    Correction on the COSRX product! It has Betaine Salicylate + Willow Bark Water in place of Salicylic Acid. I'm not sure where I was looking that had Salicylic Acid listed as an ingredient- sorry for the confusion! But same story regardless as there's no definitive research on efficacy of those ingredients at 4% vs. 2% SA. Completely depends on how it works for your skin and there's no right answer!

    Hi! The Cosrx's uses Betaine Salicilate which is a gentler form of Salicylic Acid, it's at 4% which is theoretically equivalent to 2% pure Salicylic Acid. :) love the review!

    It's great to see a higher level of BHA and AHA in a more accessible product. I won't be using it due to my skin being super sensitive. I hope CeraVe makes an Azelaic Acid product.

      As she stated glycolic acid is the most potent aha for resurfacing and this is a gel which is left on all day or night
      The psoriasis cleanser and moisturizer only contains lactic acid, no glycolic, making it good for super sensitive skin while still getting the other ingredients
      The gel would most likely be more beneficial for acne/aging if your skin can handle the combo of salicylic & glycolic & lactic
      I'm almost wanting to buy the psoriasis cleanser and use with this with the gel?! Since After using the sa cleanser i fear using the acne control cleanser with the gel would b too harsh

    Some other options:
    Peach Slices Acne Toner- 2% Salicylic and has undisclosed amounts of lactic and glycolic acid. $10.99 for 4 oz so only $2.75/oz.
    Sephora ClearSkinDays Clarifying Serum- 2% Salicylic and 5% Glycolic. $12 for 1.76 oz so $6.8/oz (currently on sale for $8)
    Both fragrance free
    Also just FYI the Cosrx Bha Blackhead Power Liquid doesnt have 4% Salicylic Acid. It has 4% Betaine Salicylate which is said to be about half as strong as Salicylic acid, so its considered comparable to 2% SA. Almost no korean skincare has actual SA but use betaine salicylate as a BHA instead

    I recently bought the Vanicream gentle cleanser based on your recommendation and I absolutely LOVE it! I absolutely LOVE the Cosrx BHA liquid. I use it on my arms too, and it has completely eliminated the KP bumps I suffered with for YEARS. Works well to prevent I grown hairs and odour in the armpits, reduces callouses on my feet, gets rid of dark rough patches on my elbows and knees. It's a wonderful product.
    It's so difficult for me to get Paula's Choice in Canada, and I found the BHA liquid to be too much trouble to get a hold of more than once. I've been really happy with the Clinique Alcohol Free Twice Daily Exfoliating Solution - it's essentially the same product, at half the price, twice the size, and I'd easier for me to access.

    Abbey, if you like this you must try the Peach Slices Acne Exfoliating Toner. Dr. Dray described it as a possible dupe to the PC 2% BHA. But it has lactic and glycolic in the mix! Sold at Ulta. I tried it on half my face using the PC and half using Peach Slices and the performance is wry similar. Both give me a shiny glow within hours. But the PC is more hydrating/greasy. The Peach dries down matte.

    I have always loved Philosophy Clear Days Ahead salicylic acid 1% lotion for when I can feel my skin is going to erupt. • @sassypineapple
    @sassypineapple 3 года назад +4

    I appreciate your commitment to detail and cost breakdown. I would like to respectfully say that I do think Cerave is the better bargain because you’re getting more actives/more superior ingredients, and the serum/treatment requires much less product to spread on your skin, thus using less at a time (in my experience). I burn through those watery toner-type things too quickly.
    (And side note, Asian skin care will never have real salicylic acid in their products because it’s prescription only over there. Hence, why they only use derivatives/milder forms/“cousins” to SA).
    That being said, and being a huge Cerave fan and buying/trying everything they’ve ever released, I still do think their Psoriasis line is their most outstanding line by far. ( Sooooo many incredible effective ingredients. And I don’t even have psoriasis). If I ever finish everything else and have to choose one (perish the thought!), it’ll be the Psoriasis cleanser/moisturizer for my acne/exfoliating actives.

  • @JaeggerPendoley
    @JaeggerPendoley 3 года назад +1

    Anytime Cerave doesn’t disclose it’s BHA content it is because it is below the % threshold considered to be effective/active ingredient. Same with Aveeno and some of its oat products. So personally I never bother with those products, they don’t do anything for me and I’m seeking out those ingredients (bha, oats) for a specific purpose. :) *to clarify yes other brands disclose bha/aha under 0.5% but legally they don’t have to since it really won’t do that much to the skin. Also COSRX bha is not salicylic acid but instead Betaine salicylate (most likely butchered the spelling 😅) this is a more gentle form of salicylic and my personal fave but it doesn’t have as much clinical studies/data behind it and seems to not work as well for those with more stubborn oily/acne skin, this is of course anecdotal, but I would say it’s much better for those with drier skin such as myself :D

    We can get testing strips for the ph. The work well and are inexpensive. Angie of Hot and Flashy has several videos testing AHAs and vitamin c serums. Fun videos I think you would enjoy!

    Dr dray did a video on this the other day. And cerave new SA wash. I only see Target with them. Not cvs, ulta or walgreens yet.
    And I guess Amazon, but prices are higher, when I checked. But, faster delivery.

      I think you’re mistaken. CereVe does not make an oil based cleanser - at least not yet. And the concept of “foaming oil cleanser” makes no logical sense since any type of oil would disrupt the process of “foaming”.

    The ph should not be a secret,a ph strip can easily tell us this though.

    Thanks for the review! I'll probably be picking this up soon since my skin has freaked out from trying a couple new serums. Cerave tends to work really well for me so Ihave high hopes for it. ❤
