Since you can get the same profit (about 110k ish) with 2 games doing 1500 damage each in a mutant. The rest he managed to get from a credit booster and some other event.
Don't forget - For every new IS-3A, there's probably 2 new Defenders, 3 new E25s and maybe 3-4 new LefH. Oh, and as with many of these kinds of things - it's the fault of both producer & consumer in equal part. WG did not HAVE to have lootboxes, and players did not HAVE to buy them - both made did what they did out of choice. Everyone loses at the end of the day, because the game itself has degraded in quality.

It's a vicious cycle - If people had stood against loot boxes first time around and not bought them, they would not have been there a second time. So many undesirable practices in this world are just as much the fault of the consumer in this same way - because the consumer willingly chooses to pay the producer money for their actions, which to them is basically saying, "Hey, good job - keep it up and you'll get more." But of course, people always like to think they are not to blame for anything - and so they prefer to sit back and watch things fall apart all around them, even actively participating in it while deflecting the blame, rather than think for a second that they might actually have to take a sliver of responsibility for something.
Statistics show, that chnace of getting e25 or lefh is inda 1/70. So there is not very much of them coming to the server. And while lefh is a good vehicle indeed, it requires player great deal of skill to be able to influence the game. Otherwise it its just... meh. Pretty much same thing with e25. Yes, it used to be totally OP. But more because it was so popular. When there are 5 e25s on a both teams, the game is broken. When there is one, it highly depends on a map and an opposition, if there would be any influence. And again, no, e25 is not a vehicle that substitutes skill. You have to play it well, or you will make 400 dam and 0.7 kills with it. Concerning lootboxes... meh. People are making their choices themselves. You are getting guaranteed as much gold and prem as you have payed for. You are getting that grinding/farming boost from them. So in my opinion, WG lootboxes this year are fair deal.
That explains why we see so much brainless KV 220 which is as annoying for gameplay than IS3A or Lefh... Enjoy battles lost because someone (really bad player) spend the money on that c... and even premium ammos struggle to deal with it.

I agree with you but its too late, these changes should have been done 2 years ago when we as all shouting at WG about this, the CC went to Crypus to fix it and they got chatted up and fedd BS as no changes really happen. Why Wargaming was making too much money to care what player, sorry customers think. There wont be any changes WG are aware of there market they know the player numbers are falling why do you think we keep getting T8 premium tanks every month its to make as much as they can while they can the game is dying I played for about five to six years solid. I stopped then came back a year ago on a new account and yup big changes not in gameplay but in the sheer number of players that have two or more premium T8 tanks. What's worse is before in the old days before patch 9.5 Premium T8s always were on average worse than a standard T8 tank once a player had elited the T8 tank. Simple example the IS6 (old)vs IS3 the IS6 had better slanted front armour but had a weakspot hatch right on centre front which has now been removed it had terrible aim time accuracy and T7 pen which is why it had the pref mm. The IS3 was faster had better pen if i recall only slightly worse rof its turret was better especially frontally and the is3 frontal armour when angled was pretty bouncy especially against IS6 drivers. Fast forward to today the IS6 has better frontal armour better rof improved pen better prem round no frontal weakspots and its speed was improved too why the fuck would you play the IS3 or the KV4 if the IS6 was an option. That's the problem the T8 premium heavies are flat out better in every regard than it's nation standard T8 heavy. (T34 actually has alpha compared to the T32) the Lowe (better armour aim time and accuracy than the Tiger 2 and VK45A) the French T8 M49 better frontal armour better turret better rof less alpha than the AMX 65t. Oh god and the Italian T8 Prem Medium is so much better than the Panthera its not even funny and the T8 polish heavy the Hussar better ROF better frontal armour better aim time. Its just ridiculous WG are killing there own game faster by just making these superior in every way T8 prems because they know whats left of the collector base will spend the money to get them.

I suggest a traditional autoloader with the following reload times: Drum reload: 35sec Intra-clip reload: 5 seconds And the gun handling should be a bit worse than a traditional IS-3, which tbh is not competitive when you can just buy a Patriot or Defender
RIP WoT. Some players only bought the loot crates for gold and/or premium time. Many bought for the chance to get premium vehicles. Sadly, it does not matter what your reason was to give WG money after they continually add OP P2W vehicles and other major issues. We the players had one last chance to get their attention by keeping our wallets closed in protest. We failed.

@@easterneagle8811 i bought some for 40€. Got gold worth 40€ + defender + 2 weeks premium + all the tier 5 prems. If you only need prem, then its not worth, otherwise you dont really lose anything, when you would spend the money either way for buying gold or whatever.

They removed it for a reason, you ppl hate on WG way to much. So many other games have put OP items in loot boxes, and JUST loot boxes, with no other reward. Meaning its either you win a big prize, or you get NOTHING at all. At least WG was generous enough to give us prem time AND gold worth from loot boxes.

