I Just Can't Shake The Dirt Outta My Boots

I grew up in a town of 500 people. Ok well to be more specific I grew up 7 miles OUT of a town that has 500 people. The farm was our playground and I remember my mom telling me that I could ride my bike for as long as I could see. I didn't realize how cool and special that was until many years later. I've tried (believe me I was New York bound) to shake the dirt from my boots and I just can't seem to get it out.
I don't live on the farm anymore so life looks a lot differently than it did growing up. Farm life is not easy and there are a lot of sacrifices made but man it's an incredible way to be raised. I remember praying that I could help instill values in my kids that I learned growing up on a farm. I didn't realize it until about a year after I had launched The Haircut Box that this business was an answer to my prayers.
Running a business while juggling life has been the hardest thing I've ever done and I'm grateful that I have the skills and mental toughness that growing up on a farm taught me and I'm equally as grateful to now have an opportunity with my business to teach the kids some of the same values I learned growing up working on the farm.
It looks very different and that's ok. The one thing I need to keep reminding myself and maybe you need this reminder also is that some of my most fondest memories were when we had to do hard things. In the moment I'm sure I hated it but I'll forever remember and be grateful for those times. We can do hard things and so can our kids.
