These turned out great in the end! Sometimes if I think it needs more, I will take a picture of it with my cell phone to get a different perspective! Also, setting it aside for the next day helps (as you said).
Those are luncheon plates. They had teacups at one point ( they fit in the circle). Ladies would have a cup of coffee and finger food and would be able to hold them with one hand and eat with the other. They're so pretty ❤

Yummy colors is right. The plates you are using and I think, are sandwich plates, maybe fancy sandwiches, and the round place is for you to set a cup of whatever you are drinking. That’s what I always have known them to be. 🤷🏼♀️🥰🎨👍🏻

Yes, great palettes! I bought some long skinny ceramic dishes which I think are for olives but work great for blending paints with one color at one end and another at the other! Love the color choices you make!! My fav thing about creating!! Thank you! 💕💕💕

I will have to say I have never painted. I tried my first abstract today. It was fun but scary, I am a very structured person. Not sure if it turned out very well, but I did it. Thank you for inspiring me to try something new

I’ve been binge watching your videos and I end up ordering art supplies after I watch every single one!! I love your technique and I discovered your art videos at just the right time. I needed something new to paint as I usually paint watercolour florals. I’m so excited to paint some abstracts with all of the new knowledge you’ve given me! Also, the lovely plates you use as palettes are tea plates. The tea cup sat where the little circle is and the rest of the plate was for finger sandwiches and petit fours. 🌸🎨🖌️

I liked how the paper performed! Worked out fantastic. Some of the blooms may have been helped by the paper. Cotton paper takes longer to soak in, so more time to work. 😊

I have some luncheon plates and tea cups that my grandmother painted. They sit in a cabinet, I may have to get one out to use as a pallet. I have some student grade Paul Rubens that I love and will have to see if I can pick similar colors to the ones you used today, Beautiful!!!!
I can see from using my plates that some of the paint pigments might stain the surface. If your plates are important to you, keep those in the cabinet. I got mine cheap at the antique market and don’t mind if they end up stained! 😊
Denise, just saw yr video. Could you give an alternative color in yr videos, if we don't have the Paul Rubens colors. I don't want to stop and start digging for a color, many thanks.
These are colors I tend to grab no matter the brand. I don’t keep all the color info in my head. I couldn’t dig around for alternates and film video projects. Get creative and use what you have on hand. Change colors to ones you love. 😊
Hi Denise, I’m fairly new to your channel and am loving what you do. I typically use middle water and wet on we, so have you done any tests of the paper and tape with water/paint at the edges to see if it would leak under the tapes? Also, do you sell your pieces? Ok! I went up and tested this out for you since I didn’t think to do that in the video… painted with water to the edges… added plenty of paint in there… waited for it all to dry… and pealed the tape and it actually did good. I did not have paint seepage! I’m pretty happy with how that worked out! 😊 I do not sell art. I’m in my 11th year of having a creative business… most of it in creative photography… and have had things up for sale for years on that with very little sales. So I kinda think after all the artists and photographers I know… selling art doesn’t really make you a living like I have found the digital products, classes and workshops. And selling art is a full time effort by itself… so with everything I already do… I just don’t care to spend any extra time I have trying to sell art. My goal is to make classes and workshops for art and photography. So that’s what you found when you looked. 😊
I love the Paul Rubens, watercolor paper, it’s some of my favorite paper! But sadly, it doesn’t come in any larger than the 7 x 10 size it comes in a smaller, sketchbook size, but that’s about it :-(I love the tall skinny landscape paintings, they remind me of the Japanese style landscape, calligraphy brush art :-)
I love their watercolour paper. I have the hot press sketchbook and it’s made from the 100% cotton paper for a very reasonable price….not common in the sketchbook market. I even have their 100% cotton glitter paper! Yes….glitter paper! It’s so pretty and fun.

Great video! I especially appreciate you sharing the color swatch paper pad! I recently tried creating one to swatch out my mirabou art crayons and it was a pain! This way I can have a central place to keep my various swatches! Have you tried Mission Gold watercolors? After using a few of the colors at a painting retreat and loving them, I invested in the palette of colors the artist teacher used.
You'll love that swatch paper pad - I've tried to do my own thing too... this works much better. I haven't tried the Mission Gold... Looking them up now!! Thank you 😊

I’m curious. I’ve been painting since high school. Less so until recently. Now that I’m getting into it again I want to invest. I really love the translucent nature of Paul Rueben paints and I know the tubes would last a long time. My monthly budget is limited but I think I will spring for the artist grade set of 36. I’m curious about subscription boxes. I’ve have indulged in a few over the last two years but was overwhelming disappointed. It seemed like what was sent was repetitive or (what they could pull off a shelf), so I discontinued getting them. I’m curious, any recommendations on subscriptions you prefer? Also, I did indulge in the Peerless liquid water colors this month. I couldn’t resist after one of your videos.
I’ve been getting sketchbox longest and it is my favorite. I started getting ARTSNACKS and paletteful last month. I don’t love all the boxes I get… but I love getting random supplies each month to play with. I did some comparison videos in the art haul section on my page if you want to get a look at what I’ve gotten over the past couple of months. I think you’ll love these Paul Ruben paints. I was really impressed and loved how they worked on these projects. 😊

@@shelleyhunt8207 I tape things down and some papers buckle less than others… and they flatten as they dry. I just don’t worry about it. The only one I’ve decided I don’t like is the Khadi Indian paper I have used in a few videos. It really buckles. You could use watercolor blocks to get less buckling too.

Your dishes were actually snack plates for showers, parties. A slice of cake and a place to sit your tea cup. Those are cool bc they are usually seen in pressed glass. I don’t think I’ve ever seen them in porcelain! Very cool!

Sure! I do sometimes. Not usually when I’m filming… but when I’m not filming I take the time to preserve it sometimes.

@@shelleyhunt8207 I tape things down and some papers buckle less than others… and they flatten as they dry. I just don’t worry about it. The only one I’ve decided I don’t like is the Khadi Indian paper I have used in a few videos. It really buckles. You could use watercolor blocks to get less buckling too.
Drafting tape works best.

Your dishes were actually snack plates for showers, parties. A slice of cake and a place to sit your tea cup. Those are cool bc they are usually seen in pressed glass. I don’t think I’ve ever seen them in porcelain! Very cool!