I've managed to do well in it without Gold Ammo,. My main failing, is I get overconfident, move up too far and then get vapourized by multiple enemies at short range. :D

Ben Flap IS-5 was a Clam Wars reward vehicle, so it wasn’t available to the average pub scrub like the IS-3A was. Honestly, in its original guise the IS-3A was one of the last of the “old-school” premiums i.e. better than a stock tank of the tier, but worse than an elited tank. When you consider that the IS-3 was one of the best tier 8 heavy tanks at the time, the idea of having a slightly worse version that made premium credits and crew training was decently appealing. However, since it predated the stupid template system, most people would rather have had the Pref MM IS-6 (with the full four-man crew) than the full mm IS-3A (which lacked a loader).
I dont see the problem with Loot Boxes if you are a player who buys gold and prem time anyway. Its a great deal and you get tons of extra gold, tanks, etc. I save my WOT money for Christmas and buy like a banshee. And I dont regret it one bit. I added all the stuff I got and it calculates to getting $3 of stuff for every $1 spent. Ill do that every time WOT will let me
EL CHRIS out of 15$ i got 1500 gold. 200,000 credits and all level 5 decorations were the ones i already had and didnt get any leveling up on xmash tree :D would have gotten 2,7k gold just buying in regular way. #super unlucky :D
I've checked three tier viii games with the most dmg (in a standard battle mode) from patch 9.0 (back in 2014). Those three games had 6 premium tanks in total. Just to illustrate - that means out of 90 tanks, only 6 were premiums - 3 were Super Pershing (which was the first marathon award vehicle given in a patch or two before the release of patch 9.0), two were t34s (also at one point gifted vehicles to all players who actually had that tank in a garage before it was removed from the tech tree and before it became a premium patch 7. something) and 1 was KV5. I've checked first three tier viii games sorted by date from this patch - 42 premium tanks out of 90. I don't think WoT ever made more money, even when the numbers of actual people playing the game are dropping.
I had the IS3A when it was first released, I played it rarely and don’t play it very often now because I still don’t like it . I prefer the Somua SM . Most people will think I’m strange but my play style suits the French tank more
i think the somua is underrated and really fun. it sacrifices the speed the lorr 40t has for a bit more armor and an extra shell. its awesome to wait until the perfect time, then dump 5 rounds into somebody

I've seen IsS-3As on my team several times already, and I am thoroughly unimpressed with their performance. I'm expecting, from listening to you, that they should be able to devastate the enemy team, but it sure doesn't look like they're doing it

Well, I bought 100 lootboxes in total. and didnt get the IS3-A. Got plenty of tier 5 premiums from them and 1 Skorpion G. However, on thing that was positively about these lootboxes for me was that a random player bought me 3 of them after I tried to help him in a game where he flipped over but failed and got him killed. With this kind of thing, these things can be very in the spirit of the season.
I got my IS3A when it first was released, just wanted a tank that was like the IS 3, though the asian server seems to be dying, so not sure i will be able to play for much longer, at least with a good ping.
The thing you have to bear in mind is that the IS-3A wasn't played much before, and now it got buffed to the moon. So quite a few players who had it as a garage queen probably started playing it again. Thus, it's difficult to tell just from the increase in player stats how many new IS-3As were "bought" via lootboxes. Though certainly it was a hell of a lot of them.
Frontlines with IS3A and 432 only. It will be so nice to have so much diversity in the frontline mode. And people don’t buy lootcrates for IS3A necessarily it’s because of the gold credits and premium time you get on a very high discount.
@@Taskuli12 I do not play auto loaders as it isn't my thing. TD's and Russian and Japanese Heavies are my thing. That said, I won an IS3-A and it plays like my IS3 and Defender except that I can come around a corner and drop 3 shots into somebody or take out 3 low health tanks. You can't just yolo around in it just because you have 3 rounds ready to go. You've still got to pick your battles.

I am a guilty scum lord on the US server.....and I would by 15 loot boxes a week till sunday the 13, and, finally got me an IS3a....though, all the other tanks, already had them before they went into the loot boxes, well, save the KV-220-2....
Just to clarify, IS-3A's first shell takes slightly longer to load than a shell of a normal IS-3 due to the fact that that IS-3A can't equip a gun rammer, which the normal IS-3 can.
IS-3A was also on the advent calender for a day. And dont forget the free box everybody got for the santa vs krampus event. I got a defender from my free box. :)
Based on stats on wot-life, tank is at 51.47% which is hardly over performing. There are a looot of other premium vehicles with better WR: Defender, WZ 120 1G FT, T 44 100, LT 432, Patriot, WZ 111, 50tp .... etc etc

