Hi, my name is Leo Cosma and I've been over several years the choreographer of Daniela Silivas. Daniela asked me to help her to do choreographic movements for this exercise, which I accepted with the greatest pleasure. I feel particularly honored and blessed, lucky to see the result of my work with amazing Daniela and her magnificent interpretation has such an impact, even after all these years. Thank you. With friendly thoughts of gratitude, Leo Cosma
One of the premier routines of the golden era. For me, Daniela Silivas is one of the most complete athletes the sport has ever produced. She had that little extra something that truly set her apart, something you can't teach; I can only call it charisma.
Golden Era imdeed! I used to love gymnastics but I can barely stomach elite gymnastics anymore--too many cookie-cutter routines, too little artistry and expression. 1988 had some amazing gymnastics!
I will take this routine over any of the modern day ones. Without exception. The rules at that time allowed the ladies to actually feel their music. Real choreography.. Real dance.
@QPHashSS77 Like who, yourself? This is actual dance, it may not to a professional standard, but it's actual dance; as was once required by the code. So once again, it's yourself who needs to keep quiet. Because you're here once again embarrassing yourself trying to correct people on topics you don't know enough about.
She put on a performance, the choreography fits in perfectly with the Music and the added sound effects enhanced her magnificent tumbling. Her hands and feet were so graceful and her face showed so much emotion(pure joy). This is what a floor routine in artistic gymnastics should be. Thank god the announcers didn’t ruin it by talking through the performance. They knew greatness.
@QPHashSS77 Compulsories were actually a good foundation for basics which were transferrable to optional routines. Today we see gymnasts competing who have very poor basics, personally I think a return of the compulsories (using the 10 code) would be great for the sport but keep the open ended scoring system for optional routines.
I'm applying to become a women's artistic gymnastics coach, my main goal is to bring that elegance and grace back to the mat. Give me a few more years and we'll see how it goes.
Silivas has the most amazing floor routine ever performed and I mean like.. EVER. I absolutely LOVE her ankle dance and the most amazing and difficult tumblings ever. Her routine is pure perfection!
She’s my idol and she’s my favorite of all, she was 16 and I was 16 in the year 1988. Making all 16 year old teenagers around th world proud of her. Daniela’s the reason who made my 16 years of age the best and incredible year because of this floor exercise.
Showing my age, and putting into perspective how long ago this was, our family has just got our first ever video recorder, and I recorded these Olympics and watched this floor routine until the tape fell apart. 😀
Thank you very much🤗
The gesture she does when she lands on the corner is so graceful. Is that a gymnastic element cuz she extends her head so far back? For me its worth a point at least..
I miss this era of gymnastics. The Compulsaries, then the optionals where the gymnasts showcase their originality mixed with great choreographies. Thank God for these little girls, they're such great athletes!!
Such a shame that the U.S. didn't go to these Olympics--not so much because we didn't compete but because all American eyes were not on this extraordinary athlete at her peak. Stunning.
The USA did compete at these Olympics. The USA women's gymnastics team finished 4th, and Phoebe Mills took bronze on beam. 🙂 Perhaps you were thinking of the 1980 Olympics?

The 80s were the peak for Artistic Gymnastics. Please bring back the compulsories, the perfect 10 code, the artistry...

This is one of the most amazing, beautiful and intense floor routines ever.
I almost cry when I see this perfection! One of my favorite routines of all times, true Legend!
Better than ANY of the modern day routines. Will we ever see this again?
I wish. That will be awesome.
She was amazing! Very innovative! She incorporated pop moves in her routine. I think she was the first to ever do that in gymnastics history.
My favorite gymnast of all time! She did a double twisting double back in her first pass in the team event!
Silivas has the most amazing floor routine ever performed and I mean like.. EVER. I absolutely LOVE her ankle dance and the most amazing and difficult tumblings ever. Her routine is pure perfection!
CarmenRosa MarisolZoila and her compulsories are perhaps the best ever! It's a pity FIG left them out of the competitions
Best routine, the Olympic Games, of all time.

Still the best after all these years.
What a fun routine, one of my all time favorites by one of my all time favorites to watch. You don't see routines like this nowadays.

What a great performance.. She is just incredible.
She is fantastic! Elegance, power, beauty...love the music and the choreography. Beautiful!!!
I’m obsessed with this routine, as well as Deliana Vodenitcharova’s. 88 was an amazing year for gymnastics!
この演技が1番好き😊

Es la rutina de suelo más hermosa de todos los tiempos...bella línea y única Daniela Silivas...👏👏👏👏👏

SHE ANSWER 10.000
And, as a gymnast at the time, OF COURSE I incorporated her floor move where she lifts up off her knees and circles around. 🤣
what a champ
Amo essa ginasta ❤️🇧🇷🥰🇷🇴
