forgot to add this would only be effective if they let you remake your character at the end of the intro so you can skip it on future playthroughs

Major skills-one hand, sneak, light armour, block, archery, destruction, alteration, illusion, enchanting, alchemy and conjuration
Gear-Apprentice robes/apprentice hood, stormcloak boots/gauntlets, targe of the blooded and lots of weapons; advanced crossbow/Dwarven bolts, Blades katana, enchanted silver sword, dragonbone mace, Dragonbone sword, Nordic dagger and Reikling spears (for aesthetic) and a couple other things.
Because his goal (backstory...antihero, morally grey, hunter of everything evil, you know...role playing) is to amass as much power as possible I joined the Companions, Thieves guild, Dark brotherhood, College of Winterhold and Dawnguard! xD

My favorite character is cryogenic warrior, breton with heavy armor (eventually stahlrim) with a battleaxe, frost destruction magic, restoration magic, enchanting, smithing and as you max out those skill trees you start investing in other trees to round out your preferences, like speech, alteration, archery, one handed, block, eventually rounding out every perk tree around level 300. Role playing as a do it all gray man legendary adventurer whose end goal is to finally say “I’ve done it all.” Every quest, every unique item, every faction, every house, every inch of skyrim explored, every play style tinkered with in some form or fashion. And then finally going into retirement after getting married and adopting a kid. Occasionally reinstalling to scratch the adventuring bandit terrorizing itch. A build actually inspired by your cryomancer from way back that just wormed it’s way into my heart. One of my all time favorite playstyles that came from you guys was actually the Dreamweaver build. Yeah, it may have relied on ordinator and apocalypse magic, but oh my God it was such a unique way to approach combat. Fury spells to open the fight from stealth watch the carnage, then move in and calm the victors, take the stronger ones with rally and the buffs that gave, and use the clones and reaper comes to take out the rest before moving on to the next fight. Did it take longer than run in hack and slash or fling destro spells, or killing everything with a bow from 200 yds without ever entering combat? Yes. Was it entirely worth every second? Also big yes. It was the singular buid that truly showed me the power of illusion magic and what made it my favorite school of elder scrolls magic. I've played so so many of your guys' fallout and skyrim builds over the years, and it's made every playthrough something special. Thank you so much for all the hard work you both do. Ridiculously capable in all situations. Muffle/Invis up to a group of enemies, drop a double-cast Frenzy into their midst, and once they begin murdering each other, send in the summoned help and mop up with AE damage spells. Situations like that really feel great. As does standing before a dragon, merely holding up a hand to deflect all of its breath weapon before using the Lightning Storm beam of dragon annihilation to bring the beast down.

Love the "Fallen Summoner" (one of my own creation). A little Breton girl is so very excited to go to the College of Winterhold and learn Conjuration. Her little Familiar spell is decent enough, but after being unable to defend herself with it and getting dragged to Helgen in an Imperial ambush, she knows that she needs to know more. Getting to the College, and using Atronachs to become Archmage, her thirst for knowledge remains unquenched. On the revelation that she is Dragonborn, she dips a toe into shouts, but they aren't part of her combat style. Going through the Main storyline, she eventually runs into Hermaeus Mora. The knowledge offered is too good to pass up, and she agrees to be the Champion of Apochrypha. (With the mod "Coldharbour Resummoned" you begin to summon unique Daedra with unique armor and robes and staves to go along with the look, and it is the main reason to do the Dawnguard DLC). Her knowledge increases as she goes deeper and darker into "forbidden knowledge". When the Dragonborn DLC is started, she feels drawn to fight Miraak. And the Black Books provide even more forbidden knowledge, she will find them all and use them all. Willfully sacrificing Storn to get the last word of Bend Will and defeating Miraak. She says goodbye to the physical world, and immediately returns to a Black Book. She spends the rest of her unnatural life pursuing ever more forbidden knowledge (the last save you make before starting another character is inside of a Black Book). Certain mods can be added for flavor of armor or physical marks or tattoos to make the corruption more real.