I bought 6 boxes because I was playing WoT for 7 years for free, I felt I should pay something from good will. Got M4 Impotent. Whatever. I got E-25, SU-122 44, T-34/85M, Strv 42/57, Pudel, Skoda T40, Type 64, Jap Tiger, Su100Y, Dicker Max for free. Tier VIII premiums are overrated. Tiers V, VI, VII and IX are most fun.
Interestingly a lot of people feel the same way in WoWs since it seems most of the population is at tier 10 (since you can buy a camo for your tier 10 that turns them basically into premiums, so you can fund yourself purely through tier 10s) it means that tier 8s get uptiered a hell of a lot and thus the tier 8 premiums don't sell anywhere near as much as they use to but the lower tiered premiums (especially the tier 7s) seem to sell pretty well. The main difference in WoWs and WoT is that a lower tiered BB can devastate a BB 2 tiers higher if they're careless (I mean shave off half of their health with one salvo) and from tier 8 they have just as good Bow and Stern armour as the tier 10 (32mm from tier 8 to 10 on BBs).
The regular IS-3 played really good. Also I felt bad for the defender as that AMX pusher basically took 900 health of of their Defender, but hey - he has a defender, so my empathy only lasted for a few seconds.
I am on the PS4 version and we have the IS-3A in the version it originally came out. The reload is better than a normal IS-3. The engine leaves a lot to be desired. The turret is better in my opinion. Though unlike on PC we didn't get the matchmaking template system so you could be one of two tiers 8s in a tier 10 game.
I didn't have to suffer trying to gamble with lootboxes thanks to my friend, now roommate, gifting me the IS-3A when it was first released a few years back. It remains my favorite tank and I play it all the time. As far as credits earned it always gets a lot of credits back even if you don't do as well. I average about 150,000 credits per match with the tank without credit earning packages.
Just my 2 cents : QB, you said you did not get a single IS3A. Of course : you already got it! The loot boxes work the same way they did last year : that is, if you roll a premium tier 8 tank you will get one that you do not have already ! If you have them all, then it's random which does not matter since they all reward the same amount of gold. If you already have skorpion and defender, then you are sure to roll IS3A "if" you roll a T8 premium. Btw, E25 is not T8 so you may roll E25 even if you already have it and don't have all the other T8. Also, please do not highlight (twice!) this tank if you don't want to promote it... And finally, not all people wanted the tanks, but mainly the very juicy amount of gold... or those sweet epic skins (I personnaly was after these!) Carry on your nice channel, and enjoy the end year festivities. PS : do more highlights (and renewed reviews) of non premium tanks that are as sweet (even better) than premium ones.

@@zsivanybunozes yes, but then again he had all the T8 already. So the T8 tanks were each time random, and in this case it's like flipping a coin : you might end up always getting Tail. But if you don't have the T8, once you'll get tail, and then the second time you get heads, which is quite different. According to his looting, you get a T8 premium for 70 boxes; if you only miss IS3A (if you already have defender and skorpion), then you get it for roughtly 70 boxes.

You do have a chance of losing your investment. Also, investment implies that you have to take additional actions (such as waiting) in order for the situation to pay off. This is putting actual money in the virtual machine, pulling the handle, and getting back either absolute crap or a jackpot.

You are a bit of a hypocrite QB. On one hand you say how broken the IS 3A is and how WG is making gambling money and on the other 90% of the clip is a fight between IS 3A as top tier against the poor schmucks that don't have an OP tank. What was the reason of the video? Promoting the IS 3A some more? So people would go and spend even more on loot boxes? The fact that you keep saying how bad the situation is isn't improving at all that you keep promoting this IS 3A. The one way to boycott is to never feature on your channel WG bullsh#t. Not the opening of 200 loot boxes and getting millions in credits, gold and tanks, no clips of IS 3A dominating the playfield, etc. Any publicity (be it bad or good) is publicity. And all the pups watching your channel and seeing the performance of that IS 3A will go and try to buy one.
I think he's a bit of a idealist in terms of his audience's intelligence. He wants to believe that most players are not stupid and can weigh pros and cons well enough to make informed decisions, and if that's true, they need as much information as possible. I don't think that "hypocrite" applies to him in this situation or that there's anything nefarious going on when he makes several vids about shitty things, because he expounds on their shittiness. But perhaps there are unintended consequences like the overexposure point you made.
Last weekend I saw quite a few of these IS-3a running around I even took a couple out in the 40 or so games I played but I saw many more get torn to pieces. I have never been offed by one of them. I don't think they're so OP.

Serious question QB: does WG explain the rationale for the original auto-reloaders to have longer reload time the deeper they go into their magazine? and does WG explain the rationale for the IS-3A having the exact opposite mechanism? I'm wondering if there is other reasons cuz if the italian auto-reloading mechanism is the balancing factor for those tanks (meaning drawbacks), then wouldn't the IS-3A mechanism be a buff? Would WG NOT know it? Is it this simple that WG simply wants to make short term hot cash? Thanks QB

