This song has aged VERY well. It is better even than I remember.
I agree!
I agree, when it came out I mostly focused on the vocals, but now I realize how great the instrumental is
Ikr, I knew it was good but only ever remembered the voice part
Correct. Damn!
Of course it ages well,it's the Beastie Boys.Probably the most brilliant band of all time.Pauls Boutique, unreal album.Ill Communication, greatest album of the 90's.And don't forget these guys were the 1st to give Public Enemy a support slot and gave them alot of publicity.Public Enemy, the most important band of the last 30 years.
That "hmm drop" is the Beastie Boys essentially sampling themselves. That one vocal was taken from their 1986 song "The New Style," released 12 years before "Intergalactic."
And it was used In Pharcyde's -Drop ... and prod by J Dilla!!
@@ghidrah76 Duuuuuuude! Pharcyde was the shit man. Tnx for reminding me.
@@HaienTwitch Anytime!!
My favorite part of The New Style
This reviewer actually listens to the music and makes good observations about the music and not just react to the video . Hope he gets more attention!
Who remembers when this was a MTV World Premiere!? Dating myself saying that but man this was the jam in middle school 😆. Time is flying too fast now.
I remember when Licensed to Ill came out and MTv had a constant where the Beastie Boys would kidnap you for the weekend. It's actually on youtube. Kind of cringe really also a spring break one on here.
"middle school" makes you feel old?! Dude, I was already out of college & had just filed for divorce after nearly a decade of marriage. Saying THAT will make ya feel old. 😆😆😆
Remember when they used to play music videos? CRAZY!!!
I remember! I was 13 at that time
@@cynzix #Team80sBabies
This is their tribute to 50s/60s japanese giant monsters/robot movies which are friggin hilarious!
Great reaction J!✌💛🤘
You HAVE to see their “Three MCs and one DJ”
The bars are wild!
“Let the Beat DROP”. Is a reference to their own song “The New Style”. From there first album “License to Ill” 1986!!
These guys were the bomb back in the day.
Also, now.
Were?
Still.
Brings back High School memories 🤔
Still are... RIP MCA
And you were bomb today, keep being you, you rock (idfk you but didn’t wanna say “back in the day” and suggest you aren’t great still
“Hold It Now, Hit It” and “Sure Shot” both are all time bangers!
"Sure Shot" "Gratitude" "No Sleep Til Brooklyn" "Body Movin" "Brass Monkey"
Gratitude. Fav Beastie Boys song and gets no love from these reactors.
@@trenchy1990 how could it when everyone is asking for No Sleep, Paul Revere,. Brass Monkey, Hey Ladies etc. I assume the requesters know the song well. If they want an intergalactic reaction there's been 10 in the last week.
@@anthonyv6962 true. Same as with the Alex guy. Been suggesting Faith No More for 2 years now and still nothing from him.
@@trenchy1990 it is essentially a punk rock song though. So its probably not gonna hit with hip hop fans as hard as tbeir straight up hip hop stuff
No sleep til brooklyn is the shit!
The Beastie Boys never disappoint in the theatrics department! LOL
There were 4 samples in the song: ‘Intergalactic’ by the Beastie Boys. (1998)
---------------------------
1. ‘Prelude in C# Minor‘ - Les Baxter (1968) (Which is the Organ sounding Moog Machine used throughout the song right when the first verse comes into play.
--------------------------
2. ‘Love Is Blue (L'Amour Est Bleu)’ - The Jazz Crusaders (1968) (Which is the jazzy bass riff used at the bridge of the song.
----------------------------
3. ‘Hang on in There‘ - The Stovall Sisters (1971) (Which are the vocals saying the line: ‘Do It!’ During the bridge of the song and right before the song ends.
----------------------------
4. ‘The New Style’ - Beastie Boys (1986) (Which is the where the line: “mmmm...DROP?!” originally came from
---------------------------
This is a reference to 70's 80's Japanese "Godzilla" adaptation in series with a "justice robot" vs "creature from space" (Spectreman, Space Sheriff Gavan, & cie).
there is a whole genera of monster movies like this. Godzilla is the most famous. and Ultra man.
Power Rangers were also still very popular at the time and, because of the Japanese footage they used on that show, it had the same feel.
