I have become used to videos about mountaineer’s tragic deaths but never seen one one like this. Your coverage of her early life and her long career was fascinating Thank you so much. What an amazing woman. Peace and love to Hilaree Nelson, her loved ones and friends.
Rest in Peace Hilaree Nelson! The documentary her Jim about skiing off high mountains is amazing. My condolences to her family and friends. She was an amazing lady.
I have never heard of Hilary, but just watching her videos these days really touched my heart and also here humility. All those you left their body are still with us... Love and Blessings to her... 💗
This was a great video honoring a tremendous athlete. Thank you. As usual your videos are respectful and insightful. You're my favorite High Altitude RUclips channel.
A very good documentary. Thank you. Life is for living and she and her live long partner enjoyed it to the full. So so sad that the avalanche triggered her death and she couldn’t join her partner at the bottom. RIP and be Blessed in Heaven. You will be reunited with family and friends in God Kingdom ❤
A genuinely beautiful tribute to an extraordinary woman. There are others commenting on this thread, they maybe right, maybe wrong, but I'm fairly sure the world would be a better place if they kept their darker thoughts to themselves and instead celebrated a truly remarkable life.
right, although this lady seemed not to have only holy thoughts when she decided even in harsh and dangerous condition to risk her life, havening children at home. If You search for dangers and risks it is very logical that things like that happens This is the Hybris of man to challenge nature beyond sound judgment and reason.
Respect to Hilaree Nelson, she was a wonderfully tenacious woman. I would not attempt what she did in her life. My heartfelt sympathies indeed, to her husband, to all she knew, her friends and family. Gone, but never forgotten. Excellent narration.
Threw away her life and left her kids with only a dad.. why? To ski down a mountain… skiing down an 8000er is just about the dumbest thing i ever heard of.. you need good powder to ski well but powder means avalanches at that altitude, she literally asked to die
Astea nu se pot numi mame!! Saracii copilasi... Ce-o fi fost in inima lor... O femeie fara suflet, nu o mama. O mama adevarata nu face asa ceva, ci sta acasa cu copiii ei!! Nu am pic de simpatie sau parere de rau pt asemenea oameni.
Hate to judge, but you’re doing it anyway? No one makes these comments about men with children who chase their dreams with extreme sports, how do we still have a double standard like that? She went with the support and love of her children and life partner, she died doing what she loved and that surpasses all.
@@oldbat2ccats I have exactly the same opinion regarding men with children. People can do what ever they want unless they have made decisions making them responsible for other human beings lives, in my opinion. Accidents can happen everywhere but some activities are truly more risky than others. Not many of us can spend our lives daily doing what we love to do, still we have to continue our lives. Why not bring the children up first and then live your life to the fullest?! The mountains are going nowhere...
Wait am I the only one that heard at first she was married & had children then divorced met a new guy had a romantic relationship with him but when her and her boyfriend passed away all the sudden she's survived by her kids and life partner??? How exactly is he her life partner when they were divorced and she was seeing someone else romantically?? Not a life partner I would want.😂
I'm sure her kids miss her. But they also knew she loved to do the things she did. And her kids look like they enjoy doing those things too. I'm sure she told her kids the risks living that kind of lifestyle.
@@wyomingadventures I see, it's OK if the mother of a 9 year old and an eleven year old, gets herself killed doing an extremely dangerous thing, which she loves to do, right?! 🥲 The kids had no say in it, but if she told them the risks involved, then it's fine! 😅 And, she was divorced, but the boys will find some place to go, correct! 🤣 And since you saw a photograph of her outside in the snow with them, that closes the case! 😂 Being a mother of young children, should in no way inhibit a woman in her heroic aspirations, that is obvious!! 🥲 😅 🤣 😂
What a ridiculous way to die?! It wasn’t tragic, it was senseless! None of what she was doing made sense in the real world. What a ridiculous notion of what life is? Couldn’t stop playing in the mountains to raise the kids at their age? No old mom & dad just had to go be the narcissists they ever were thinking they would ski down the side of a mountain?! She’s dead. The End.

I appreciate that!
She was doing what she loved to do! God bless her and her family & friends! ❤️
What you said is Bull Shit! She neglected her kids for her own ego. She was Trash who did not need to be a mother. Selfish Bitch!!
Hear hear. What an amazing life.
I have a feeling that God won't see her choices in the same way that most humans do.
So what! She was doing what she loved! So fuckin what! She’s dead and her children have no mother. North Face just moves on to the next adventurer.

Must be some dream rush to ski some 6.000 meters steep downhill in one go...😊
Judging by whats said in the video, i think she spent about eight weeks a year at home with her children, those poor children 😞

Great video, but difficult to understand through the thick accent. Personally, I would have benefitted with subtitles.

@@epicadventurearchives excellent. That would do it! Thanks.
Is she the one that skied the face of lhotse with her partner?
Yes

You have to wonder why she felt the need to do such a thing.
Watch any documentary in which she is featured and you’ll have an answer to your question.
That's okay, I'm not that curious. Seems like strange behavior though. @@jessicaxx172
Hate to judge, but seems like adventuring came before her kids.
No way to do the sport the way she did and still put her children first. Something had to give. And choices were made.

Agreed. People who want to push limits in adventure shouldn't have kids till they retire.
I would argue, She committed suicide!?!?!?!?!?

Weird. Do you say the same thing about police officers who are killed in line of duty? This was her career, and she was damn good at it.