I've bought some boxes for the gold to be honest, bought the ISU-122S. Got some new Tier 5 prems, some credits and about 2 weeks of premium time. Got the IS-3A from the free SantaMaus box we've got. :D
Bought a few crates mostly because of the guaranteed more gold for the money. Did quite well actually. For the price of 75,000 gold and 30 million silver from the store across three rolls of the dice so to speak my account grew by an M56 Scorpion, a Rheinmetall Skorpion G, an M4 Improved, an M6A2E1, an MKA, a Turan III prototipus, a 105 leFH18B2, an Object 252U Defender, a KV-220-2, and an IS-3A in the garage as well as 50 million plus in silver and over 100 thousand gold from which the garage got a T26E5 Patriot and a Strv S1. Crates also brought in over six months premium account, about 25 garage slots, nearly countless consumables and finished filling out all collections. The extra silver let me purchase seven new tech tree tanks tier IV thru X. Worth it? Maybe, but too many new vehicles at once to get to know them all.
Bought 12 boxes (3 of each type) and received: IS-3A, M4 Improved, Turan III, 3 skins for IS-7, Grille 15 and T57 Heavy, 3.000 gold, 150.000 credits and 5 premium days. Spent 24,00 Euro, lucky and happy.
I already had the IS3A pre-buff - I loved the tank and got a good win rate in it. NOW it is OP - and it makes me feel bad to play it. Can I get my money back?
I think another big problem with the IS-3A is the inter-clip reload and the aim time; they're both 3 seconds. Those accuracy penalties don't mean anything as long as the player isn't stupid enough to be constantly turning and moving the tank during reloads. What makes this especially infuriating is that the aim time is faster than in the regular IS-3, so this feels deliberate. It feels like the devs made the dispersion values as a fake downside by improving the aim time (unless the IS-3A always had a 3 second aim time).
I bought 25 Christmas loot boxes on NA Server. Came out to 39.99$. Managed to get the Is3A 5 boxes in plus 4 low tier premiums and 12,000 gold, 1.2 million credits, 23 days of premium and got to tier 10 rewards on the christmas event. Seems like a win too me
I've had the IS-3A since it came on sale I guess. I've had 16 games in it. All of them years ago. As far as i remember it used to be a regular IS-3 in all ways but i think the reload was a little bit faster? Which was kind of balanced since you don't get the BL-9 gun. So it used to be just a premium IS-3 but it was crap as a crew trainer since it didn't have the loader.
Honestly im one of the people who contributed to the crates, as I spent 50eur on them, and I'd say I got great value for my money. Got the grille skin (if i bother to grind it), 2 weeks of premium, almost 3 mil credits, quite close to lvl 10 on the event, a few t5 prems, and enough gold to get myself the patriot from the calendar with like 3k gold to spare. Not too bad considering the actual prices for these kinds of things
I've posted this before, but I purchased 144 Loot Boxes and the only high tier premium tank I got was the e25 (which I had sold a long time ago.) It was worth it for me, but not for someone who wanted an IS-3 A.
I bought the IS3-A when it first came out, noob as I am. The shell cost was pretty expensive. The grind got too real to advance past tier 7-8 and I uninstalled. For years. Had to test out this weird beast that no-one talked about and was now THE tank to get. OP yes, but after that first game continuous tier X games kind of takes the edge off.
i got about 5 premiums from them and spent around 30 pounds so for the price of one t8 i got much more . i got 3 tier 5 tanks a tier 6 tnk and a tier 8 tank .also a load of gold a tier 10 special camo and decorations .
I got my IS-3A yesterday. I opened about 40 boxes and got a Defender and an IS-3A. Lucky me. Really nice tank. When I am playing it, I am singing on the music of the Village People and YMCA: I's good to play with the I-S-3-A, it's fun to play with the I-S-3-A :-)
If you willing to pay for gold, the lootboxes have much better value than anything else. I've paid £85 for x75 box. Got 35000 gold, 3,5 mil credits, IS3A, Defender, Turan, E25, KV and some other tanks, Christmas decorations with enough level 5 ornaments to get 4 crew members, various savings etc. The value for money is there and it is worth it. Another matter is if you aim to get some specific tank. That is a gamble, no doubt about it. Overall, I am happy with my purchase, if you are not, you are the only one to blame.
I did not buy loot boxes only for the IS-3A. I bought them because: 1)it's fun to open them. 2)I don't have enough time to get to lvl X on the decorations (because of the end-of-semester exams), but I wanted to have some camos 3) I didn't really buy anything WoT related during the year (except one month of premium) 4)I got lucky last year (1-1 tier 8 in the 2*3 boxes I bought), so I wanted to try out my luck. This time I got 2 tier 8s (IS-3A and Defender), 1-1 from 2*11 boxes :) And the most important thing I think is whether people like it or not, WG is a business, they have to make a profit to keep the game running. I don't want the servers to be switched off soon, thus I take my (small) part to keep them running. You just need to hold on, and take a deep breath before spending a lot of money. No one forces people to spend, I didn't buy a single tank from the Advent Calendar. Even tho some looked pretty nice, I knew I would not use them as much.
I know why it takes longer further into the loading, the loaders energy gets lower as he is loading the shells therefore he gets slower, then next clip he is re energized for the first shell, lol
Keep in mind as well that yes the tank 1/100 chance but... once they already have it it will not count as a second tank received as they just get the gold so assuming the 1/100 chance, 5.5 million boxes in the absolute minimum sold not including repeats of the tank. I think 7 boxes per person is pretty low to be honest. Most members in my clan, myself included have bought the 75 box bundle... at least. So if one person out of ten buys 75 bundle then there you go, and at least in the cases I have seen more people have bought them. As far as business goes, it is great for wargaming. I agree is it not ethical to make you have to gamble for a buffed tank, especially when they are promising to make balances to entire gameplay next year. This does not show their plans. Great video!
LOL, I recieved 3 IS-3a's ,and 3 E25's, 1 IS-7, 1 bat chat,1 skorp g, 1 obj 252u, along with all the common low enders. All of these came in my first 75 new years crates the multiples were spread out among the 3 other styles. Yes I 'bought' into wot's scheme, but iv'e lost more than this in Vegas, so it was fun opening all those crates. Forgot to say this is/was the only time i've bought from wg.
I had the IS3A from back in the day. It was well balanced so much that I didn't play it much due to the current MM. Aced it and left it alone. It didn't need this upgrade at all. I wish they look at the tanks that really need something like the Churchill VII or the AMX M4 45.
Ill fully admit i bought loot boxes. However i bought them for the raw gold they give you per box and for the prem time. I did receive a is3a but i dont ever intend to play it.
5.5 million loot crates sold, each crate cost 1.50 to 3 bucks ( depending on size of crate sold ) in 2 weeks time they made like 8.25 million to 16.5 million off loot gamble crates in Europe, not including from others nations like North America or Asia server
Bought 50 loot boxes and got lucky: IS3, Defender and Skorp. After playing them the past week, I feel the Skorp’s gun competes better in all the tier X MM I seem to always draw. WN 8 is Unicom level in it for me.

