I love this animatic. The literal apocalypse is unfurling on the world below, thousands of innocent citizens being turned, and Eggman couldn't be happier. And I also really like that newsreel at the beginning! Immersive!
Funny story haha, I added that newsreel because I was submitting this for a school project and needed to pad the runtime, but I wound up really loving it as well. I’m glad you like the animatic!
Eggman and Starlines synchronized tapdance is just too wonderful. It's a shame their combined efforts were bound to fall apart because of their clashing ideals, but seeing them like this just puts the biggest smile on my face. This animatic is fantastic and the effort poured into the project shows. The animatic is perfectly on beat with the music. It's just perfect.
Seeing them duke it out after everything that happened between them was pretty amazing though. Especially with how they write Eggman, that's like proper SA2 levels of evil genius as opposed to the more comedy focused character he became in modern games
Notes of Awesomeness: - 1:13: You can see that Eggman is wearing his original outfit from the 90's! Considering that's the era Metal Sonic was created, it makes perfect sense that's the time period this photo would/could have been taken. - 1:21: I don't know why I loved this little moment of Eggman's shoes being zipped up, but it just added to his sense of style for me. Especially because in Sonic Forces I always customized my character with a variant of them lol. - 1:46: This shot of Eggman's POV is so good at conveying the fact that he looks down, literally, on those around him. Proceeding to then drop down to an angle in which you see Orbot and Cubot attempting to hype him up, but are unable to see his face, is so smart. Trying to please Eggman but being flat-out ignored. - 2:55: OMG STARLINE LOOKS SO COOL!! Basically, as someone who does not do this and has no idea what she's talking about, WOW! I love these comics, this arc, and this video! You should be so proud!

I did not think that I could love this arc any more, but here you are absolutely knocking the characterization of Eggman out of the park. Honestly, as much as I love the comics, this is the better depiction of Eggman in my opinion. In both he is evil, but the fact that this opens with him performing relatable tasks like rolling out of bed and grabbing coffee make him even scarier. Like, this isn't some weird monster or supernatural creature. This is a man, a PERSON who is taking pleasure in watching the world burn. I do remember Archie having a big arc with a virus that turned people into badniks, and honestly that was almost scarier since (IIRC) it transformed them into a different person entirely, whereas the metal virus turns them into mindless zombies. With that said, I've been loving what IDW's doing with the series and I'm looking forward to more!

I’m so mad I only just found this it literally had me smiling all the way through. So beautifully crafted and full of sinister fun, perfect for an Eggman animatic. I think I actually screamed when both Starline and the Deadly Six showed up I love how you draw them all
I literally read the IDW comics for this arc. It was literally Sonic Zombies and while it was a little cringe at times, giving into that cringe and just enjoying what you're experiencing is a vital part of Sonic in my opinion. It was cool as fuck watching Eggman be on top of the world, and watching Sonic run himself ragged trying to prevent the metal virus from ending town after town, while also trying to keep his own infection at bay. In my opinion zombie stories are made from their use of loss and self-sacrifice. Tangle sacrificing herself to keep the horde at bay to let everyone else escape, and Vector taking a bullet and containing the infected Charmy to let a helicarrier full of civilians fly away safely are two of the moments from this arc that are forever ingrained in my brain. Good to know that this arc is getting the love it deserves in the form of this amazing animatic. I'm subbing now.
What's this 'they' business? Starline got the deadly six involved himself, but he only did that because the virus mutated so much eggman couldn't control the zombots anymore but he still decided to keep going with the plan.
the plan was screwed the second Eggman didnt bother with a plan B should he lose control of his own creation, as usual. And Starline's idea made sense, except he failed to realise his solution to keep the deadly 6 obedient was far from foolproof..
Man this makes me wish IDW had a tv series, similar to how archie comics got sonic satam in a way. Granted we have Sonic Prime which is similar, but the metal virus arc is unmatched!

The metal virus arc is my favorite, just for one moment with metal sonic. To keep it short, metal enters a lab where a small measuring cup sort of object holds the metal virus inside. Metal sonic reaches in, picking a bit of it up to test its effects on him. Then, it just slides off. The meaning is metal thought he was the real sonic, the better one, the ultimate sonic. But he knew it only affected organic life forms, so he attempted to touch it, finding out he’s not real. He’s not the true sonic, he was the faker all along.

I think it's not just matching the timing of the song with actions that makes this a great piece of work, instead it's WHAT those actions are that make it fit so well. The tap dancing section is the obvious one, but my favorite for tone-wise between the song and the on screen actions/story is the hallway section where the bots are jumping out before Robotnik silences them. It's inline with the tone of the song action-wise, the music lines up with the actions on screen for each major beat, and finally it also shows the character of Robotnik and fits with his character perfectly. Great work!

I keep watching this because I can’t get enough of it, I’m not deeply knowing of Sonic lore but it doesn’t stop me from adoring every time I see Eggman because he is just superior villainous character and I love him dearly. THIS IS SO GOOD HOLY HELL, the way you capture the characters energy and personality in everh frame is just *chefs kiss* And its also amazing that while yes, eggman is a relatively goofy villain. This video manages to capture his more cunning and genuinely evil side, he is a VILLAIN after all. And its nice to see that side of the doctor. And not just eggman is portrayed well. I am in LOVE with how Dr. Starline is animated, he radiates the exact same energy in the comics, where he follows the doctors command, even EXCEEDING that to take things into his own hands to make sure the plan goes smoothly. And need i mention the tap segment? Easily my favorite part of the animation ITS JUST TIMED SO WELL And the news part at the beginning, it is CHILLING. Truly showcasing how dark the metal virus arc truly was.

