    Loving the temperature of the CBBs, same color as a new Lexus.
    Ive been running the morimoto 5500k for about 3 months now and they still have a green tint to them, kinda like the Philips XV.

    I got the cbbs with d2s5.0s I decided to go with the xv2s I found them much better for visibility and pleasing to the eyes. The cbb just seemed like I was looking through a tinted windshield nice color but the performance wasn't amazing but still better than the morimoto xb5500 and xb6500 that's for sure

    I have the Phillips Xtreme Vision D3S in my 2014 Ford SHO and like them. However, at 4800k they're slightly too warm with a tad yellow/green hue. What bulb do you suggest that is both bright and more white color? Thanks for all these test videos!!

  • @Swaggaccino
    @Swaggaccino 6 лет назад +3

    I've had both CBI and CBBs. They say CBI has a hint of blue and I strongly disagree. It's pure white (closer to 5000k than 6000k). However CBBs are white with a hint of blue (closer to 6000k than 7000k).

      @technicalnonsense 6 лет назад +4

      That depends on what is more important to you.
      Total Light Output or Color?
      The Gen 2 Xtreme vision is the brightest OEM bulb currently available.
      The White Vision gen 2 is the Whitest bulb currently produce by Philips but it is still not as white as the CBI or CBB and does not produce the same level of output.
      I currently have the Gen2 X-treme Vision in my vehicle and I am glad I chose that.
      Output is awesome with a enough white to please me but still has a tinge of yellow to inclement weather driving.
      One thing I've noticed is that modern cars that comes with LED these days are around the 5500-6500k color temp and during rainy condition the road absorbs almost all of the light.

      I've noticed the same thing with my D2S Morimoto 5500k bulbs, and not just in rainy conditions. The light gets absorbed so much that it gets hard to see. I was going to get the CBB, but it looks like it will have the effect at night.

    • @technicalnonsense
      @technicalnonsense 6 лет назад

      The Ultinon bulb is a complete failure in my book.
      The color is not as pure white as the CBI and also comes in marginally brighter than a stock 85122 philips bulb.
      The CBI/CBB or Philips X-treme would be noticeably brighter than the WX.
      That being said, the WX is the whitest of all the current Philips bulb being produce but it still does not compare to the CBB in terms of output.

    • @chadmckinney7413
      @chadmckinney7413 6 лет назад +1

      Based on my experience with D3S CBB:
      Looking head on at the lights I would say they are pretty close to what you see in LED-equipped headlights. I have the Philips Ultinon H8 LED replacement foglight bulbs and the color temps looking directly at the lights is very close. The light cast on the ground by the D3S CBB however is noticeably different from an LED. CBB appears blue/green compared to a more purple/pure white that I see in some LED-equipped cars (Acura/Lexus). Compared to the Toyota Corolla and Chevy trucks the CBB appears less blue/purple and closer to a pure white. Keep in mind this is in OEM JEEP D3S housings (Valeo).

    • @Levi-oq6ki

      Chad McKinney I’ve been searching for a d3s bulb that replicates the purple/pure white color of leds, do u know of any that provide similar results. I’m trying to get that bright icy white light from my stock projectors (golf mk7) but after hearing the d3s cbb is disappointing in both color and output, I’m wondering if I should just go w xv gen 2’s for max performance. Or maybe white visions? Which d3s bulb would u recommend the most?

    • @chadmckinney7413
      @chadmckinney7413 6 лет назад

      To be honest with you, I don't know. Wish I could give you a definitive answer short of saying retrofit your car to LED. I'm still feeling let down by the D3S CBB in the Jeep after roughly 15 hours of break-in. However they have lost some of the blue tinge and are shifting ever-so-slightly to white. Do they look like LED? Head-on from another vehicle you would probably think they are. The light cast on the ground is still telling a different story. I wish I could capture an accurate representation with with my Nikon DSLR, but I just can't. Thinking I'm going to order up White Vision Gen 2 and do a comparison. White Vision Gen 2 in my E90 BMW (D1S w/ Hella Ballast) is still blowing away the D3S CBB in my WK2 Jeep. This may always be the case no matter which bulbs are in either car due to the optics and the fact that D3S is quite different from D1S.

    • @Levi-oq6ki
      @Levi-oq6ki 6 лет назад

      Chad McKinney Interestingly Osrams site lists the luminous flux of the d3s cbb as 200 lumens lower than the d1s cbb, so it might be due to differences between bulb types. Has the output improved and did you get a chance to test white visions in d3s? A comparison of the two in your stock
      jeep projectors would be great.

    • @chadmckinney7413
      @chadmckinney7413 6 лет назад

      They have shifted from noticeably blue to more white. There has been no discernible difference in output with the color shift. I have not tried the Philips bulbs yet as the daylight hours are getting longer quickly, so headlight usage is minimized. Therefore it isn't concerning me at the moment. Once Fall hits I may be back at it trying to find a better alternative.

      I wouldn't judge it by this video. It's using two separate projectors - with a camera phone to come up the video - could sway results. This is just for lux/color comparison.

I just popped them in they are are more yellow than my previous phillips 6k ultinon D4S bulbs. You are right. However, I turned them on and off a few more times and a few times they'd light up as purple and then gradually go to a yellower shade. I did read that some bulbs require a month to burn in, though usually they start off more blue and turn white. I will give it a few weeks and reply back how my experience goes. I bought off Amazon because seller was rated high and I figured returns would be easy if fake.@@Sulfuristik

    You description is confusing along with what you show in video, you had Philips on top and Osram on bottom and then when you tested you said it was Extreme Vision?? Then you switched bulb into different projector and gave reading for CBB. Very confusing and not sure which was which. This test was a failure, sorry. I could see the Osram CBB was whiter which was on bottom, you tested output first but called it Extreme Vision, then you shut down top bulb put into projector that you had CBB in? Then tested it and called it a CBB.
    ALL the tests I've seen are flawed yours, TheRetrofitSourse, and others. WHY, do you continue to hand hold the projector??? That's NOT a controlled condition. MOUNT the projector and swap out bulbs instead of moving the projector around, unless you like being vague with these tests. You have meter mounted, bulb mounted(in projector), and then hand hold moving it around.
    Shouldn't be to difficult to mount projector, properly aim mounted projector with "controll bulb" use same ballast AND projector for ALL tests then all you have to do is swap bulbs.

    • @LightwerkzGlobal
      @LightwerkzGlobal  6 лет назад +2

      I'm sorry to hear you found the test confusing and flawed. I rewatched it myself and couldn't find any confusion on my end. We showed two different bulbs, in two different projectors at first with the Extreme Vision up top, CBB on the bottom. Got the lux in low beam mode, then in high beam mode, and then took the CBB out of the other projector and placed it into the same projector that the lux readings taken in to be as close to apples to apples comparison. The CBB was being shown while I was walking up to the wall, but it was removed and the Extreme Vision was brought into the picture for lux testing. I'm sorry to hear hand holding the projector bothers you, have you considered doing your own tests? As with anything you see on the internet, best to take it with a grain of salt =)