Since you can get the same profit (about 110k ish) with 2 games doing 1500 damage each in a mutant. The rest he managed to get from a credit booster and some other event.
Don't forget - For every new IS-3A, there's probably 2 new Defenders, 3 new E25s and maybe 3-4 new LefH.
Oh, and as with many of these kinds of things - it's the fault of both producer & consumer in equal part.
WG did not HAVE to have lootboxes, and players did not HAVE to buy them - both made did what they did out of choice.
Everyone loses at the end of the day, because the game itself has degraded in quality.
It's way more on WG, they introduced this. Can't blame customers with money who spend it for a good reward.

It's a vicious cycle - If people had stood against loot boxes first time around and not bought them, they would not have been there a second time.
So many undesirable practices in this world are just as much the fault of the consumer in this same way - because the consumer willingly chooses to pay the producer money for their actions, which to them is basically saying, "Hey, good job - keep it up and you'll get more."
But of course, people always like to think they are not to blame for anything - and so they prefer to sit back and watch things fall apart all around them, even actively participating in it while deflecting the blame, rather than think for a second that they might actually have to take a sliver of responsibility for something.
Statistics show, that chnace of getting e25 or lefh is inda 1/70. So there is not very much of them coming to the server.
And while lefh is a good vehicle indeed, it requires player great deal of skill to be able to influence the game. Otherwise it its just... meh.
Pretty much same thing with e25. Yes, it used to be totally OP. But more because it was so popular. When there are 5 e25s on a both teams, the game is broken. When there is one, it highly depends on a map and an opposition, if there would be any influence. And again, no, e25 is not a vehicle that substitutes skill. You have to play it well, or you will make 400 dam and 0.7 kills with it.
Concerning lootboxes... meh. People are making their choices themselves. You are getting guaranteed as much gold and prem as you have payed for. You are getting that grinding/farming boost from them. So in my opinion, WG lootboxes this year are fair deal.

There wont be any changes WG are aware of there market they know the player numbers are falling why do you think we keep getting T8 premium tanks every month its to make as much as they can while they can the game is dying I played for about five to six years solid. I stopped then came back a year ago on a new account and yup big changes not in gameplay but in the sheer number of players that have two or more premium T8 tanks. What's worse is before in the old days before patch 9.5 Premium T8s always were on average worse than a standard T8 tank once a player had elited the T8 tank. Simple example the IS6 (old)vs IS3 the IS6 had better slanted front armour but had a weakspot hatch right on centre front which has now been removed it had terrible aim time accuracy and T7 pen which is why it had the pref mm.
The IS3 was faster had better pen if i recall only slightly worse rof its turret was better especially frontally and the is3 frontal armour when angled was pretty bouncy especially against IS6 drivers. Fast forward to today the IS6 has better frontal armour better rof improved pen better prem round no frontal weakspots and its speed was improved too why the fuck would you play the IS3 or the KV4 if the IS6 was an option. That's the problem the T8 premium heavies are flat out better in every regard than it's nation standard T8 heavy. (T34 actually has alpha compared to the T32) the Lowe (better armour aim time and accuracy than the Tiger 2 and VK45A) the French T8 M49 better frontal armour better turret better rof less alpha than the AMX 65t. Oh god and the Italian T8 Prem Medium is so much better than the Panthera its not even funny and the T8 polish heavy the Hussar better ROF better frontal armour better aim time.
Its just ridiculous WG are killing there own game faster by just making these superior in every way T8 prems because they know whats left of the collector base will spend the money to get them.

I suggest a traditional autoloader with the following reload times:
Drum reload: 35sec
Intra-clip reload: 5 seconds
And the gun handling should be a bit worse than a traditional IS-3, which tbh is not competitive when you can just buy a Patriot or Defender

They removed it for a reason, you ppl hate on WG way to much. So many other games have put OP items in loot boxes, and JUST loot boxes, with no other reward. Ben Flap IS-5 was a Clam Wars reward vehicle, so it wasn’t available to the average pub scrub like the IS-3A was.
Honestly, in its original guise the IS-3A was one of the last of the “old-school” premiums i.e. better than a stock tank of the tier, but worse than an elited tank. When you consider that the IS-3 was one of the best tier 8 heavy tanks at the time, the idea of having a slightly worse version that made premium credits and crew training was decently appealing. However, since it predated the stupid template system, most people would rather have had the Pref MM IS-6 (with the full four-man crew) than the full mm IS-3A (which lacked a loader).

