I understand that people like shipping dazai and chuya but I feel like it's a little toxic considering both their past and shipping them is kind of a slap to their faces-

But in my opinion, they are mafia kids/mass murderers so toxicity will always be there, but still this ship makes more sense to me than any other ship with someone as manipulative as Dazai (who would be toxic in literally any relationship) because it is the most equal relationship (with no problematic power dynamics) for either of them at least, and the light novels of their past do show that they do secretly care about each other and have that unconditional trust from the start cause soulmate bond
Like whether it's platonic or romantic I think their bond is really deep/special if unconventional
@@sendosenpai1 again I sincerely respect your opinions, and I actually agree with you on dazai, he is going to be very manipulative as that's what es known to do mostly ig, and I usually see this type of relationship around in my areas but none of the people happen to be from the LGBTQ+ respectively. (I haven't quite finished the series, I am half way through season 3 and watching the movies so who knows maybe my opinion will differ)
It is kinda toxic, but we don't care we still ship it.
Honestly when shipping in any fandom you kinda just have to ignore the toxicity of things. I totally respect this opinion, bc really if I stopped to look at most ships, canon or not, I would be horrified at how toxic they were. I feel like with all the emotions and fights in a story it's impossible for a ship not to be toxic or abusive in some way, no matter how hard the author/mangaka/director/whoever tries to make it loving. So at this point, I only ship Soukoku as fanon, if that makes sense. I don't ship the actual characters but when you HC them enough or just read too much fanfiction it becomes easy to forget that the canon characters are really quite toxic. Idk why I'm ranting you just brought up a great point and I have nobody else to talk to on the matter lol
