Thanks for another great video Brian. It most certainly was interesting!!!!! Wow and wow!!!!! Thought we had one of these several months ago????? Repeat????? These can be very expensive, yes!!!!! Hang in there ! All for now Brian The Iowa farm boy. Steve. 😊👍👋🙏🇺🇸
It happens. Dad took out a power pole 4-5 years ago, best I recall. Wasn't as expensive as we thought. We've also had an incident with the planter marker arm pulling the neutral conductor off a pole, when it was being raised at the same time the tractor and planter were making a turn at the end of the field. That didn't cost anything, but some embarrassment.
Brian, I'll see your pole and raise you a traffic light in New Jersey. Made a tight turn at night a few years ago and thought I was looking at the traffic light pole in the right mirror when I was actually looking at a sign pole. I took down the traffic light pole and laid the arm with the lights on it across the trailer.
Important thing is at least no one got hurt, no major damage to the equipment so farming can continue. Good thing taking the precaution since it was live, shows how important to take precautions, just cause nothing looks scary doesn't mean it isn't dangerous!
Some inventive content Brian. The lengths tubers go to...... 😂😂 A very good "Public Information Program". Sounds like some of their equipment might be faulty. Fuse not disconnecting fully.
The fuse disconnects the circuit, but until the fuse is removed, you can't consider the line to be disconnected. That's what i guess. My job is to switch off and on high voltage on a daily base. In Germany the norm says "there has to be a visible disconnection".
I know of person who hit a power pole The road was built up either side. He got out went up to the road. Car stopped realised he didn’t have a wallet and said I’ll just go back and get it. That’s when he was electrocuted said true story is about to get married the following week sitting in the tractor was a good move.
I’ve done the same thing, with a combine one time, I was cutting wheat and I was on a head row and I was cutting against a power line and the grain tank caught just enough of the guide wire, and it brought the whole light pole down, and it started a fire and burned 5 acres of wheat
Come on Brian! Only one pole? You can do better than that! I hung one when I was younger on stripper basket, not the guide wire, the actual overhead line,,, heard a bang, looked out to see the poles falling over, yes more then one. And it arched right as the wire snapped! Started the cotton in the basket on fire, which if you didn’t know cotton being fanned by a big blower will make it go up in flame fairly quick. It had about half a basket but wasn’t much left by the time I dumped it.
yep you are supposed to hop. full body break contact, full body make contact. if you walk or run you get step voltage. you make a pathway for current and will get flow across your body, which is real bad. good psa
Friend of mine got turned in front of, she swerved and lost control of her 2 year old Jeep Cherokee and took out a pole. Cost her insurance 4k and totaled her Jeep. I asked her if she learned anything, she said "Next time I won't swerve and I'll hit the pr*ck" I told her with all the safety equipment vehicles have, she put herself in more jeopardy then t-bone the car. Btw it was a country road and they had a stop sign, she didn't and it's only 35 though there. Just fast enough to chop off a pole after getting spun around backwards from swerving.
Hey Brian, with the drainage plow equipment you already own, why don't you consider to install an underground pipe to re route the electrical wire under your field and get rid of the over head wires in the field. (same idea as trenching in the electric line that you did at your house, except instead of trenching in the line, just the tile plow to bury a pipe below ground across the field. I had a similar situation and the electric company agreed that if I used their specified pipe that they would come after I installed it and run the new power cable through the pipe. Result is no more overhead lines and no obstacles for life in the field. (Just a suggestion).
My guess is 2500-3k. Fuse had blown but the cutout door was hung up. Most likely line was not hot at that point however those older doors have been known to track. I applaud you for staying put. Smart move.
Safety wise for this instance you would be fine, electricity goes to ground by the path of least resistance you have a big metal roller it would go to ground through it and not through you. When you should leap double footed is when the tractor is electrified say via the cab or cb antenna touching a low wire and you don't have an implement in the ground to create that pathway because tractors are on rubber tires (or tracks) if you step 1 footed and have one foot on the machine and one on the ground your boots are thinner than the tires and you become the path of least resistance. That said, its generally better to err on the side of safety if you are in any doubt
I accidently tapped a power pole while driving a crawler tractor pulling a chisel plow when I was much younger. The lines flexed a lot, touching each other, arcing between lines, then everything finally settled down. So, I went back to plowing, giving the other poles a wide birth.
Pops was poking at you and not to upset because he knew he wasn’t the one that’ll be paying for it🤣😂🤣it is what it is Brian, no one hurt and no equipment damage, take care Brown family 🇺🇸💪🏻🇺🇸
I clipped a guy wire on a three phase line with a mower conditioner. Luckily it didn’t break, but I watched the power lines buck all the way down for about a mile away from me and then it turned around and came back the whole mile and scared the crap out of me a second time. I knew I was dead……but all was fine……
I found out that a sprayer boom doesn’t like guide wires also some how I broke the guide wire and the poll didn’t break but there was no power there anymore made me sick that I did that just got the sprayer last fall
@@erickamekonapeper4007 Brian did a livestream whilst he was waiting in his cab for the services to arrive. I was lucky to catch it because I live in the UK and it was during the night for us. Knowing Brian he probably made a short out of it too.
My thing is why would they put a pole in a crop field 😂 it’s the power companies fault! Jk jk everyone just being sarcastic 😅 luckily nothing major happened and everyone is okay. Also surprised the pole snapped like it did.
I thought you were supposed to do the Biden shuffle away from the equipment to avoid an arc picking up your feet. Talked about that in an MSHA refresher a too long ago. I do remember the jump as far as you can and land on both feet part.
Your dad was priceless when he said “Well look what brain did today”. lol
Such a dad comment! Lol
Brian, Gave you 1 job to do, Priceless.😆😅😍
No one was hurt! TYJ. Just your pride, and it will heal!

