You could say that Tomo-Zo is one of many in this band, but with her smile and her over-positive aura, she stands out. She may be an alien, but I don't care. She is special and just wonderful. ❤️🔥🤘🏻
loved tomo from the first time i've ever seen and heard her. and she rips some serious solos in this song as well. she has some other songs too but this is my favorite by far
Her colour shall be pink! Her age is measured in eons! Her expression is smile!!!! TMZ lifts spirits all around the world and beyond! (Take a look at her band-mates when they play a TMZ-song live) Cheers :)
TOMO-ZO’s playing style reminds me of Terry Kath, formerly of Chicago. Not the sound necessarily. She’s always there but not in your face. Great licks that can be overlooked by everything else going on around her. When it’s solo time watching her talent is amazing. If you don’t know about Terry Kath watch the live version of ‘25 or 6 to 4’ live at Tanglewood.
I would back you up on having Tomo-Zo at the top of that list. I mentioned it somewhere else and it's something that will make a bit more sense after watching the Magic Umbrella Girl performance, I suppose. But if Tomo-Zo wasn't in the band, I could definitely see her as like a children's entertainer on TV. Teaching kids how to enjoy life and if they find that someone is bullying someone else, you just shred their face off with a guitar while beaming a smile. Something like that.
There's certainly more TMZ songs to hear, you usually get one feature song per album/EP and she also takes point with the main melodies on most of their instrumental tracks. The majority of the songs from before Angie & yuri joined have some kind of Fantasy theme and for the 2019 10th anniversary concert they did a Fantasy medley of them that @markspohn6815 linked to in another comment. I'd recommend the live version of Magical Umbrella Girl that @homegnome2429 linked to if you want to see how TMZ features work with the GS 5.0 lineup. When she first joined the band her gimmick was that she was an eternally 14 year old magical girl, and during MC’s she would hit the audience with a magic spell that would knock them back into their seats. In 2014 this changed; turned out she was not actually a magical girl, but in fact an ancient alien from Nicorin Planet who was then 400,000,014 years old and instead hits the audience with her “TOMO-ZO Beam” which blasts them with her alien powers. Her kawaii personality is also a little shady; during concerts she often gets her own MC section where she “introduces” each of her bandmates by telling an embarrassing story about them/roasting them, and then introduces herself by saying something like, “I’m sorry that I’m so cute!” The likely origins of all this was Tomo-zo as a teenager wanted to be an idol and auditioned for an established group (forgetting the name) unsuccessfully with her guitar, before eventually joining EU Phoria which was a all girl rock band with Oreo as the main songwriter. GS has also played as AKB48's backing band and Tomo-zo got to be in the group for a day, substituting in for Takahashi Minami when she fell ill. Tomo-zo's ice cream guitar no longer has the spinning magical girl wand attached to the headstock at gigs, but it's still used on a pretty regular basis alongside her PRSes. Under the wacky aesthetics it's effectively an 80s style hotrodded Explorer with a floyd rose, though the body does also have a secret compartment for keeping sweets in (IIRC it's in the chocolate bar upper horn). It was built by students at the now defunct ESP Guitar Craft Academy at the same time as they built a light up bass for Koga (the academy also built several guitar for midori from Lovebites amongst other artists): www.esp-gca.com/school/artists/artists/gacharicspin.html
Here’s a link to a live version of Magic umbrella girl, which is Tomo-Zo’s track from the most recent album m.ruclips.net/video/B4XfPbRoE04/видео.html&pp=ygUTbWFnaWMgdW1icmVsbGEgZ2lybA%3D%3D
This version is a good example of modern day GS 5.0 Tomo-zo vibes, the magical girl aspect making a slight resurgence with the alien stuff dialed back a touch. Plus Angie has nice complimentary backing vocals and operates some of the TMZ fx changes including manipulating her Whammy and wah pedal. :)
It helps if you’ve seen the first two tomo centric songs from years two and three. Thou there she was an evil diva while here she’s an alien. Goya love Hana boy’s school uniform… One thing I just noticed is the dancers have their 66 shirts on. When GS came to frisco the band had on their sports(best) outfits and the dancers had on the rte 66 shirts which didn’t make much sense because rte 66 starts down in L.A. still doesn’t but apparently they were wearing outside of the U.S…

She has the chops to play like a show off but she never does. Always making the challenging look easy. She is a delight.

The secret sweets compartment is underneath the cupcake/strawberry parfait thing, not the chocolate.
