Tony was a solo guy with his own music/material and was told he would be signed as long as he pushed the ruse that he was in a band who all contributed - they just eventually discovered Brian had a great voice and utilised it but the first 2 albums are pretty much Mortimer solo albums with half the lyrics being sung by Brian
