The one downside the smart AI had is that the soldiers did not prioritise the base over their own lives, so they'd always fall back to hide behind its defenses while regrouping rather than buying a bit of extra time for reinforcements. But hey other than that they made the individual soldier's life go much further than their enemy, and that paid off when they got the shield guy.
I dont think that was a downside at all. its like health points in MTG we always say its a resource. The AI used the base health as a resource for time.
I don't think it's a bad idea actually, they are using the base's health points in exchange for stacking for MANPOWER. I wonder if the smart AI will sacrifice their own lives if the base is like below 20% health
The only hit that counts is the last one, a damaged building still produces troops just fine. As long as the building does not get fully demolished the damage it takes is simply not important. It actually makes a ton of sense to let it soak shots in order to bolster your numbers. The enemy can't attack oranges troops while they are covered by the building thus allowing their numbers to swell and for orange to retaliate without losing firepower.
With 1v1, 1v2, and 1v3, the normal AI just didn't have enough numbers to seriously threaten the smart AI. With 1v4, there was a legitimate chance, but once the shield unit entered for the smart AI, it was over, as the regular AI couldn't kill the shield unit before he retreated for a new set of armor.
I consider them LUCKY That their shield guy DIDN'T DIE on them on 1v4-otherwise they would've folded like papier-mache because of the shield guy cooldown mechanic
@tylerlarsen1842 @roboplayer5133 Maybe in this video, the shield guy indeed is a bit too powerful for the smart team. I just didn't want to change the mechanics from the original smart AI video to avoid any speculation that I altered the mechanics to favor one of the teams.
@marblesbattle well-if one side HAS Something the other doesn't-then "Being fair" is thrown out the windows-but despite the numbers the smart team managed to survive the INITIAL Onslaught that the 4 team definitely unfairly got thanks to the starting marble spawns-meaning Smart group were on the back burner and ACTUALLY Could've lose thanks to the numbers disparity.

It would be a bit more reasonable then the shield guy cooldown NEVER Going down. And hey you could probably have the second shield guy covering the backline of rubbles and go foward to take the former guy place as he falling back.-cuz thats the smart thing to do in a team

It paid off but just barely. When it got to the four AI enemies, the smart one very nearly lost their base.
Small change to retreat when helmet's down, sticking together and firing when retreating from outnumbering enemy yet what a performance increase!

But overall I think smart team won and technically ARE The underdogs in this situation thanks to numbers disadvantage.
