Do you have an address I could have some electrolyte drink powder and some energy gels sent to you from a company called The Feed. They distribute electrolyte replacement, energy gels with and without caffeine. I use them in my current job as a truck driver when I am sweating my ass off unloading hot asphalt cement. Anyway, when you get light headed from heat stroke a gel tube and a bottle of electrolytes will get you going a while lot better than water alone. That being said, some of the flavors they have are creative, chocolate cake, hot pepper, etc. but they work, especially for a couple young guys like you and I (ok, 66 here 😊). Be safe stay cool and hydrated. Doc
I have kept Bees before and I'll bet that this represents a unique give where not all of the Bees are fully Africanizes. As you were extracting the comb the Bees that were closest to the corner of the house were sticking (no pun intended) tight to the comb and seemed to be acting like normal honey bees. Not sure but usually when you start to pull comb everyone is up and out. What do you think? Is this a mid takeover or transition hive? DNA analysis would be if academic interest. It doesn't really matter because they were hitting you like hail but the odd behavior of the end of the hive was not able. Doc
I was in 1st and 2nd grade when we lived in Arizona, and I love watching these videos! Not just for the comraderie, and the humor, and interest in bugs, but I love the scenery. It takes be back to my childhood, and I feel like I am getting to visit areas that I never got to visit before.
What do you need, sometimes, so it seems, it’s a member your group that you can call upon who has a really long arms. If it was only practical impossible. An idea that isn’t going to go anywhere.
The cooling equippment is fantastic, I wish we had that here in Sweden. Usually I put a cold water hankersheef (sorry for spelling) behind my neck. Inside the suit.

Back here in WVa we call house like that made by good enough carpenters stand up the board and if it looks good nail it,our house was off by a 6 Inches in the upstairs it was a boarding house for the logging company
I am curious about a couple things, meaning zI have a couple questions, please understand I am fairly new to your channel and I had no idea the K-B problem is this terrible. It is a real crime the media had not nor currently does not adequately cover this nightmare, but here they are. Isn’t that spray adhesive harmful to the lungs? If so, is there a respirator that will fit under the fencing face guard? Supposing the filters could get gummed up from it, would a bandana taped to the outside of the fencing guard help stop the glue so it helps protect the respirator filters? What I am saying is, what I would do for myself, it it can be done, is wear the respirator under the face guard and have my co-worker secure a good piece of fabric over the lower half of the guard. I would do the same for he/her. I just want you all to be careful. Please share your thought, I watch not only for the fun but the education.
Only if put in a bag and inhaled. It is dry at around 6" from the can and falls to the ground as a fine non toxic dust. But it sure works well to stick the bees wings together!
I still believe that the use of water and some type of dish soap would be far better more effective and Easier to apply than using the arisol cans. It's so difficult to handle the cans or you're hanging by one arm. Plus using a back-mounted sprayer would make it so much easier to apply.
Reed and Hosh both know about the stinging incident at the end of my block. It involved a work crew cleaning a yard. One dead, on hurt so bad im not sure he is able to work anymore and more people got stung. The local PD had the block cordoned off. Tgese things are real. I've had tgem bestow their presence on my propery.
We clean them until they start walking around on their own. Dan and Mel from the Blue Water Cafe in MN bought us new suits so we are using those! Don Sharr from PA got a new suit for Trez!
Would one of them pool noodles cut in half to length affixed to the top of the bonnet keep the bonnet extended away from the face from further stings be a possibility.

I was just thinking, instead of filling the vent holes with spray foam, why not just staple some metal screening over them. Another thing, wouldn’t it be cool to get together with a spray foam co and have them make a foam with an insecticide in it.

I always try to be nice. But you guys scared the hell out of me I kept beers in Arizona, but gave them up in 2013 because I moved . At that time I was requeening every year. Africanized bees are no joke. I was planning on starting again where I live now. But…. I’m starting to have second thoughts. I had a huge basil garden, I would look for the green honey, and it was incredible. Putting basil on honey, the flavor it does not work, and does not give us that incredible flavor, I’ve naturally gathered basil, pollen and honey. But I can live without it. When I had bees, the place where I set them up, I discovered a wild hive. Four months earlier it wasn’t there.. the bees were very gentle and we’re not aggressive….. they were Africanized bees. It was just a matter of time when they got big enough. I exterminated the hive. Then sealed off all the access points. This was my first experience, and my last at this point with a wild hive.. my nephew was not that lucky. He introduced me to be keeping. He followed some bees to a retaining wall. I don’t know what he was doing, but a piece of a brick fell off. He ran about a block and a half, got into the house, and then into the shower. He counted so he says six dead bees in the shower. There were dozens of them in the house. It had been my mothers condo until she passed away, there is bug spray everywhere, which he did not use…. Until then. He nearly poison himself with bug spray. I forgot how many dead bees he collected…. Nor how many stings he ended up with from just the bees left in the house. It was 2010. There’s a big man, and ended up just for safety sake going to the emergency room. He really queen his hives ASAP, and he suited up completely, which he practically never did for a very long time till you were sure that there was no offspring of the killer bee drones left alive.
These bees didn't seem like killer bees though? They didn't seem to swarm you and cover you like actual killer bees do? The many videos of killer bee removals, all seem to have this in common that the actual suits almost is covered in bees to the point where it's almost difficult to see the suit, whereas these doesn't seem to behave like that _at all_?
That's part of the problem with these bees. Two things: you can't tell them by looking, they look the same as European and their behavior at any given moment means nothing about their genetics!

It works great. I had WAY too many complaints about the mess. Had to stop after threats of lawsuits.

To help have a continuous "knockdown" why not have a vacuum going? Even the ones on the comb can be vacuumed! Just curious!