I've checked three tier viii games with the most dmg (in a standard battle mode) from patch 9.0 (back in 2014). Those three games had 6 premium tanks in total. Just to illustrate - that means out of 90 tanks, only 6 were premiums - 3 were Super Pershing (which was the first marathon award vehicle given in a patch or two before the release of patch 9.0), two were t34s (also at one point gifted vehicles to all players who actually had that tank in a garage before it was removed from the tech tree and before it became a premium patch 7. something) and 1 was KV5. I've checked first three tier viii games sorted by date from this patch - 42 premium tanks out of 90. I don't think WoT ever made more money, even when the numbers of actual people playing the game are dropping.
I had the IS3A when it was first released, I played it rarely and don’t play it very often now because I still don’t like it . I prefer the Somua SM . Most people will think I’m strange but my play style suits the French tank more
i think the somua is underrated and really fun. it sacrifices the speed the lorr 40t has for a bit more armor and an extra shell. its awesome to wait until the perfect time, then dump 5 rounds into somebody

Well, I bought 100 lootboxes in total. and didnt get the IS3-A. Got plenty of tier 5 premiums from them and 1 Skorpion G.
However, on thing that was positively about these lootboxes for me was that a random player bought me 3 of them after I tried to help him in a game where he flipped over but failed and got him killed. With this kind of thing, these things can be very in the spirit of the season.

The thing you have to bear in mind is that the IS-3A wasn't played much before, and now it got buffed to the moon. So quite a few players who had it as a garage queen probably started playing it again. Thus, it's difficult to tell just from the increase in player stats how many new IS-3As were "bought" via lootboxes. Though certainly it was a hell of a lot of them.

That said, I won an IS3-A and it plays like my IS3 and Defender except that I can come around a corner and drop 3 shots into somebody or take out 3 low health tanks. You can't just yolo around in it just because you have 3 rounds ready to go. You've still got to pick your battles.

I am a guilty scum lord on the US server.....and I would by 15 loot boxes a week till sunday the 13, and, finally got me an IS3a....though, all the other tanks, already had them before they went into the loot boxes, well, save the KV-220-2....
Just to clarify, IS-3A's first shell takes slightly longer to load than a shell of a normal IS-3 due to the fact that that IS-3A can't equip a gun rammer, which the normal IS-3 can.

I got E-25, SU-122 44, T-34/85M, Strv 42/57, Pudel, Skoda T40, Type 64, Jap Tiger, Su100Y, Dicker Max for free. Tier VIII premiums are overrated. Tiers V, VI, VII and IX are most fun.

How did you get e25 for free?
Interestingly a lot of people feel the same way in WoWs since it seems most of the population is at tier 10 (since you can buy a camo for your tier 10 that turns them basically into premiums, so you can fund yourself purely through tier 10s) it means that tier 8s get uptiered a hell of a lot and thus the tier 8 premiums don't sell anywhere near as much as they use to but the lower tiered premiums (especially the tier 7s) seem to sell pretty well.
The main difference in WoWs and WoT is that a lower tiered BB can devastate a BB 2 tiers higher if they're careless (I mean shave off half of their health with one salvo) and from tier 8 they have just as good Bow and Stern armour as the tier 10 (32mm from tier 8 to 10 on BBs).

Also I felt bad for the defender as that AMX pusher basically took 900 health of of their Defender, but hey - he has a defender, so my empathy only lasted for a few seconds.
I am on the PS4 version and we have the IS-3A in the version it originally came out. The reload is better than a normal IS-3. The engine leaves a lot to be desired. The turret is better in my opinion. Though unlike on PC we didn't get the matchmaking template system so you could be one of two tiers 8s in a tier 10 game.
Xbox one or PS4 wot has it perks compared to the PC community trust me

I didn't have to suffer trying to gamble with lootboxes thanks to my friend, now roommate, gifting me the IS-3A when it was first released a few years back. It remains my favorite tank and I play it all the time. As far as credits earned it always gets a lot of credits back even if you don't do as well. I average about 150,000 credits per match with the tank without credit earning packages.
Just my 2 cents : QB, you said you did not get a single IS3A. Of course : you already got it! The loot boxes work the same way they did last year : that is, if you roll a premium tier 8 tank you will get one that you do not have already ! If you have them all, then it's random which does not matter since they all reward the same amount of gold. If you already have skorpion and defender, then you are sure to roll IS3A "if" you roll a T8 premium. Btw, E25 is not T8 so you may roll E25 even if you already have it and don't have all the other T8.
Also, please do not highlight (twice!) this tank if you don't want to promote it...
And finally, not all people wanted the tanks, but mainly the very juicy amount of gold... or those sweet epic skins (I personnaly was after these!)

@@zsivanybunozes yes, but then again he had all the T8 already. So the T8 tanks were each time random, and in this case it's like flipping a coin : you might end up always getting Tail. But if you don't have the T8, once you'll get tail, and then the second time you get heads, which is quite different. According to his looting, you get a T8 premium for 70 boxes; if you only miss IS3A (if you already have defender and skorpion), then you get it for roughtly 70 boxes.

