    Should have mentioned Ned as another teacher, she got her sense of justice and honor from him after all! No matter what, all the times she rejected some 'lesson' from the others it was becouse THAT lesson from Ned no matter the pain and confusion was the most important part of her.

    • @VeryMerryVintage
      @VeryMerryVintage 5 лет назад +54

      Yes! Killing Ned Stark in the first season is a major loss. However, this story conveys a lesson that is true about death. When a person dies we don't lose that relationship it just changes. Ned Stark remained very much alive in the children he raised. I would argue we continued to learn about him because of who his children became after he died.

      Nyx Atropos I see what you’re saying, but the writers backed themselves and their story into a corner when they decided to only do 8 seasons. It’s unrealistic to think everything could be good when they had such limited time (and source material) to work with. If the writers are to be blamed for some of the stories inconsistencies, than GRRM should be blamed just as much. He’s having the same problem with figuring out how to get to the end of his story. At least the writers finished the story versus cutting the season off before it was finished. There are so many moving parts but people seems to only want to blame the writers. Even the cast only wanted 8 seasons.

      Ummm, do you expect the showrunners to insert these little "POV" videos into the middle of episodes so that they can help the dense understand what's going on? This amazing Arya video was created utilizing the material that the showrunners have provided over many years to bring Arya's amazing character to life. It's not their fault so many are so average in intelligence and led around by the nose of "what's popular" at the moment online. It's become very "hip" to bash this show and so here come all the dummies, parroting the garbage they are hearing. STFU and watch the Kardashians if you are incapable of understanding what's going on. Everyone is sick of hearing from people who are too stupid to even understand how fucking stupid they are.

    • @JcLeopard
      @JcLeopard 5 лет назад +2

      I think she was right to go for the footsoldier initially. Tywin commits evil acts but it isn't random and it serves a strategic purpose. When Tywin first got to Harrenhall the men were torturing and murdering prisoners for fun. They were about to kill Gendry. Tywin put a stop to it and made them realize that the people they were torturing and murdering had talents that could be put to use such as Gendry with making weapons. Tywin was needed to keep his men in check because many of them commit cruel acts for the fun of it. Why Tywin can be cruel he isn't cruel without a strategic purpose behind his actions.

    You really gave a good reason why Arya is the one killing the Night King, I've been thinking about that for a while. She's been my favorite character since the beginning, because she's quite relatable as a person who defies the expectations and especially gender roles, despite getting called out and shamed by her surroundings. She stands up for herself and what's right, never afraid of letting others know they are doing something wrong, and never concerned about what they are thinking of her. I've heard a lot of people saying she is annoying and nagging, but the unfortunate truth in society is that people tend to be more negative towards women speaking out, disagreeing, and challenging others (especially men).

      You say that like Brienne of Tarth doesn't exist. Misogyny is always prevalent in the world of game of thrones, every woman has to deal with it, even Cersei and Dany. But you can't just say "all who disagree with Arya's arc just don't like her because she's a woman" like, is that really your only defense? They fucked up *every* character arc in season 8. There's not one character who got the end they deserved. Varys suddenly became stupid and got killed, Jon got cucked out of his starring role and just became Dany's lapdog until the show decided it was time for him to think for himself again, Tyrion was an absolute idiot throughout all of season 7 and 8, Sansa did literally nothing and somehow became the smartest person in the kingdoms, Jaime went through a genuinely great arc only to backpedal at the very last moment and go back to his season 1 self, Brienne became a sniveling child because he didn't return her affections instead of just kicking his ass and dragging him back to Winterfell like she would, and Cersei was your generic Disney villain. Dany went through an entire character arc in a single episode then became Hitler. Arya was more of a plot device than a character, because what does killing the Night King accomplish? It doesn't change her, doesn't give her any growth other than simply tying up a plot. She doesn't even do what she said she was gonna do and kill Cersei.
      These are just a handful of examples.

      Tywin was good at exterminating other nobles houses. Arya had plot armor. Lord Tywin recognized her from when Ned came to the capital. Arya had plot armor. That is all she has ever been. A skinny girl with a 3 tons of plot armor. I'm tired of the Starks being stabbed to death and rising from the dead. Its so much b.s. and unfair to the other players. In Harry Potter “the Master of Death” is one who has accepted it.
    I always though Arya’s arc was about a traumatized young girl who loses so much and finds empowerment in violence and death. And that ultimately her journey will lead to finding her humanity again in those small but poignant human moments with family and good people. Or she’ll be lost to the violence and a faceless agent of death.
    The show I feel hasn’t really kept this arc and now just wants a badass assassin without deeper meaning. However as always you make some interesting and thoughtful points.
    I think Arya is is a great character, and if given more such depth, she’ll be exceptionally memorable.
    I think her being a Master of Death will mean understanding it’s consequences, it’s inevitability, and it’s more merciful or even benevolent aspects. Life is worth serving death, and death serving life, and both must be shown it’s respects as forces of nature.

    • @orionsbelt7028

      The show is precisely keeping the arc of Arya because, in the end, she refuses to kill Cersei. By doing this she is refinding her humanity (as you said) and she proves that she had not become only a badass assassin

    • @jean-louispech4921
      @jean-louispech4921 5 лет назад +4

      The show has always kept her arc.
      She was lost by her desire of vengeance , at the limit to loose her humanity and her personality. At the end of the she she becomes again herself , she know who she is and who she is not, what she wants and what she doesn't want ( like killing people on command without asking question ), etc... At the end she is a full individual who makes her own road, and is not limited by the beliefs of others ( like a girl must wear dress ).

    2. Arya danced with death, killed the Night King, her list is done and with a little help from Sandor, starts a new dance, one of life.
    My two favourite characters got good endings. And I'm okay with that.

    In a season full of character deaths, as in character arc deaths, Arya probably has the most fulfilling end of them all. Unexpected. She had her closest moment with death in Winterfell, and then learned to embrace life in King's Landing, symbolised in the white horse she chose to ride at the end.
    Although many including me disagree with her killing the Night King, she has shown throughout the years that she is as good a character as she is popular.
    I hope ep6 won't ruin the last good character in the show.

      The plot armour problem is prevalent in the last few seasons and it is revolting. It speaks to dnd's utter failure. However, I think it makes her less likable but doesn't weaken her character.

Her cause IS justice, and since early season 1 she protects, avenges, and defends not only herself and her family, but children and innocents. Sansa, Tyrion & Queen Daenerys never put themselves in situations where they could die. They have intelligence not plot armor. Arya died in Braavos at the hands of the Waif. Nor would Arya have killed the entire Frey army. She'd have died. We never saw Jacquen doing stuff like that. Nor, is she more skilled than, he. She doesn't have stealth. Jon died at Castle Black by a stabbing. He died from hypothermia beyond the wall trying to bring back a white walker. When did Arya have time to kill all the Freys and then, bake them into a pie? The pie takes at least 2 hours. Arya can't bake. We know Hotpie can bake but he wasn't there. Arya can't cook & she killed the cook. So plot armor baked the Freys into a pie. What else ya' got? Dragons are power not plot armor. Plot armor has been used to kill two dragons in the books scorpions don't work. What else ya' got? Decimating haters since 2012.