The part where the elevator contraption is dressing him, the robots saluting on the metallic-sounding "super-duper," the way they side-slide as he walks past them, the littler robots showing him the holographic newspapers about the whole thing (and then one giving the other a top hat and bow tie and spats that disappear as eggman passes through and he just deflates), the part with the virus taking over that guy, the freaking TAP-DANCE, and how does the whole thing manage to be so MENACING, I've had this song stuck in my head for like two days because of this animatic it goes SO HARD holy heck gdfhsgilresiuglb 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
This is so MINDBLOWINGLY *FANTASTIC!* The movements, the way you draw the characters, everything is just PERFECT! You are so talented and I hope you never stop making these because oh my GOD they are GOOD.
One of my favorite things about this animatic (though it's very hard to choose) is that Sonic appears only once. Many animatics about villains focus on their efforts to beat the hero, only to be beaten in the end of the video. But instead, we only see Sonic once, and not even his face. Just his leg, as he watches people get attacked and infected, and until backup arrives, he's helpless to stop it. All we see of his face is the projections Eggman destroys. _He's burnt it all down, and he's dancing on the ashes._

This was so cleverly done! This could've easily have come off as cringe or overly edgy like so many sonic fan animations or hell even canon Sonic media in general, tend to do. They want to play it 100% seriously, which loses the fun and feel of the Sonic universe, but you adding cute little things like the tap dancing, the "best boss" mug, as well as the robot arms grooming him in the elevator 😄. All still keep it within the wacky world of Sonic, while still maintaining a threatening and badass atmosphere! Very awesome job!

this is amazing and ive rewatched it many times, one minor detail that you forgot tho is the spurs on the heels starlines boots ! ! its a really cool detail because it refrences platypus's venomous spurs on their hind legs. not to mention the lack of webbing on his gloves. its a teeny tiny detail tho, this animatic is absolutely stellar

The metal virus arc is my favorite, just for one moment with metal sonic.
To keep it short, metal enters a lab where a small measuring cup sort of object holds the metal virus inside. Metal sonic reaches in, picking a bit of it up to test its effects on him. Then, it just slides off.
The meaning is metal thought he was the real sonic, the better one, the ultimate sonic. But he knew it only affected organic life forms, so he attempted to touch it, finding out he’s not real. He’s not the true sonic, he was the faker all along.
That issue actually made me cry bruh

I love how you really capture how the character of IDW eggman, i felt that he was the perfect combo between the satam robotnik and the modern eggman.

I also love how the kinda 'old' feeling of the song really helps it fit this kind of situation for Eggman. As far as he knows, he might as well already have won. This slightly creepy but still upbeat song captures that perfectly

I think it's not just matching the timing of the song with actions that makes this a great piece of work, instead it's WHAT those actions are that make it fit so well. The tap dancing section is the obvious one, but my favorite for tone-wise between the song and the on screen actions/story is the hallway section where the bots are jumping out before Robotnik silences them. It's inline with the tone of the song action-wise, the music lines up with the actions on screen for each major beat, and finally it also shows the character of Robotnik and fits with his character perfectly.

I keep watching this because I can’t get enough of it, I’m not deeply knowing of Sonic lore but it doesn’t stop me from adoring every time I see Eggman because he is just superior villainous character and I love him dearly. This alone makes me want to get deep into Sonic lore.

And its also amazing that while yes, eggman is a relatively goofy villain. This video manages to capture his more cunning and genuinely evil side, he is a VILLAIN after all. And its nice to see that side of the doctor.
And not just eggman is portrayed well. I am in LOVE with how Dr. Starline is animated, he radiates the exact same energy in the comics, where he follows the doctors command, even EXCEEDING that to take things into his own hands to make sure the plan goes smoothly. And need i mention the tap segment? Easily my favorite part of the animation ITS JUST TIMED SO WELL
And the news part at the beginning, it is CHILLING. Truly showcasing how dark the metal virus arc truly was.

I don't even go here but HOLY FRICK. The part where the elevator contraption is dressing him, the robots saluting on the metallic-sounding "super-duper," the way they side-slide as he walks past them, the littler robots showing him the holographic newspapers about the whole thing (and then one giving the other a top hat and bow tie and spats that disappear as eggman passes through and he just deflates), the part with the virus taking over that guy, the freaking TAP-DANCE, and how does the whole thing manage to be so MENACING, I've had this song stuck in my head for like two days because of this animatic it goes SO HARD holy heck gdfhsgilresiuglb 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

I wasn't expecting Eggman and Starline to tap-dance. That was phenomenal!
One of my favorite things about this animatic (though it's very hard to choose) is that Sonic appears only once. Many animatics about villains focus on their efforts to beat the hero, only to be beaten in the end of the video. But instead, we only see Sonic once, and not even his face. Just his leg, as he watches people get attacked and infected, and until backup arrives, he's helpless to stop it. All we see of his face is the projections Eggman destroys.

This was so cleverly done! This could've easily have come off as cringe or overly edgy like so many sonic fan animations or hell even canon Sonic media in general, tend to do. They want to play it 100% seriously, which loses the fun and feel of the Sonic universe, but you adding cute little things like the tap dancing, the "best boss" mug, as well as the robot arms grooming him in the elevator 😄. All still keep it within the wacky world of Sonic, while still maintaining a threatening and badass atmosphere! Very awesome job!

I like this, reminds that eggman is not just a goofy fat man making robots, he's a genius scientist who could destory the entire world but doesn't only because he needs someome to witness him ruling it.

this is amazing and ive rewatched it many times, one minor detail that you forgot tho is the spurs on the heels starlines boots ! ! its a really cool detail because it refrences platypus's venomous spurs on their hind legs. not to mention the lack of webbing on his gloves. its a teeny tiny detail tho, this animatic is absolutely stellar