*Gamera
The time of the Kaijus 😊
Not to be an arsehole, but just for the future, you spell it GENRE.
@@Wesker1984 Maybe he didn't mean genre but meant the related Latin term generis of which genera is the accusative plural form in its declension; although, if I remember my Latin correctly, the nominative singular form ought to be used in that sentence. The nominative is the dictionary form, and English tends to use the dictionary form of Latin and Greek, as well.
You are probably right, however, that he was trying to speak of the genre.
I had "I like my sugar with coffee and cream" on my MySpace bio back in the day lol
😂😂😂 my bio had "she was kinda like a star, thinking I was like a fan," from Passin Me By by The Pharcyde
Lmaoo
"I guess we're having octopus tonite" Lol
I said it last time but I’ll try again. The video for “Body Movin” by the Beastie Boys is hilarious and the song is pretty good, too.
It always makes me happy when the giant robot does the robot.
Also am I the only one who cracks up when he says, “Comin’ from Uranus to check my style”?
The video is heavilly inspired by the very cheesy japanese Godzilla movies of the 70ties.
Might be the reason why they shot parts of the video in Japan.
This song is basically “Don’t fuck with us, we’re from another planet” and they ain’t lying! Beastie Boyz are timeless!
"I'll stir fry you in my wok!" 🤣 Best line in the whole song! Great reaction! 💙 from Texas!
"I like my sugar with coffee and cream" - favourite line
My sister had this album when it came out, this beat and this hook made my 13 year old brain explode
I couldn't click on this video fast enough, one of my all time favorites and a permanent fixture in most of my playlists. RIP Adam Yauch (MCA).
I love all the Sci Fi references they pull not just with the video but lyrics
I've seriously been enjoying your Beastie Boys reactions! I feel like they're so underrated and so damn clever!
They are not underrated at all. They are considered hip-hop pioneers and are in the hall of fame. Anyone who listens to any hip-hop knows about them, I'd say. They are amazing.
@@jericoba Underrated in the sense that despite that they still get ragged on Hall of Fame or not. And there are actually alot of people who listen to hip hop who DO NOT LISTEN to beastie boys, they know of them, they've heard songs in passing but havent actively tried to listen to their music.
@@samanetha89 Well, being ragged is not good. Hopefully, those people will see the brilliance of Beastie Boys, like you and I do, ASAP. I see now what point you tried to convey.
Not only do they know how to rap, but they know how to entertain. Even in there live performances!
“Sure Shot” by The Beastie Boys is excellent. Also check out Run DMC - “The King of Rock,” “Peter Piper,” “Mary, Mary,” “My Adidas,” “Sucker MC’s,” “It’s Tricky,” “You Be Illin’.”
Run’s House too please
I always tell my students: It’s tricky!
_Like a pinch on the neck from Mr. Spock_
I love that line haha 👌
Fun fact: Stephen Hawking was in the backing vocals...
"...as long as we keep rawking"
@@P5YcHoKiLLa HAHAHAA!!!
LOL
So great! Love them. So creative. Such a great mix of hip hop, pop, and punk.
This was huge in the UK you gotta check out their tracks "You Gotta Fight For Your Right To Party" "and No Sleep Till Brooklyn"
Yasssssss, Intergalactic, the effing bomb back in the day... That robot chant, the beat drop.. the music spreads, just like a pox.. classic!! old's cool!
“No sleep til Brooklyn” Please-🌟✌️
Try "The Choice Is Yours" by Black Sheep and "Rebirth of Slick" by Digable Planets.
Rebirth of Slick?! My fingers already snapping when I read that
Any Beastie Boys song is great ✌❤
I’m so in love with your recent Beastie journey. I retired from university teaching. You make me miss my students.
Remember when that first dropped back in the late 90s... I loved it! Still a banging tune 20+ years later!
Do “you gotta fight for your right to party” it’s an 80’s anthem
I'm usually not a fan of synch music like this, but damn, that beat is catchy
Super clean beat! I've been a fan of this song for a long time! I'm glad Beastie Boys are getting recognized by younger generations
@@shakarussanders9911 Oh, I grew up listening to them, but it's fun rediscovering them through new eyes.
