Lauren Boebert removed from ‘Beetlejuice’ performance after laughing and vaping: report

- Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., was escorted out of a Denver theater’s performance of the "Beetlejuice" musical Sunday after causing a disturbance involving laughing, singing, recording and vaping, according to a report.
The Denver Post reported that in an incident shared with the publication Tuesday, it was written that two patrons at a performance of the touring Broadway show were asked to leave the Buell Theatre, which is owned by the City of Denver.
The two were reportedly given warnings during intermission that it received three complaints from attendees.
Five minutes into the second act, security reportedly received another complaint about the patrons "being loud and at the time (they) were recording," which is prohibited at shows.
One of the ushers, the publication said of the report, was quoted as saying, "They told me they would not leave. I told them that they need to leave the theater and if they do not, they will be trespassing. The patrons said they would not leave. I told them I would (be) going to get Denver Police. They said go get them."
While Boebert and the other patron were not identified in the report, the Congresswoman confirmed on X, formerly known as Twitter, that she was guilty.
"It’s true, I did thoroughly enjoy the AMAZING Beetlejuice at the Buell Theatre and I plead guilty to laughing and singing too loud," she posted. "Everyone should go see it if you get the chance this week, and please let me know how it ends!"
Boebert’s campaign manager, Drew Sexton, also told The Post that Boebert denied vaping, though she did take a photo of the performance with her cellphone, claiming she did not know photos were not permitted.

Boebert lied. Was this video edited to not show her vaping? Because I've seen video footage that clearly showed she was vaping. After that footage went public, she apologized. The apology sounded like it was crafted by a very reasonable person. Unfortunately there is no way for me to know whether she actually wrote it, or if somebody with a bit more awareness did it for her. Hopefully she learns something from this. I know she used her divorce as an excuse, she might want to get that divorce cleared up before inappropriate partying with some other dude disrupting theater for the general public. And by the way, flipping off the usher who was just doing his job. At least the theater goers got to enjoy the rest of the show without her inconsiderate behavior.

I live near a large evangelical church. Many of them live in the neighborhood. They're very much like her. They define themselves as "not one of them." They thrive on drama (a reason to gossip amongst themselves; reinforcing the "not one of them" feeling.). Their identity is _SO_ tied up in all this that they can't see they're the flip side of the same coin. They're entitled, "rules for thee, not for me" and don't even see it. They thrive on a persecution complex. Anything that goes wrong is an "attack." But, if one of their non-believer neighbors object to their encroachments, suddenly "cluck, cluck, cluck.... One of 'them' is being difficult." Horrible people.

@@CN-dl2cj I went through a period of "born-again" belief. I get where they're coming from. But, it's just an "identity." It serves one's own ego to believe they're saved, or that "god's working on me" (when I need to work on me. My problem is _not_ taking responsbility for myself. At the same time thinking I have the answer for everyone else.). It's a great place to be for as long as you can "make it work." Then it turns into group-membership; the social benefits of "us" (vs them). The increased judgementalism necessary to make the story work.
I live where there's an alley behind houses (adjacent streets). The dumpsters have "migrated" to the congregants back gates. Like, it's more their dumpster than anyone else's. My neighbor had the dumpster pulled 30' to a congregant's gate. The other dumpster pulled 15' to another congregant's. We talked about it because the 15' mover put it by my gate, as if I'd done it. So, I talked to my neighbor about it. "hey, that wasn't me. And, to be honest... I'd contact the city. Have them put the dumpsters back where they belong ('do not move') stickers which they use in such cases." He didn't want to do it, for fear of more "wrath" from the "in group" people. They're shameless about it. They drug the communal dumpster which had been near his gate, equal-distant to him and 2 others. Took it to their own gate. Another congregant lives behind me and hoards that dumpster. They drag it back and forth. Nobody wins. He finally gave up.
They are horrible people because they're convinced they have a charmed life, made the right choices, right relationships with the right invisible people. They get the perks. Everyone else is a prop in their world.

@fah, federal law wouldn't apply. State laws on carrying (especially ccw permits especially) empower the police to confiscate a gun from an intoxicated person (not just "under the influence." But, the distinction is vague). Even revoke their ccw permit for 2-3 years. This happened in Colorado. CRS § 18-12-106 makes it a crime to posess a gun while under the influence. 1st offence is 1 yr and/or up to $1k fine. (Subsequent offence is 3yr and/or up to $100k.).
This is a gray area because many people (half the population) have guns at home. They often get loaded (no pun intended) at home. So, alcohol & guns do mix. Just not in public (or on the road in your car). Some states only prohibit concealed carry in establishments serving alcohol (not necessarily "drunk while carrying."). People travel or move & don't know the laws are more stringent. A federal law would make things more uniform. But, more subject to a 2nd amendment challenge (the 2nd amendment was originally a bar upon congressional infringement, not state. It was the 14th amendment that extended the first 8 bills of right to states. And then that wasn't "incorporated" by the derelict supreme court until 2005'ish. It's all a very interesting story.).
