Whoa, you made it all the way down here! Thank you ♥️ Love you
I live in southern Georgia about 1 mile west of the Flint River on US HIGHWAY 90 . There’s thousands of Farrell hives in the river’s swamp area .
I experience heavy robbing . I placed stainless steel screen over my entrance reducers and cut a 1/4 by 3/8 inch opening that my bees could go through . That almost completely stopped the robbing . Sometimes , when robbers are attacking my hives , I place a stick into the small openings and after about 5 minutes , the robbers give up their attempts to rob and go away .
I wouldn’t think you would need a respirator in that form but apparently that is exactly what the label says. Thanks for sharing!
Yes, label is the law. Hope to see you at my livestream tonight: ruclips.net/user/liveYHm00xW046Y
Your videos have been really helpful as a new beekeeper! Thanks for doing what you do!

Earwigs absolutely get into people’s ears. When I was a kid I woke up my brother screaming intensely off and on through much of the night, holding his ear. In the morning my dad took him to see a doctor and indeed an earwig had been pinching, clawing his eardrum with bleeding noted.
I thought you didn't want lacking supers on the top through the winter since the colony moves up? Why leave it on?
I was thinking the same thing? Answer?
That's just a 10 frame hive that I'm using as a mating nuc. I failed to say that. In a few weeks, I'll take that unused super off and combine all my other mating nucs, resource hives all into one hive with two deeps and one super. Those 2 or 3 super frames that had nectar on them will be placed in the area for the bees to consume in an open feeder. So I just left it on there knowing I'll deal with it in a couple of weeks.
AMAZING bonus point! WoW! I was seriously thinking…how do you know if it is a robber bee?? 😂 Great video!! I always learn so much from you!
Thanks for watching!
Earwigs pinces are purely for mating, the male earwigs pinces are in like a circle females pinces are just straight. They don't use them to defend themselves it's purely for mating only.
Good stuff.
Hey David,
I live in upstate NY and I just did my fall inspection. We have two medium boxes right now and the top one is near empty frames that haven't been drawn out yet. I am feeding them fondant through the top of that box. Should I remove the top box and condense down to just one box for the winter?
Thanks.
Good question to ask during my livestream tonight. Please join me. Here's the link: ruclips.net/user/liveYHm00xW046Y
A hairless robber bee gulping down nectar! That bee will definitely go back and let the other robbers know. How about giving her a pinch to help prevent that from happening?
And ruin a video teach moment 🤣
I was really amazed at how fast the robber bees found the hives.
Me too Pat, but think about this. Not only did they find it fast, but back at their hive there must be an army of foragers standing by for the waggle dance to instantly deploy! Now that's amazing, because there can be hundred within 10 minutes.
Hi David from NE WI.Were about 2wks ahead of you as weather goes I'm in a low spot and had a light frost already.Great info on inspection I do have an question. My last 3 inspection starting back on Aug. 24th.I have 2 mated queens in the same hive laying and being feed by workers. Each time of inspection the queens have been on the same frame.I didn't remove a queen in case she's needed in another hive.Hive is doing great and been watching for sworming.Could the hive survive winter with 2 queens that are working ok with each other?Thank you for all the info you help us with on our journey as bee keepers.
Earwigs are not named after people's ears, or even any animal's ears! They can commonly be found in ears of corn!
Awesome video!!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Not worth adding a robber screen?
There wasn't much fighting at the door, but not a bad idea.
