Eastern Slavonia - Tension Rises

As elections take place in Croatia, with Croat president Franjo
Tudjman among the first of nearly four million Croatians to vote
in Sunday's (29/10) legislative elections, tension is rising in
Eastern Slavonia. The only Croat territory in Serb hands,
Croatian Serbs say they feel betrayed and that they don't want to
return to Croat rule. On the streets of Vukovar, a symbol of
destruction in the war in former Yugoslavia where ethnic Serbs
resisted for three and a half years against becoming part of
Croatia, people feel bitter and betrayed.

Vox pop young man #1 saying in English: "There are no free and
democratic elections in Croatia, the opposition doesn't have any
influence in the political life. You know how many Serbs were
expelled from there -- I pray to God this will never be part of
Croatia, we tried living with them once and couldn't. I hope we
will stay autonomous with no connections with them at all."
Vox pop older man, in English:" HDZ party will win, it's the most
important."
Vox pop peasant on the market sighing and saying in Serbian: "It
will be difficult, there will be bitter fighting here."
Vox pop young man #2 in English: "I don't think about anything as
I'm sure that Franjo Tudjman will win. What will happen in Eastern
Slavonia is a question for international organizations, it isn't a
question for Serbs and Croats."
Vox pop older man, again, in English: "Upper (political) levels
will decide what will happen to us."

Croats have marvelous songs and welcomes to their Serb neighbors with whom they live ant same territories as Bosnia, Dalmatia, Croatia! Examples: "Mi Hrvati ne pijemo vina, mi pijemo krvi od Srbina!" = "We Croats, do not drink wine, we drink blood of Serbs" and there is whole literature of such Croats greetings of Serbs.

A najpoznatija je ona "hrvatska" pjesma: " druže Slobo šalji nam salate bit će mesa klat ćemo Hrvate" ! Mamicu ti jebem za nju nisi čuo garant???