Whenever I play skyrim, I always incorporate magic into it because I love magic. My most recent builds:
    1) Sun Mage - Dunmer Restoration (heal/sun spells)/Destruction (Fire spells) /Illusion (Courage)
    2) bound blizzard archer - Dest (frost cloak, blizzard), conjuration, light armor (Stahlrim light)
    3) Scarlet witch/ Eldritch build - Illusion (Frenzy), Alteration (telekinesis), Destruction (absorb health/ hangman’s noose), Conjuration (Summon seeker)

I find a paladin build to be very fun
Currently doing a paladin of Dibella build where the very first quest I did was finding the Sybil and then doing the “good” endings of some of the daedric quests.
Her four skills i’m focusing on are one handed, restoration, archery, and light armor, alongside slight investment into block and conjuration, The idea is that dibella would like her followers to deal with opponents at range, as to not be tarnished by the blood of their enemies, not for any ritualistic reason, but because blood can ruin beauty. However, if pressed, dibellan paladins are skilled sworddancers, who’s goal is to make every battle appear as if a dance.
Her focus on restoration is so she can preserve the beauty of her lovers and companions, as well as allows her to destroy the ugly and unholy abominations of the undead, and light armor grants her protection while also making her a nimble acrobat.
Finally block and conjuration, even dibella recognizes that, while imperfect in terms of beauty, that a shield can be useful, and so her followers use it as such. And conjuration is used to occasionally conjure spectral blades, as even deep in prayer a dibellan paladin must be ready to defend themselves.
Along with winter sun, apocalypse and ordinator, this build is probably some of the most fun I’ve had playing this game in a long time

my favorite build was my first way back in 2011-2012. just a pure warrior orc. I maxed out every martial stat and was invincible in melee combat. Dealing with magic on the other hand was impossible but offered a unique challenge. it's amazing how quick a fight goes when you and the enemy kill each other in 2 hits and it just becomes a waiting game

  • @mario6148

I think that when you've played this game enough times, you want your build to have enough flexibility to stave off the monotony.
The most fun veteran build ive done is an illusion assassin. The pacify spell can allow you to hear lines of dialogue from an otherwise aggressive NPC that you probably hadnt heard before. The fury spell can be a lot of fun obviously. And then turning invisible, and then slitting the throat of your enemy, casting a fury spell, then becoming invisible again is just such a badass playstyle. so many options.

For the sake of simplicity I just adapt the characters builds from Morrowind to Skyrim and play them: Warrior, Thief, Mage, Battlemage, Agent, Witchhunter, Spellsword, Pilgrim, Crusader, etc.
It gives me a vibe of playing a specific "profession" within the game.

