- See the Meeting Owl Pro Experience For Yourself! We start the demo by showing you what the Meeting Owl Pro is not -- your typical video conferencing setup. Then we turn on the Meeting Owl Pro and show you what it's like to experience it as a remote participant.
We have 6 owls at the company, 5 pro. I only recommend the PRO version. I've been recommending Owl Labs.
One of the things we are trying to sort out is, this looks great when it is just the 4 of you talking to each other and we want a recording of a meeting, but when you have a remote attendee who talks, you all are then looking "away" from the remote speaker. Or when you are addressing the remote speaker they are also still "away" from your line of sight as you are often looking at the T. V. Do you have a typical setup that addresses this?
The same question here
This system make eye contact become more difficult lol, it’s so unnatural to see the camera without knowing the remote speaker expressions
@@connornewman1992 Exactly this. I saw an Owl at a show recently the quality is really as poor as this RUclips. They blamed ceiling lights because the camera points upwards and said it's better mounted upsidedown. I am assume dangling on a pole to be at eye level! On the stand the salesperson and the engineer assured me it doesn't matter that the 180 ceiling facing camera is only 1080p in totality, meaning the image per person can be down to CIF, because over the internet the images will be compressed anyway, really! I mentioned SVC and got blank looks. So I challenged by explaining their camera could be used side by side in a meeting with another participant using Logi Brio, say using Zoom where enterprise accounts enable up to 1080p per participant, where the resolution difference would be clear, I was shouted down! Like the MSFT Round Table this device excludes anyone from outside the room, and still invites side shots. Poor quality aside, typical video setups with camera above/below the screen place the external party at parity with people in the room with a place around the table, so when an external party speaks everyone looks at them, but with an Owl the in-room participants look to the screen not the camera.
I'm looking to shoot a talk show with this camera. Looks great! But the audio is not clean 100% Is there a way to add an external mike?
the mic has some background noise that's distracting me
Thanks for taking the time to create an actual demo of your conferencing system in use. I am looking for a conferencing solution to stream our village council meetings to Facebook live. We have been meeting virtually via Zoom due to the restrictions regarding the covid-19 pandemic. We have been streaming our virtual meetings to Facebook live and would like to continue that when we return to normal meetings in our council chambers. This looks like a good fit for our needs. Are you aware of any other local governments using this system? I would like to find examples to provide my village council to help with the decision. Regards
Hey Travis, please check out our Case Studies page for examples of all sorts of industry use-cases! www.owllabs.com/case-studies
So far our college staff is pleased with the first purchase and subsequent demo of the OWL pro. We did have a few questions though.
1. The audio quality seems to be muffled. Is there an updated firmware or settings suggestion to help correct this?
2. I saw that a few classroom settings had it mounted from the ceiling. Are there instructions, via PDF or RUclips, that we can get more information about this type of installation? We think that would be a better permanent solution instead of having it mounted to a tripod.
Once we have this one permanently set up and are satisfied with its performance, we would purchase 2-3 more, so anything you can provide us to the maximum our efforts would be great.
I’m so sorry to hear about the audio troubles! Could you reach out to us at support@owllabs.com? We’d be happy to troubleshoot this audio issue with you. Per your second question, yes, we have a handy EDU Guide that has information on how to mount the Owl to the ceiling: resources.owllabs.com/education-enablement-guide
The big question is is it worth paying £999.00?
Owl Labs Meeting Owl 3 1080P Smart Video Conferencing Camera - 360 Degree
Can you tell me more on this model?
Hello, maybe I'm making a silly question, but I would like to understand why Sophia is shown in the same "box" with Karen and why Babs and Ben are shown in a different "box", near Karen, even if Karen is not speaking. Thankyou very much for your answer.
It probably has to do with where they are sitting.
Hi Chicco! That's the Meeting Owl's smart speaker switching at work. The Meeting Owl uses AI to show up to three panels beneath the 360 degree panorama, depending on how many people are talking and how actively. You can read more about how the Meeting Owl works here: www.owllabs.com/meeting-owl
Does it work with Zoom Webinar?
I saw this on FOX news today and this would be a great solutions for schools during these challenging times.
Why does the meeting owl stare at me and show me on the big screen when I am not talking???. It was awkward LOL I moved to a different place after lunch. The camera found me and put me on the big screen again when no one in the room was talking. I am not a heavy breather and I was wearing a blue face mask. I do have pale skin with dark eyes and hair. Is the owl attracted to high contrast?
it just like you
I like how the owl chose to awkwardly stare at the woman for a long time as she awkwardly nodded along. Neat tool.
I'm guessing they had a lock on her via the app control.
Looks interesting, I’d like to see what it looks like to the zoom person on the other end... I suppose if they pin the meeting room they see something like what you showed.
The people in the room don’t have a way to see the zoom participants... unless you have a TV/ monitor? Correct?
That's correct Mark, the view starting at about 1 minute into the video is what the remote participants will see-- the 360 degree panorama on top, with the smart speaker-switching "stage" below. You must connect the Pro to a laptop or external monitor during setup, so that's where folks in the room can see the remote participants. You can check out this page for more details on setting up the Meeting Owl Pro! www.owllabs.com/meeting-owl
We will be trying out the OWL Pro tomorrow in a classroom setting, to see if it's a viable solution for our distance learning environment. I've noticed in some of the setup videos they recommend downloading the OWL app. However, since we will be connecting the OWL to a desktop PC that will not be necessary, correct? My assumption is that we would plug it in and once adapted, select the OWL camera, speaker/mic for our recording/streaming sessions. Am I correct?
