I always like your fun reviews and watched throughout. But now owning a Model Y, I can compare your comments with my experience - and you are so off in so many points. The car is amazing and I strongly recommend anyone that is interested in one to check it out - as the experience is very unique. The high quality minimalism is also outstanding, as all buttons, screen, seats, glass roof, steering feel, weight on the road, everything feels so solid and so well though off. Nothing feels like a gimmick, unless the thing is really a gimmick by design - such as the light show, games, etc. The fact the car is fully connected to the internet and the software is very polished feels really good too. Temperature control is also amazing - I leave the AC on when I leave the car in the sun for an hour or two with minimal battery impact (2 or 3 %). The base model has around 300hp and feels very sporty - I am yet to try the more powerful ones. I have the car now for two months, and using the chargehq app with the tesla wall charger, I have been just charging it with excess solar power, which is actually free (instead of selling for 5c/kw for the power company). Saving us $500AUD/month in gas. If you can get one with a novated lease the car feels almost free over 2-3 years given the tax savings.
Great review. I just collected my MYLR a few weeks ago and already have 3,000 kms on it. A couple of things you mention are true about the one for driving being jerky and the screen having everything on it. However, these are things you quickly adapte to. My one foot driving did make everyone feel sick but now it’s quite smooth. There are over 140 voice control commands that control most of the functions such as wipers and heating system, this too you get used to after a while. I think this car is great but it does have more of a learning curve compared to a “Classic” car. My other experience with this car is one I didn’t expect…. It’s very divisive people either love or hate it, I have friends that almost refuse to get in it because they don’t like Tesla and the Tesla Boss!! I have even experienced people shouting at me driving down the road and not in a good way 😂
10:27 "what's called one foot braking" lolll you mean one pedal driving 😆 it can come to a complete stop (in the hold setting) AND if you learn to drive smoothly your passengers will be fine
Hi mate did you get long range in Australia ? Is the range quite good ? Like better than the rwd …normally how much do you get out of a full charge thanks
The buttons on the steering wheel are enough for what ever you need and there is always voice control so you dont need extra buttons . The speed indercator bieng higher up than the instrument cluster means you dont lose focus glancing down . You can still be looking out your windscreen and see the speed in your peripheral vission. You didnt really go into what tech is in the car other than the cheap frill part. Tesla is all about the tech and you ignored it . For a frothy review it was good but lacks substance.
Fairly basic review. 12.06 you can change the air con temp on the left hand side steering wheel button. Simple and that feature is been in place for over a year. I don't own a model Y (I have a model 3), but friends do (with black interior as well!), it's a great fun car to drink, highly practical, one foot driving (not braking) is smooth and not jerky, as stated, if you drive the car for more than two hours. As for complaints about the door handles, my 6 year old has this covered off single handed no issues, so seems like a user issue. Agree on the speedo on the screen, not great, but you obviously get used to it. As for his galss roof quibble, magnetic shades for
The Model Y is the best selling car globally… it’s designed the be the least offensive to the most people. Aesthetics are very personal, aiming for some kind of cool is only going to reach a limited market. The voice overs sounded like an editorial input saying… “where’s the negative you’ve got to make some objective opinion that you don’t like it”
Thank you for being brave enough to talk about the ghastly synthetic leather seats. They aren't synthetic for environmental benefits or animal protection, it's done purely for cost. These seats are cheaper than literal waste from the meat industry.
You couldn't stop smiling when discussing the acceleration, and I understand entirely! I have only driven the single motor so far and that had me smiling too.
What a clown. The refresh model 3 is basically a whole new car, and that’s coming to the Y, I’ve never had a problem with the heat from the sunroof, only a issue on a 35 degree day and if you don’t pre cool.
Why would they force you with a glass roof ? and why would they not put the speedometer in front of the driver ? They thought they are STILL the one that bring innovation (like 10 years ago) while many other brands are catching up.
@@TheReal_JG 2023 is far behind in terms of EV development. After the snow storm, after the early adaptors, after those multiple oriental EVs models (not my preference) targeting Tesla, after latest studies that the current EV tech is not as green as people believe, I will be surprised Model Y can do the same again in 2024. (unless they come up with advancement so big, which is not likely) if they keep their arrogant that they tell you how to drive and you drive this way mentality. Just look as Tesla stock price, that will give you an idea.
Finally, at least some reviewers start to call out those utterly idiotic glass roofs. They are absolutely useless but cause huge number of real problems. And no, they do not "let in more light". In any car, you are already sitting in a tiny box with windows all around you, how more light can you possibly want? Stupid glass roofs allow insane amount of heat into the cabin, they add cost both to the car and insurance on the car, as they do break. Massive amounts of heat transfer into the cabin means loss of efficiency and range because you have to run AC more. And nobody looks up to the sky, that is not even a thing. Especially through a heavily tinted glass and especially when driving.
Any details to back up the claims you made - 1) the glass roof makes it more expensive (noting the cheaper manufacturing costs associated with having a huge hole instead of a steel roof), 2) the glass roof is responsible for higher insurance costs, 3) the glass roof is prone to breaking, and the best claim, 4) nobody looks at the sky... There are plenty of valid problems with this car and the presenter has done a brilliant job of calling them out. But making broad baseless claims is . . . lame.
@@andrewh1696 Well, sure, no problem. 1) the glass roof makes it more expensive (noting the cheaper manufacturing costs associated with having a huge hole instead of a steel roof), What hole? There is no hole. There is massive glass pane. And that glass is NOT cheap. Especially with all the special tinting. And a metal roof is just a bit of pressed metal and headliner. Sure, Tesla does not have to worry about headliner but that is only because they cheated and did not provide any kind of shade, like other manufactures actually do. All that means is that a lot of buyers living in hot climates then have to purchase some aftermarket shades, which are typically more than 500$. And by the way, a lot of car makers offer glass roofs as additional PAID FOR option, which is where your ridiculous claim that it is cheaper to make a car with a glass roof vs standard metal roof - flies out of the window. 2) the glass roof is responsible for higher insurance costs What are you even arguing with here? Ever heard of additional cover for windshields? Well, it's the same story with glass roofs. Only they cost even more to replace than windshield. So you will either have it as additional option on your insurance OR its cost will be included into your insurance automatically. 3) the glass roof is prone to breaking I never said they are "prone to breaking" but yes, they DO break, plenty of info on that on all kinds of forums, with pictures. They break when hit with stones, they can even break when somebody jumps up and hit the glass roof with their heads (btw, I bet that does not feel nice) And, sometimes they do break and people don't even know why that happened. 4) nobody looks at the sky... Do you? I don't. Nothing to see there. I don't see people walking on the street looking up all the time. Let alone people driving their cars trying to do that. You like to look at the sky a lot? Well, that is what I said - glass roof should be a PAID FOR option designed FOR YOU then. Other people should not be forced into having that rubbish.
@user-hz3eu5in 1) the hole is used during manufacturing. They then put glass over the hole in one of the later steps. The glass roof starts providing build efficiencies while still on the production line. There are more. Look it up. Unsure how you came to incorporate the emotional claim that "they cheated" in your response. Do you consider it cheating whenever one service provider does something differently to another? Wow. 2) you haven't provided any details regarding the glass roof being an issue for insurance companies - just a broad statement. 3) have you ever jumped on a steel roof? How did that go? Lean on one and tell me what happens... 4) I am so glad that Galileo never followed your advice and did look up at the sky. Humanity benefited from the deep thought and profound discoveries he made while looking at the sky. You should try it - just look up.