@@katemccrea6963 It truly is! I love watching these reaction videos😊
Me either but I loved this song. I was always playing it and my friends were always like really? lol
They always look like they are having a blast in their videos 🤣. I love them
I have just found Susan Boyle singing The Way We Were from 1984. She was singing in a pub. Do listen to it.
I LOVE MY SUGAR WITH COFFEE AND CREME!!
My favorite line from Beastie Boys!
The robot was from a imported Japanese movie series made into a regular TV show series that used to be popular when I was a very little kid that would come on Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoon. Think it was called "Giant Robot". We used to love it!
Great reaction. Listen to 3 MC's and 1 DJ. Pure Hip Hop. RIP MCA.
I was a teen in 98 and music from the 90s are soo extensive with different kinds of genres and also when musicians still use actual instruments not until Jamiriqui you should also react and search Jay Kay 😊
I see so many people reacting to this, but no commenters ever say anything about slow and low being the place where they originally let the beat.........mmmmmddddddrrrrooooppp
Let the beat drop is from the “The New Style “.
@@Alex-di7mb oh shit you right. All the old stuff runs together in my head. People should definitely listen to both of them though
Brilliant songs and so many of them. Check out Korn featuring Slipknot in London performing Sabotage, amazing.
The opening music was "Mars" from Gustav Holst's "Planet Suite".
Listen to "She's Crafty" and "Rhymin & Stealin"
Every time this song comes across my radio or play list. It goes to max volume! The best gets me fing going!
The video and theme is based mostly on the 'kaiju' genre of films, originating from Japanese cinema, made famous by the 'Godzilla' films. Even the use of people in costumes walking and fighting amongst a miniature set is utilized in this film. The 'robot' theme, while seen in many films, was also present in the Godzilla franchise as 'Mechagodzilla'. Also... LOVIN your reactions @JayveeTV !
Beastie Boys known to let the beat....mmm drop!
The beastie boys were the only white rappers who kept to the style of the 1980's style with no cursing!! They kept that no cursing style since they broke up!!
I keep seeing people say this but beasties were not a "clean" group lol. Plenty of cursing.
The beastie boys were Jewish not white.
mshat18 aren’t most Jewish people considered white?
No. Not even close
You have to check out Sabotage!
Fun fact: the scenes filmed in Shibuya and Shinjuku train stations in Tokyo, Japan. Were completely done without permits. Some nice fun guerrilla music video making
Sure shot - beastie boys. Another classic 👌👌
They have fun and enjoy themselves every time..it’s contagious..they were a punk rock group to start with..they reinvent themselves over and over..musical genius..haha..
Please do "Sure Shot". It's a mind-blowing song by them.
Beasty Boys are the OGs in the rap game. Loved seeing the younger generation enjoy!
The classical music at the beginning is "Night on Bald Mountain" by Modest Mussorgsky.
These guys have sooo many awesome videos, they are always entertaining and funny.
Possibly the best vids of any group out there and the beats are always sick AF!
Fun fact: On their first album, Licensed to ill, their song The New Style has a line that says "let the beat.....mmmm...drop" sang just like it is in this song
I was never a fan of the Beastie Boys, but I love this song!
"Intergalactic planetary, planetary, intergalactic planetary"! This song still go hard!
Lucky to have seen them live 4 times!!! I’m old.
But I say Beastie Boys are the Beatles of Hip Hop!!!
I was 13 when this dropped. 1998. This song was gettin HEAVY play. The video was fire too.
Shadrach is my favorite Beastie song... also check out the video for "Drop" by the Pharcyde that samples this song.
Thx for sharing 😍I agree w u each song is different saw them in the late 80s a few times
check out 3 mcs & 1 DJ -Hey Ladies -Shake your rump
Dude, check ou Hey Ladies next. It's a banger!
Literally like maybe the worst song on Paul's Boutique. Most commercial but didn't Represent the album. I Know it's music and it's subjective but whatever.
Beastie Boys will always be awesome. Genius
"See, Run-DMC brought rap to the edge of suburbia but the Beasties drove it right to the center. So just on a side note, let me just tell you a little story, something about our history. Um, if it wasn’t for the reason I’m here tonight, the reason this was so important to me, it’s because if it wasn’t for the Beastie Boys, I wouldn’t have my career that I have today because the Beastie Boys actually played my demo tape for Rick Rubin. A lot of people don’t know that.