You do have a chance of losing your investment. Also, investment implies that you have to take additional actions (such as waiting) in order for the situation to pay off. This is putting actual money in the virtual machine, pulling the handle, and getting back either absolute crap or a jackpot.
If you are buying boxes with the specific aim of getting an IS-3A (or any other individual item), then it's gambling.

I owned one for years now. Got the 13 pack to try and get french single shot heavy and grille camo. Ended up getting the is3a in second box. Was a nice 12000 gold

You are a bit of a hypocrite QB. On one hand you say how broken the IS 3A is and how WG is making gambling money and on the other 90% of the clip is a fight between IS 3A as top tier against the poor schmucks that don't have an OP tank. What was the reason of the video? Promoting the IS 3A some more? So people would go and spend even more on loot boxes? The fact that you keep saying how bad the situation is isn't improving at all that you keep promoting this IS 3A. The one way to boycott is to never feature on your channel WG bullsh#t. Not the opening of 200 loot boxes and getting millions in credits, gold and tanks, no clips of IS 3A dominating the playfield, etc. Any publicity (be it bad or good) is publicity. And all the pups watching your channel and seeing the performance of that IS 3A will go and try to buy one.
I think he's a bit of a idealist in terms of his audience's intelligence. He wants to believe that most players are not stupid and can weigh pros and cons well enough to make informed decisions, and if that's true, they need as much information as possible. I don't think that "hypocrite" applies to him in this situation or that there's anything nefarious going on when he makes several vids about shitty things, because he expounds on their shittiness. But perhaps there are unintended consequences like the overexposure point you made.
Last weekend I saw quite a few of these IS-3a running around I even took a couple out in the 40 or so games I played but I saw many more get torn to pieces. I have never been offed by one of them. I don't think they're so OP.
Don’t know if you would class it as the original or not when it first came out on the server but i for one got it back then and i wonder how many others got it at that time before it was given this auto-reloaded gun?
Serious question QB: does WG explain the rationale for the original auto-reloaders to have longer reload time the deeper they go into their magazine? and does WG explain the rationale for the IS-3A having the exact opposite mechanism? I'm wondering if there is other reasons cuz if the italian auto-reloading mechanism is the balancing factor for those tanks (meaning drawbacks), then wouldn't the IS-3A mechanism be a buff? Would WG NOT know it? Is it this simple that WG simply wants to make short term hot cash? Thanks QB

If you had bought the IS3-A previously it has the newest mechanic of the auto-loader. No need to get it from the loot boxes.
If i see an enemy get pushed out into the open sometimes i don’t shoot them and go after the tank doing the pushing instead

I'm still surprised by all the people commenting about how loot boxes are such a better value, but don't seem to understand that's because WG priced them in that way rather than just giving a deep discount to gold/credits so you can buy the thing you want...

I've bought some boxes for the gold to be honest, bought the ISU-122S.
Got some new Tier 5 prems, some credits and about 2 weeks of premium time.
Got the IS-3A from the free SantaMaus box we've got. :D

Bought a few crates mostly because of the guaranteed more gold for the money. Did quite well actually. For the price of 75,000 gold and 30 million silver from the store across three rolls of the dice so to speak my account grew by an M56 Scorpion, a Rheinmetall Skorpion G, an M4 Improved, an M6A2E1, an MKA, a Turan III prototipus, a 105 leFH18B2, an Object 252U Defender, a KV-220-2, and an IS-3A in the garage as well as 50 million plus in silver and over 100 thousand gold from which the garage got a T26E5 Patriot and a Strv S1. Crates also brought in over six months premium account, about 25 garage slots, nearly countless consumables and finished filling out all collections. The extra silver let me purchase seven new tech tree tanks tier IV thru X. Worth it? Maybe, but too many new vehicles at once to get to know them all.

Bought 12 boxes (3 of each type) and received: IS-3A, M4 Improved, Turan III, 3 skins for IS-7, Grille 15 and T57 Heavy, 3.000 gold, 150.000 credits and 5 premium days. Spent 24,00 Euro, lucky and happy.
I already had the IS3A pre-buff - I loved the tank and got a good win rate in it.
NOW it is OP - and it makes me feel bad to play it.

I think another big problem with the IS-3A is the inter-clip reload and the aim time; they're both 3 seconds. Those accuracy penalties don't mean anything as long as the player isn't stupid enough to be constantly turning and moving the tank during reloads. What makes this especially infuriating is that the aim time is faster than in the regular IS-3, so this feels deliberate. It feels like the devs made the dispersion values as a fake downside by improving the aim time (unless the IS-3A always had a 3 second aim time).
I bought 25 Christmas loot boxes on NA Server. Came out to 39.99$. Managed to get the Is3A 5 boxes in plus 4 low tier premiums and 12,000 gold, 1.2 million credits, 23 days of premium and got to tier 10 rewards on the christmas event. Seems like a win too me
I've had the IS-3A since it came on sale I guess. I've had 16 games in it. All of them years ago. As far as i remember it used to be a regular IS-3 in all ways but i think the reload was a little bit faster? Which was kind of balanced since you don't get the BL-9 gun. So it used to be just a premium IS-3 but it was crap as a crew trainer since it didn't have the loader.
Honestly im one of the people who contributed to the crates, as I spent 50eur on them, and I'd say I got great value for my money. Got the grille skin (if i bother to grind it), 2 weeks of premium, almost 3 mil credits, quite close to lvl 10 on the event, a few t5 prems, and enough gold to get myself the patriot from the calendar with like 3k gold to spare.
Not too bad considering the actual prices for these kinds of things