Hi there! The App allows you to control the Meeting Owl via Bluetooth connectivity and is an integral part in unboxing and registration. Once you've registered the device, you don't have to use the app again-- but as mentioned, it does offer some manual controls of the camera that might be valuable.
@@OwlLabs Ok, thanks. So you would recommend that each instructor have the app installed, or just set it up for standard usage so they can plug and play each time they use the PC?
@@InformationTechnology-oy5mz Once registered, it will be plug-and-play to the PC no matter what! But yes, if each teacher wants access to the manual controls then they might consider downloading the app for regular usage.
What platform are you using? Zoom? Skype?
The Meeting Owl works with most major web-based conferencing platforms like Skype and Zoom. You can find our full list here: owl-labs.helpscoutdocs.com/article/82-supported-video-conferencing-platforms
Can the panoramic view be turned off and keep the speaker's view active?
Yes, it can be turned off. We also have a feature called Presenter Enhance which allows you to lock the Owl's focus on the active speaker.
I love our owl, but the image always looks like the lens is dirty regardless of how often we clean it. Is there a film that needs to be removed? Any suggestions?
I’m so sorry to hear about the lens! If you could reach out to us at support@owllabs.com, we’d be happy to take a look at this with you and get to the bottom of this.
Do you guys have local support for Sweden as well?
"Wifi connected" is only for configuration isn't it? It HAS to be connected via USB to something, laptop or desktop. Is that correct or I missed something ?
Hi there, yes the WiFi is used for configuration and over-the-air software updates to the Owl. The USB is necessary to connect with a monitor, laptop, TV, etc -- as you said.
@@OwlLabs Thanks for the reply. The way it's advertised though is a bit misleading - I've interpreted it like one could use it in the "wireless camera" or IP-cam modus and still connect via Zoom etc, and I'm sure I wasn't the only one. Nice product either way, will be testing it tomorrow and see how the lab likes it.
Is Owl Lab made in USA?
I love the idea with the fisheye lol. Great solution for a hard problem :D:D
This would be cool guitar a classical guitar quartet!
I work for a non-profit association and we have committees that meet in hotels, but want to be able to allow members to participate remotely. What do you think the maximum number of people in the room could be and have the sound and video work well (with the Pro)? I assume if we connect this with a laptop that is on the hotel wifi, it would work the same as in a company conference room, right?
It's less about the number of people in a room and more about the size of the space! The Meeting Owl Pro has an 18-ft radius, and if you purchase 2 Owls and use Owl Connect you can expand that by 8 ft in either direction. Here are tips to have the best Owl Experience: owl-labs.helpscoutdocs.com/article/156-tips-for-having-the-best-owl-experience and here is an FAQ on using Wi-Fi with the Owl: owl-labs.helpscoutdocs.com/article/117-supported-wi-fi-networks
Is it possible to tweek the mic sensitivity. It seems at times to have trouble hearing and switching to another viewer. Also is it possible to rename the OWL once you register it? We will be purchasing a few more and will need to name them according to which room they'll be in, and would like to rename the present OWL we have.
Hi! Yes, you can rename your Owl via the mobile app when you are paired with the Owl. As for the mic sensitivity, please check out this support article which may help: owl-labs.helpscoutdocs.com/article/242-there-is-a-lag-in-meeting-owls-speaker-spotlight-performance Please feel free to reach out to support@owllabs.com if you believe this issue needs further troubleshooting.
Will this work with Google Meets and RUclips Studio platforms?
Both the Meeting Owl and the Meeting Owl Pro work with nearly all web-based video conferencing software, including Google Meet.
Is it possible to have it hanging from the ceiling ? Can the image be reversed ?
Hi, yes that's possible! Instructions for mounting your Meeting Owl on the ceiling, and more FAQ, found here: owl-labs.helpscoutdocs.com/article/750-how-to-mount-your-meeting-owl-pro-on-your-ceiling. If you need further help beyond the articles, please reach out to support@owllabs.com

Classroom Demo ?
We have a great example of classroom use that can be found here: vimeo.com/423293042/d44f5a7857
Can we just record a video with this without connecting to conference app or internet?
yes! For instance, you could record using quicktime on a mac.
How do you see the visitors who dial in from Zoom remotely?
My understanding is you plug this into your laptop. but instead of using the camera at the top of the TV you use this, but still share your screen etc on the TV like normal.
You are correct Ben! It creates a more natural meeting experience as those in the room can converse without having to stare above the TV or be positioned in specific ways.
So surreal to watch this almost two years after the whole white-collar office world went remote. Your earnest faces..............with no idea what was about to happen. How are you holding up?
They have the right product at the right time
Just bought one, thank you
Awesome! We hope you enjoy :)
How to bring to Brazil?

Hi guys, I'm in South Africa and I need three units of the meeting owl pro premium package
Please Contact Dynamic Communications in South Africa.
Interesting but very pricey
It would be much better if the people speaking did not have to look down at prompts/notes etc every few seconds.