There's one character I've been trying to make for a long time. Anniversary Edition has made it better, but I still can't get there yet. Here's how it goes.
I call this type of build a Phase-Build, as the play style changes as the game progresses. (You don't need to read all of this.)
    Here's the backstory:
My character is named Uriel, after the Emperor. He is a mix of many different races with dominant Altmer blood who lived through the Oblivion Crisis as a child with his sister. His sister has dominant Imperial Blood but still has the long life of an Elf. Both of them became Imperial Soldiers who eventually fought in the Great War. When the war was lost, Uriel was forced into the Ranks of the Thalmor due to his dominant Altmer blood, while his sister was hunted down and fled to Skyrim, never returning. After a long time in the Thalmor Army, Uriel chose to follow the path of his sister and ventured off to Skyrim. His sister told him exactly where she was heading to and as he searched for that location, he was caught in an ambush. You know the rest.
    Phase 1 (Wanting Peace):
After escaping Helgen, Uriel wishes nothing more than to find where his sister went and to just live peacefully. She told him that she would leave her helmet and sword where Talos would watch over it. It would be in a place that was most similar to Cyrodiil while also lost in the mountains. He quickly found the sword and helmet, this time with no interruptions, under the shrine of Talos that is right above Froki's shack. Yes, his sister's helmet is one of the rare imperial helmets. After Uriel finds it, he heads forth to Riften to be a fisherman. He finishes all the quests, but along his journey, he meets a man in Riften that offers him a deal that could lead to many riches. That man is of course Brynjolf. Uriel turns down the offer, however. He's not level 46 yet. (Gotta get the BEST stuff!)
    Phase 2 (Becoming a Hero):
After lots of fishing, Uriel finally has the urge to fight again. He met a friend in Riverwood earlier, Faendal, who would love to join him. The two become the bane of all bandits, striking them all down. Soon enough, they think it's time to help with the Dragons. The main questline will go on until the Dragons start spawning.
    Phase 3 (Falling into Darkness):
Knowing that he is Dragonborn, Uriel chooses to travel even further through Skyrim. He soon gets caught up in a fight with some wolves, giving him a disease. After hours of traveling in the snow, he and Faendal come across the Hall of the Vigilant, who cure him of his disease. He couldn't have thanked them enough and praised them for their good work. However, when he was traveling around Whiterun he learned about the Dawnguard and that the Hall of the Vigilant was destroyed. He instantly ran to the ruin and found his way to locating Worshippers of Molag Bal in Dawnstar (A new quest in the game). After dealing with them, some dark presence draws him in which influences him to put on the Corrupted Vigilant Armor and learn as much knowledge as possible. He became obsessed with magic and wanting more knowledge and power, which caused him to be infected by a Vampire. One day, the dark voice commanded him to head over to Markarth. This not only gets him caught up with helping the Forsworn, but also being corrupted by Molag Bal to be his servant.
Phase 4 (Becoming a Dark Lord):
Now a Vampire, Uriel joins the College of Winterhold and becomes Archmage, master every school of magic. Afterwards, he returns to Brynjolf and joins the thieves guild, mastering the ways of stealth and manipulation. Of course, this drew him into the Dark Brotherhood where he killed the Emperor. Throughout all of this he Carried out Molag Bal's task of collecting the Daedric Artifacts to use by serving only him. This meant that he killed his best friend to summon Boethia and to fuel the Ebony Blade. All he had to do now was eliminate the Dawnguard. His original plan was to join them and tear them apart from the inside, but that plan quickly changed.
Phase 5 (The Master of all Vampires):
After meeting the Volkihar Clan, Uriel knew he found a proper home and joined with them. After killing Harkon, Uriel became one of the most powerful people in Skyrim.
    Phase 6 (Realization):
During the questline, Serana became a very close friend to Uriel. After Harkon was slain, they both traveled across Skyrim, exploring dungeons and slaying dragons. Uriel started to feel less evil and evil everyday until he eventually looked back at what happened to Harkon. Uriel instantly realized that his desire for knowledge and power was leading him down the same path. He also knew that he and Serana could never be together. He had to leave behind everything he knew and start anew. No more Thieves Guild, no more Dark Brotherhood. After this realization, he started to turn things around. He got back to helping people. He could never make up what he did to Faendal, but he could most certainly try.
    Phase 7 (Being the Dragonborn):
Uriel started his redemption by curing his vampirism and reconnecting with the Divines. He then went to joining the Companions and getting even better at fighting. After becoming the Harbinger of the Companions, he rejoined the Empire and fought once more as a soldier. During his battles, he wore his sister's helmet in her honor. Now there was one thing left to do. The Greybeards changed his point of view on the world more than anyone else before. He got better and better at using the voice through this knowledge. After Alduin was defeated, Uriel set out to find all of the Dragon Priest masks. After he got them all and took his place as Konahrik, he set off for Solstheim. After Miraak was defeated, Uriel learned every last bit of knowledge he could. When he got back to Skyrim, he was greeted by the Ebony Warrior.
Phase 8 (Fin gein vahzah Konahrik):
Uriel traveled to the Last Vigil, where one of the most ultimate battles of all time happened. The very earth shook from every spell and shout. In the end, Uriel was victorious. He knew that his work was not done yet. Many people still require assistance. The Second Great War isn't very far away either.

You were mentioning the Lights out quest where you shoot people and they fall into the water. I would really like ES6 to have contextual animations, like you said if you’re cutting throats your character will automatically hide the body somehow depending on where they are. Just something that makes what you do a little more cinematic.

I had a playthrough recently where I played as a Khajiiti berserker, who only fought with his claws and then ate parts of his victims using the ring of Namira. And yeah you could easily make a more efficient and stronger character, but it's just fun to try out something like that every once in a while. Though I do wish that the game had some finishers for creatures, because in vanilla Skyrim unarmed only has humanoid finishers, and that doesn't eve include draugr.

I love to play as a Breton because they (in general) only help people to earn prestige and power. Wanna be the greatest thief of all time? A Breton would want the prestige. Want to be a Thane of every region? A Breton would aspire to such. Want to be the legendary dragon-slayer? A Breton would relish the fame and power. Want to become the most vile dark mage and daedric cultist? A Breton would appease the Daedric Princes for favor and power. It's why Bretons are my go-to race. Because they work with literally any build on a lore level. Any race can do anything, but Bretons really feel like the race that would do anything to get what they want, because most are only after the fame and prestige that comes with it.