I bought 100 boxes. Mostly for the gold, credits, and premium time. Any premium tanks were a bonus. Managed to get 3 Is-3a, 1 defender and an e-25.
Type 59 back in the day, or the current IS-3A? Both silly at their primes. I'd still choose the Type 59 from circa 2011-12
I've posted this before, but I purchased 144 Loot Boxes and the only high tier premium tank I got was the e25 (which I had sold a long time ago.) It was worth it for me, but not for someone who wanted an IS-3 A.
I bought the IS3-A when it first came out, noob as I am. The shell cost was pretty expensive. The grind got too real to advance past tier 7-8 and I uninstalled. For years. Had to test out this weird beast that no-one talked about and was now THE tank to get. OP yes, but after that first game continuous tier X games kind of takes the edge off.
I also did not get a single IS-3A in the boxes I bought, all 11... I already had it in my garage though.
i got about 5 premiums from them and spent around 30 pounds so for the price of one t8 i got much more . i got 3 tier 5 tanks a tier 6 tnk and a tier 8 tank .also a load of gold a tier 10 special camo and decorations .
I got my IS-3A yesterday. I opened about 40 boxes and got a Defender and an IS-3A. Lucky me. Really nice tank. When I am playing it, I am singing on the music of the Village People and YMCA: I's good to play with the I-S-3-A, it's fun to play with the I-S-3-A :-)
If you willing to pay for gold, the lootboxes have much better value than anything else. I've paid £85 for x75 box. Got 35000 gold, 3,5 mil credits, IS3A, Defender, Turan, E25, KV and some other tanks, Christmas decorations with enough level 5 ornaments to get 4 crew members, various savings etc. The value for money is there and it is worth it.
Another matter is if you aim to get some specific tank. That is a gamble, no doubt about it.
Overall, I am happy with my purchase, if you are not, you are the only one to blame.
I did not buy loot boxes only for the IS-3A. I bought them because: 1)it's fun to open them. 2)I don't have enough time to get to lvl X on the decorations (because of the end-of-semester exams), but I wanted to have some camos 3) I didn't really buy anything WoT related during the year (except one month of premium) 4)I got lucky last year (1-1 tier 8 in the 2*3 boxes I bought), so I wanted to try out my luck. This time I got 2 tier 8s (IS-3A and Defender), 1-1 from 2*11 boxes :) And the most important thing I think is whether people like it or not, WG is a business, they have to make a profit to keep the game running. I don't want the servers to be switched off soon, thus I take my (small) part to keep them running. You just need to hold on, and take a deep breath before spending a lot of money. No one forces people to spend, I didn't buy a single tank from the Advent Calendar. Even tho some looked pretty nice, I knew I would not use them as much.
Believe it or not, I bought 3 boxes and what to see in the second box: IS3-A. I was shocked. That's how good luck I did not have in my life.
I know why it takes longer further into the loading, the loaders energy gets lower as he is loading the shells therefore he gets slower, then next clip he is re energized for the first shell, lol
Keep in mind as well that yes the tank 1/100 chance but... once they already have it it will not count as a second tank received as they just get the gold so assuming the 1/100 chance, 5.5 million boxes in the absolute minimum sold not including repeats of the tank. I think 7 boxes per person is pretty low to be honest. Most members in my clan, myself included have bought the 75 box bundle... at least. So if one person out of ten buys 75 bundle then there you go, and at least in the cases I have seen more people have bought them. As far as business goes, it is great for wargaming. I agree is it not ethical to make you have to gamble for a buffed tank, especially when they are promising to make balances to entire gameplay next year. This does not show their plans. Great video!
LOL, I recieved 3 IS-3a's ,and 3 E25's, 1 IS-7, 1 bat chat,1 skorp g, 1 obj 252u, along with all the common low enders. All of these came in my first 75 new years crates the multiples were spread out among the 3 other styles. Yes I 'bought' into wot's scheme, but iv'e lost more than this in Vegas, so it was fun opening all those crates. Forgot to say this is/was the only time i've bought from wg.
I had the IS3A from back in the day. It was well balanced so much that I didn't play it much due to the current MM. Aced it and left it alone. It didn't need this upgrade at all. I wish they look at the tanks that really need something like the Churchill VII or the AMX M4 45.
Ill fully admit i bought loot boxes. However i bought them for the raw gold they give you per box and for the prem time. I did receive a is3a but i dont ever intend to play it.
5.5 million loot crates sold, each crate cost 1.50 to 3 bucks ( depending on size of crate sold ) in 2 weeks time they made like 8.25 million to 16.5 million off loot gamble crates in Europe, not including from others nations like North America or Asia server
Bought 50 loot boxes and got lucky: IS3, Defender and Skorp. After playing them the past week, I feel the Skorp’s gun competes better in all the tier X MM I seem to always draw. WN 8 is Unicom level in it for me.
