@@ryrygoogoo Bane of my existence is achievements that aren't possible to complete until the late game. Like Odoyev's one I just did (where you need one of each Manufactory) that requires you to play until Coal spawns because a Furnace is technically a Manufactory.
I did this while playing what I thought would be a casual run even naming it something like “casual portugal game” or something but got England PU’d in the first 5-10 years of the game and that spiralled into me going for a ton of PU’s including the commonwealth, Austria, Burg, etc and using that (and a big sweden) to turn what was supposed to be a casual game into a long but relatively simple and really really lucky achievement run

Ah I did this run recently. It was going great until my eternal ally Sweden that I'd supported the entire game turned into Scandinavia, which didn't count as a formable, though bafflingly Prussia does. Still ended up being a relatively relaxed achievment but the criteria arbitrarily including some formables but not others is baffling.
Historically, Calais took 5 years to besiege. Edward III shattered the French Army, then instead of marching on Paris, he turned around and just sat in front of Calais with his navy blocking it by sea. The reason was -- as history would bear out -- Calais was such a tough nut to crack that once you had it, it was virtually impossible to lose it.
I did the Bologna into Texas achievement recenty and the age of reformation didnt start until 1540. Then the league war was really early and despite there being hardly any non catholic nations and despite the Ottomans joining on the catholic side, the protestants won
Waste your iberian reconquest vassals to get diplo vassels in germany only to decide 'fuck it' and abandon your efforts to get the diplo vassals in favour of conquest anyway. Bruh.
I mean, people do world conquests as inuit. You've already got the powerhouses of France and Sweden too in the Blue corner. A few clicks for diplo-vassalizing is infinitely less tedious than truce juggling and coalition avoiding.
depends on the player

Should've gone into Morocco for the gold mine + 100 years goods produced modifier for it after the bullion famine event.

Is there a way to deliberately get PU's because I've never gotten a si gle PU other than burgundy.

Probably would have been better to keep France happy, and focus on Spain and England. The stronger your blue allies the less work you need to do.