Yeah sometimes it's 2 or 3 grand and sometimes you never hear from them. We have took out at least 5.
Just glad everyone is safe. Good stuff

Sh!t happens! Glad no one was injured or major damage, except the pocket book.
Since the utility pole was old, you might be able to get them to split the cost of the replacement. 🤷🏻♂️

Such excitement you do not need, I tell ya!
You need to see if they have an easement for that line to be there in the first place!
where I live they put them in the ground 20 years ago (Bornholm/Denmark)
so there must be a reason why it has not been done with you in the US
so what was the final tally
Dads are priceless😂😂😂
Read that Ohio ag is not going to be an Agco dealer. Is this true and how will it affect you guys?
Good video.
On a Degleman roller that doesn't happen. Their transport tires fold back in towards the roller.
The wheels stick straight up but I had bumped the lift remote and the transport wheel had went down slightly
In our area it’s about 15g the pole alone is 10g

I heard Ohio ag is not going too sell agco after this year I was wondering if they are still going too have service for you?
Land on both feet then shuffle your feet away due to the step gradient voltage that can be present
I can’t believe that you all don’t smash that like button! ❤🎉😂😅😊
Boom!
Yeah
One of those things you don't get a second chance if it doesn't go right.
Sometimes they charge you triple and sometimes you never hear from them.
It's a shame that the power company don't bury the lines on farm grounds.
Young farmers cant drive a tractor . All auto steer !! Lol
The only pole in the field & you gotta bring it down...??? Kids in tractors too busy making RUclips videos...!?! 🤣🤣🤣
This field actually had 6 in it lol

Sorry, You should be careful always.
whooops
You need to pay attention. Be careful
They were $600 in 1998. Bet they are a little bit higher now.
I took a power pole yrs ago cost me $25k
You get chargerged for current replacement rate. I got one not long ago it was 28k.
I found out that a sprayer boom doesn’t like guide wires also some how I broke the guide wire and the poll didn’t break but there was no power there anymore made me sick that I did that just got the sprayer last fall
Have you got the bill on that? It’s been 5-6 weeks since you played lineman…
4 weeks. I haven’t
I caught a steel hydro structure tower thing that was 40k mistake the i think it’s just gunna sneak by thinking didn’t pan out for me that day
Pulling a fuse to a line doesn't cost anything
Don’t give up on that roller idea…come harvest time, you’ll be glad you didn’t.
Were you listing to the Wichita Lineman song on the radio?
Around here that pole is 7 grand, plus wire and labor, probably cost you 10-12.
great video
Bob said look what Brian did I’m sure he won’t forget that and you’ll get heck for a long time
Evening
Mornin’
Opps😂😂
Somebody got into the rhubarb!
i could swear you also knocked down a power pole in spring of fall last year also. Habit
Same pole one was a live stream
Your cost per acre might be a little higher on that field…😅
Brian, shit happens. Remind them of the lost crop when they put those mats down through your fields a while back.
Broke a furrow-filler off our disc on a damn pole. Fortunately, didn't take the pole down.
OOOooops
Do you get paid from the power company for allowing poles in your fields?
keep on goin😂
This happened awhile ago didn't it? I remember seeing the video maybe 🤔 it was a short?❤️🙂🖖❣️🇺🇲
Live stream actually.
@@adrianchetwynd1334 that's right 👍 that's what I saw I remember now I rarely get to see them live I got lucky that day. Thanks 👍

Oops
Prob goin to cost you around 5 grand I’d say
You should talk to them about burying the lines so you don't have to worry about it anymore
Just had to get as close to the pole as possible, couldn"t let alittle patch pass, dumb a- -. Guess you learned.
You sir are an ass
My thing is why would they put a pole in a crop field 😂 it’s the power companies fault! Jk jk everyone just being sarcastic 😅 luckily nothing major happened and everyone is okay. Also surprised the pole snapped like it did.
did a rut rough raggy
Didnt that happen a while ago toooo? 😅
This was that time
This was that time
Sorry pops !! You try to raise them right and they just continue to disappoint!!
Can't have anything nice when you have kids !!!
mine cast me $800 a few years ago
$10,000
You need to bury the line or build a perimeter fence to protect the pole
Or just pay better attention. Accidents happen.
Yikes! Second time in a short period. You never said what happened the last time you did it.
This was the only time I have done it
@@BriansFarmingVideos broken the pole but clipped the guide wire.
This is the one that led to the livestream a month ago.

Again?
This is the only time i have hit one.
Didn't you do this a month ago?
Did you think the videos were daily?
no, but I didnt think he would repeat it
@@Homesteader500 I was thinking the same way would he replay. I could be wrong.
Yea, I was thinking it happened on a livestream that was also cut into a video.
@@Homesteader500 it's wasn't a video but a Livestream/chat where he was asking what to do.
Canadian farmers do it way better lol 😂 go big or go home
You are looking at 10 to 20 thousand. You are the second one this year. A live wire on the ground is a KILLER.
Thank Brian if you lost power nearby lol..
This is the same one that showed up a month ago. He did an impromptu livestream waiting for the utility company when he knocked it down.
They only go 30 feet. No you put your feet together and walk they make shoes for it. You actually slide your feet together.
