thanks for the close ups of the front end. it seems odd to me though, almost a step backwards for Jan. on his custom 2019 kona setup he had a similar between the arms, custom thing, but that also had what looked to be a seperate storage unit for gels or something. It had 2 different straws if i remember right, so he could have had 2 different drink options with gel or water ect.. on this setup he has just the intergrated water tank in the frame, plus seat and downtube cages. doesnt look like anywhere else for him to store his stuff.
Still extremely nice but i think the 2019 setup looked more user friendly and cool.

Might have found that he didn't use it and wanted to save the weight. There's only so many gadgets you need on a bike to complete an IM

There wasn’t a second straw, only one. Sebastian Kienle got 2 straws in his customized cockpit. You don’t need the extra storage in the front. The whole bike is definitely a step forward in terms of aerodynamic and adjustability.

Is 170mm Crank length odd for someone as tall as Jan?
I have a size small road and tri bike both came stock with 170mm seems odd Jan would have that short of cranks but I'm no expert with tech.
Hello GTN...I was wondering if that "custom" arm configuration set-up was ever made available to the general public?....I have looked online but have not seen anything like that. I am surprised that no company has jumped on that obvious design yet and brought it to market....???

Probably paying for the r&d, service of fitting it custom, and propriety tech. Not the print itself

12K costs complete bike. Not the "frame".
Printed cockpit is 2.5-3.0K.
What is comfortable for Jan doesn't have to be good for others.
what is up with the continuity errors? The Wahoo device kept changing from being all black to having some pink electrical tape wrapped around it.
0:19 and 0:52 = all black
1:34 - 3:02 and 3:39 = pink

Weight is not important on a TT Bike...
Sram axs is on the heavy side compared to the old, disc brakes, but who knows what the hydration system weighs. So not that unreasonable for the hydration weight.

I still don't get the thought process of disc brakes on a TT or Tri bike, for years and years they have been saying you need to tape up every bolt, hide every cable then they go and stick a F off disc on it! 🤷♂️
I understand it for road or mountain bikes but not these
I think the performance gains from the wheels (stifness, tyre integration and such) going from rim brakes to discs outweigh the loss in aerodynamics. Not sure though

@@o11378 2 kg's lighter that means i have to produce less watts and use less energy to get same speed. Now think if i put extra 20watts on top ;)

I may be too old, or may be wrong, but I can believe that people really believe that Jan has got a better carreer than Mark Allen's, no way I can believe that Jan is better than The Grip himself.
Since there is no sports time machine , each was the best of their time . Like Tom Brady playing in Johnny Unitas's time, Tom would get killed back then . Unitas would be playing in his mid 40's if playing today .
You can get the speedmax as low as 3500$
Wonder how much time a middle aged shlub like me would save taking it out the local amateur olympic distance race.
Be great to see all the pros compete on the exact same bike, see how good Frodeno is when he doesn't have a bike worth 40k euros to help him
All the pros have bikes that cost this much. Plus a lot of the upgrades don’t make him necessarily faster. Also in many races he finished second or third in the bike leg and then he killed it in the run. He is the greatest not because of his bike.
The 3D-printed part is not well made. First FDM printing is the wrong manifacturing technique for this purpose. And it's just noch clean there..
Why scan his forearms in the first place if its then all padding? That sounds like marketing BS to sell unnecessarily customized products.
If the pros use it successfully, then they know we'll buy it to be just like....and shave a few watts off our time.

this price is waaaay off if you talking about how much it did cost for canyon to setup this bike costum for jan. just thought about the engineering costs behind the one of a kind stuff? the hours in wind tunnel etc? the prototypes? puuuh 💸💸💸

5000-10.000€ for the cockpit? I think you need to put at least another factor of 10 in it.
Think wind tunnel testing, think engineering hours.
It would be 5-10k if ONE engineer would have worked on it for ONE month.
There is zero chance that's the case.
If 3 people worked at it for 3 months, which would be a really short time, we are already at least at 50k.
I think they disclosed Patrick Lange's Cockpit from 2018 or so to cost 120.000. And this looks a lot more complicated.
My bike cost more 10 time less, but I don’t drive 10 times slower than Jan. Only 20% slower.
Being a "pro" had it's advantages. They get all the excellent stuff for free while us schmucks have to pay being bucks for decent equipment. Almost doesn't seem fair.

5k for the cockpit? That 3d printing looks terrible! I could do the 3d scan with open-source software and an iPhone and print it for less than $30. But if you want to write me a check for 5k, I'll send you my info.