Just want to put this here. But so far, I believe I've played close to every one of your builds. (Granted, I deleted a few halfway through,) not because they were bad. But I just get so excited playing one, and then I want to try another, and just jump to it. But always had to delete some cause half the time, they took up too much space on my console. 😅
But so far, may favorites that I'm still dabbing in are your,
    - Fallen King Build,
    - The Dark Crusader,
    - Both Ashlander, and the Monster Hunter, using Anniversary Edition's Survival Mode to buff up the playthrough a bit more.
    - The Sorcerer Build, I found a fun imperial name for him, and just ran with that one. Basically loved the backstory, and new stuff incorporated with AE to fill it out a bit more.
And also, one of the older builds not in the playlist, but from the early years of Skyrim Builds, the Orc Blacksmith, was another I really loved to play a bit with AE. I swapped out the Stahlrim Great Sword with the Frost Blade of the Monarch you find in the Spider's Caves, for that AE quest. And had a lot of fun.
I deleted that one though, cause I want to try and get an Xbox, for Mods, and really buff out the Backstory, and gameplay, and let it be maybe something of either an Imperial, or Stormcloak Build. Or just an Orc who travels to Bruma, to pique his interests in Ancient Architecture, outside of the Dwarven Ruins we have in regular Skyrim.
But overall. Can't say more than enough how awesome you guys make all of your builds. And looking forward to next year's celebrations. Whatever they may be. 😂🙂👍🏼
Oh! And almost forgotten the Hand of Almalexia! That one was super fun to play! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I've done so many different builds and characters, I never outright used the builds FudgeMuppet has done exactly since I either tweak it or change things for my own taste due to mods or whatever reason. They've always been great baselines for me to work off of though and my favorite will always be the Breton Paladin. Restoration/Alteration with Sword and Board heavy armor and you just become an unstoppable force that normal human enemies can't begin to hurt and then youre tailor made for the undead and daedra.

My personal character build is the "Unholy Vigil" type. She was cast from the hall due to practices that went againt what the Vigilants believed. She saw the "lesser of two evils" type deal. She wanted to rid the world of the same evil the vigilants sought to destroy, but she believed that doing certain things for the greater good was acceptable. Such as using Nevromancy to destroy a more powerful evil, or becoming one Daedric Lord's champion to in turn become powerful enough to rid the world of that same evil. Which, was a righteous goal that she used the wrong way.
I don't know though, i just really love this build.

I play a vampire Breton in Survival mode where I can only drink blood or eat corpses with Nameras ring to feed.
Very very fun and I play it with Illdaris robes, the aetherial crown, bloody foot rags and the arm bandages from storm clock camp injured people and any necklace of choice (I like the thieves guld necklace) ...
With weapons I like to pick a ser of each for every playstyle... So the ebony blade, boneshaver and harkons sword, the targe of the blooded, nettle bane and the Razor, the bow of shadows and bound quiver and only ice magic with with lots of rune spells like poison rune frenzy rune and paralysis rune and sometimes frost rune and only the inky black dawnguard skeleton summons and the ancient death priest.
Moras agony and dremora butler also make for great additions

An amazing build that's very simple to equip is one of my favorites...The Imperial Ranger. Imperial race, Imperial light armor set(either of them) but replace the helmet with a hood, Imperial bow and sword with steel arrows. Focusing on light armor/ archery/ one-handed and alchemy (to stay alive). Secondary could be speech and sneak. I love the aesthetic and feel being more realistic and less fantasy, and there's lots of gameplay revolving around the Legion, or choose to be a deserter and fight against the Legion having learned all their tactics. FUDGEMUPPET.... can you give me your opinion on this kind of build?

My favorite build for one of my platinum playthroughs was this.
    Called it a Shaman.
Basically a battlemage focused on self-buffs (alteration/restoration), Conjuration (Atronachs path) and finally a dual wield 1hander build for damage using the Elemental Fury shout as much as possible. Worked really well on Master.
Its a very powerful Werewolf build as well as most of your self-buffs and summons stick when you're transformed. Perked Ebony Flesh turns a full perked Werewolf into a battletank.
Main downside was just how squishy i'd feel at times vs physical damage if i wasn't proactive on wards since the build only has 350 armor in Human form.
And while i don't mind personally mind, i think some people would find the amount of menuing and micromanagement the build requires pretty annoying as you juggle 3 schools of magic and dual wielding constantly.
I guess the build is also pretty light on ranged damage until you get Twin Souls and/or Dragonrend which stretches the fights with Dragons a bit, a Staff of Fireball helps with that early game, a follower who's good at archery too (i used Aella for 90% of my playthrough).

When I got the PS4 I got to experience the DLC’s through both of their perspectives as well, and that was Dresden tasting power of the Thu’um and craving power, and Spearmiys began to trust people through his marriage to Ysolda, Spearmiys. Spearmiys sides with the Dawngaurd and faces Miraak with a talk no jutsu approach “power isn’t the path” Dresden sees Miraak and gets talk no jutsud

For me it is two handed spell sword because switching between spells and two handed weapons just feels right. The same thing can be done with bows for combat archers.
