Queen E is probably a beginner and they are in the higher part of a trumpets natural range, i remember when i first started a high C was a "high" note now a "high" note is a double C (in orchestral terms trumpet players just call it a C and high C"
Im just a Junio in highschool and have managed to my range up to an E above super C. Just do a lot of lip slurs and beleive in yourself and you will get the notes eventually
Keep on doing your thing. Something to work toward. When you are doing a solo cover, try not to play it as a technically correct trumpet player. Play it as a vocalist through your trumpet. Throw out the rules and paint a picture with sound. The results will blow your mind. As a young player, your are taught musical mathematics and left brain playing. Don't be afraid of the right side taking control of the picture.
Curt Hoagland its better to him to play as a pro, for people who are learning to see the right way to play. Sorry if i didnt write well, Im from Brazil.
maybe so potatonation21 but it depends what sound you want/need, trumpet cornet and flugelhorn are 3 similar but yet different sounds.. on the same type instrument...
the problem with this is that i use different mouthpieces for different songs in band class i use my tighter mouthpiece for ‘to conquer the kraken’ and ‘bang zoom!!’ but for the rest i use a more loose mouthpiece
Man, I just feel like I can't behind this cover. Obviously, the tone of his horn is great, and his attacks are really precise. He's clearly very skilled at the trumpet, and has been classically trained - and I say classically trained for a reason. I understand this probably isn't a very popular opinion, but I think that covers such as these where the main chorus is translated directly into sheet music is a very flat medium, and that there could be a lot more energy and "musicality" added to it. Sort of like eating boiled chicken breast. It really could be great, but it just needs some seasoning. At around the three minute mark is where it becomes clear for me that I'm bored. There are great opportunities to listen to something great - an expression of who TMO is behind the horn - without just hearing some notes in accurate patterns. If I wanted to listen to regular cover of the notes, I would use software to do that - I want to hear the TMO cover of the song. A good example of where something could be added is at bars 43-44 (around 1:55). In the original song, during the eight notes, the backing track stops in time with the beats, in order to emphasize those notes and add colour. However, in this cover, the same drum beat that plays nonstop just plays straight through, and the same style gets played through the horn. If, for example, a little growl was added into those eighth notes, then it would be some pepper for my otherwise bland boiled chicken. The playing isn't perfect either. For example, the rhythm in bar 70 (around 3:04) is different than what is played (slurs are ignored). This nitpick is so minor, though, that it really doesn't detract from the song in any meaningful way. At the end of the day, what it comes down to is that pop songs like this need something to get them going, else they're just bland. This would normally come from the singer and the lyrics - but when these are both replaced with a trumpet, the musical equivalents need to also be substituted. This is different from classical music. Good classical music has so much flavour and complexity that the point is to emulate the feelings of the composer (or the vision of the conductor, in some cases) in order to bring to life a piece of music. TMO's style would work very well for an ensemble, but I find it lacking in this (and many of his other) cover(s). In any case. I hope everyone who made it this far through this comment has a great day and doesn't take any of what I said too harshly. When it comes down to it, I'm just one punk on the internet.
All trumpet players like this comment for no apparent reason
EDIT:A few months later...ME:Woah so many likes...thx guys,I hope ur having a great day 😁

It isn't really that fast. Just got to actually practice it. Ya know.

Yeah, makes sense. Now to teach the beginners a double D above the staff.
Im just a Junio in highschool and have managed to my range up to an E above super C. Just do a lot of lip slurs and beleive in yourself and you will get the notes eventually

Curt Hoagland Generally if you play a Cornet for a solo it will sound better. They are pretty similar but they are different.
Very good job
Curt Hoagland its better to him to play as a pro, for people who are learning to see the right way to play.