" - LL Cool J
Beastie Boys are rap royalty, only six rap artists have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They are (in order of inductance) Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Run-DMC, the Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, N.W.A and Tupac Shakur.
I was lucky enough to be there for their induction to the Hall of Fame.
A lot of rappers and singers have been inspired by Beastie Boys. Timeless song
Beastie Boys - You Gotta Fight For Your Right (To Party).
Back to their punk rock beginnings.
So glad to see the younger generation loving the Beasties! I’m ancient...but they first came out in my college years. I have a Quarantine/Deserted Island Top 100 playlist - essential songs I can’t live without. Intergalactic & Sabotage are on that list!
Intergalactic video is based on old Japanese monster movies from the 60s n 70s. Godzilla, King Kong, Gamera were popular when the Beastie Boys were young.
Mike D's parents were art dealers & artists so I have a feeling that's where all his crazy wild creativity came from, which I love! Little known fact the word Beastie in Beastie Boys stands for "Boys Entering Anarchistic States Towards Inner Excellence" according to the band. They also invented the word Mullet. Cool guys.
They played this on Fox News today and I physically SCREAMED when I heard it.
This line from Putting Shame in Your Game is probably my favorite. Ad-Rock
: Well I'm the king of Boggle, there is none higher. I get eleven points off the word 'quagmire'
Aw Yeah! "I like my sugar with coffee and cream!" I crank the volume up on this every time it comes on in my car. Thanks for the reaction!😍😍
If you want something even freakier react to " I FINK U FREAKY by Die Antwood " lol trust me you will never forget it lol
Sabotage is still my favorite by them, then No Sleep Til Brooklyn, then So What'Cha Want and Intergalactic
This video always energizes me, it's pure geeky rap fun!
This song brings me back to the summer of 1998. . TIme for "Insane in the membrane" by Cyprus Hill or "Hypnotize" by Notorious B.I.G
It is paying homage to the classic Japanese movies and shows like 'Godzilla' with the giant foes and like 'Johnny Sako and the Flying Robot', which featured a giant robot fighting Godzilla-sized foes. That's the reason for wearing the 'Koji', or construction worker uniforms. They used to be very prevalent in the classic Japanese monster cinema.
Beastie Boys exploding now (again) is the best thing already of 2021
Oh we know what time it is. It's time to rock the house with this one.
For FUN you MUST listen to Girls And my first introduction to them She's On It (I still proudly own my 12" LP)
This song STILL holds up. The whole album is a mood...
One of their songs ,the beat was made from a record playing backwards!
My car audio LOVES this song!! Star Trek made this song popular again👍🏻.
My favourite line from this is “I’ll stir fry you in my wok!” 🤩😎
Hey Fella I just want you to know that I've been subscribed a couple of days now and have watched a good few of your vids. I fucking love you bro. Nohomo. Your appreciation of ALL types and genres of music is outstanding for one of tender years. I see it on your face. The recognition of something good, the seed, then your smile just ignites as the tunes delivers lol. It's really nice for an Englishman to see your views of British music and you're always very polite and respectful. You are the kind of fan these bands play for ;) I really wish I knew you in person as we could have some great chats and you could dig through my vinyl. Anyway bro you take good care of you and yours and have yourselves a splendid day.
Thanks man I appreciate that
this song represents my childhood's music really well. Something totally different.
Club banger in the early 2000's!!
You should give( Somebody’s Baby- Jackson Browne) a try
Been loving the Beastie Boys reactions! Check out “The Maestro”
One Beastie Boys song always make me laugh....Boomin´Granny! Pure awesomeness :)
Yeah, I was singing along with one! Wooo! They were awesome I tell you! My first time watching this video though. I can tell they were influenced by some retro shows and films. It reminded me of those old reruns of a 50s or 60s animated black and white shows a cross between Gigantor and the black and white Godzilla films! HA! :) Yes every time you hear them there is something different for you to enjoy! Excellent reaction too glad you enjoyed it! Until next time! Peace! ✌☮
Suggestion: 3 MCs and 1 DJ from Beastie Boys
Beastie boys she's crafty the new style
