If only I could actually play stuff on it though. For a brief time I could ask Alexa to play music and would stream it through my 8500. Yet, after an update, now Alexa just says playback error. I have done a full factory reset on the 8500. Deleted and re-installed HEOS. Removed all Alexa skills and reloaded. Yet, nothing will fix it. Occasionally it does actually work. Maybe once in 30 - 50 attempts. Before the 8500 updated itself though, Alexa worked fine. It would even turn the amp on if needed. Now none of that happens. Just an error message in the HEOS app and on the TV screen from the 8500. If I use HEOS to select a song from Amazon music it works fine. Yet if I ask Alexa to play something, and the 8500 is set as the speaker, I get an error. If I don't set the 8500 as the speaker, it plays fine. I have emailed support. No response. I have phoned support. Apart from being told I am doing things wrong, and it is Alexa and I should talk to Amazon, really didn't make any progress. Yet, it worked before the update, and now doesn't.

Did you actually include a functional HDMI 2.1 chip this time? Have you actually tested that 4K@120Hz HDR VRR works before release, this time?

From what I read they fixed it in this version. They are also selling an HDMI board for upgrading the non A model.

Managing your after-sales service correctly is even better in advertising. Unfortunately this is not the case.... Amplifier broke down a few weeks after the end of the warranty and still waiting for an answer from DENON's after sales service..... I begin to believe that the DENON quality is not what it was!
Be CAREFUL the quality denon is not what it was but the price is always there !!!!

When can I upgrade my AVR X8500H?

Why? It has eARC. If you have a TV that supports 8K or 120fps, you don't need the amp to have it also. Use the TV inputs if you have more than one device that requires HDMI 2.1. The upgrade only has 1 HDMI 2.1 port anyway. So you can do more with the hub in the TV, and it doesn't cost anything extra.
