    This is very interesting. Now I understand the lack of moons around Mercury and Venus, and why Pluto, which is smaller, has four.

      Astronomic I'm glad I have found your channel! Do you have interests in the amateur astronomy? You seem to only do videos on purely professional topics like black holes, space telescopes etc. But do you observe yourself?

      +Czech Astronomer I'm a physicist by day, so I meanly stick to the physics behind astronomy instead of the observational side. I have a telescope and I try to get out sometimes. But nothing too serious ;-)

    Can a moon have a ring

    • @stevenjones7044
      @stevenjones7044 6 лет назад +1

      Yes, but only when things begin to get sirius with another moon... And that's when moonlets get made

      An asteroid in the main asteroid belt has been found to have a ring.

      @tobiasgreeeen 5 лет назад +1

      Rings are mostly made of rocks, and if they stay inside the hillsphere of the moon, then yes.

    What if the sub moon orbits the moon in polar plane rather than equatorial plane. In this case would the orbit still decay?

    Watching this on 28/11/2017
    Exactly a year and a month later this video was released

    Our Moon has several "moons" currently. They are, of course, artificial.

    Now I need to know if a moon within a moon within a moon within a moon.... within a moon... within... hhh... a moon.... can exist.

    If the Moon wasn't tidally locked, would a subsatellite of the Moon still suffer orbital decay?

  • @Kevin27-LM
    @Kevin27-LM 7 лет назад

    smart sub-satellites , would a sun be a sub satellite to something bigger than itself like certain space gravity is bigger in mass than the suns than just other parts of space that are sub satellites to a sun.

    • @Mbrace818

      The Sun orbits the center of the galaxy.
