agreed. A perfect album and a perfect work of art. Completely original, completely it's own thing and completely amazing. It's sad that it never got the attention it deserved. The people who knew though...they knew. FWIW.
Never saw Arthur live to my shame, but first discovered Forever Changes at 17 (over 30 years ago) and have been totally in love with the music since. Arthur should be as widely known as bands like The Beatles imho. A genius. R.I.P Mr Lee.
So true. Another truism is that as long as music goes on and Rolling Stone Ragazine is allowed to exist, this album will fall out of the top 500, then the top 10,000. And if you think this is funny, paint me black, count me out.
WOW! I was one of the photographers standing in front of the band. I have a amazing photo of Arthur backstage. No words how great this show was! Ps. Love played again the next year. One of my photos was used at his memorial service. We miss you you so much Arthur! R.I.P.
Absolutely loved this album when it came out. All the unusual chord changes and melody lines - then of course the lyrics of all the songs are out of the box. This song is mindful of McMurphy in Cuckoo's Nest - but this was earlier! Thanks for putting this out for us to remember - I'm 75 and still love it like yesterday.

The BEST LIVE PERFORMANCE OF A TRACK I'VE EVER HEARD IN MORE THAN 50YRS OF LISTENING.... ABSOLUTELY STUNNING RENDITION OF "The Red Telephone " from Arthur and his band 50YRS later... completely mesmirizing.. belatted of course now, but thank you Arthur for this. 🎶(this is the 1st time I've seen this.. Lots of Super groups , Lots of Iconic Legends in RocknRoll . Some like the Rolling Stones were prolific . Some like Arthur Lee and Love were not but Arthur Lee and Love also made the Greatest Album ever , Forever Changes !
I saw Love many times in the 60's. Amazingly, they sounded just like their first 2 albums. I wish that I could have seen them perform songs from Forever Changes. It's one of the greatest albums recorded, and they performed with the orchestra sounding like the album.
My favorite Love song has changed 4 times. Now it's You Set the Scene. I also think Neil Young was going to produce this but wanted to go solo after he quite Buffalo Springfield. He did help with the arrangement of The Daily Planet.
Tomorrow night. BBC4 will be playing this whole set. They picked the favorite sets played by bands. In the 50 year history of Glastonbury. This weekend was going to be the 50th!
A lot of the top groups were keeping their eye on Arthur, cause they all knew that he was amazing. Him and his group were the 'first of' to do so many things. They never wanted to be famous or tour, really, their love of music astonishing with Arthur at the end of his career still giving it his all
Even the band, The Doors with Jim Morrison were influenced by Arthur Lee & Love in LA in the late 1960s. Why it's taken so long for that unique album, Forever Changes to be recognised as great along with Astral Weeks & St Pepper is baffling.
Arthur was losing his voice and the band was not his original, but you have to give the man the credit for his songs, the aura and the sheer guts at his age.
“Losing his voice”? Huh? And “the band was not his original”. What in the world are you taking about? He found his voice here, and this band (and orchestra) of top players are better than the original, from decades ago. This live performance of Forever Changes is actually better than the studio album.
Forever Changes was released in 1967 - the Summer of Love. But Love were the antithesis of the hippy movement. It is rumoured that people that knew them at time thought they should have been called Hate. This song is dark, sinister, slightly claustrophobic and fucking magnificent. 'Sitting on a hillside, watching all the people die.'
I saw Love Band with Jonny Echoles in Southampton England in July 24 If you can see them Go They are brilliant Musically better if possible Keep the faith Enjoy life It is fleeting
@@clarkoption1941 yes when he sings F#7 when he is in C. Also changing between Am with A. Also when he goes whole step down to Bb when the bridge starts. Man these guys were on top of their game.
Arthur Lee was brilliant. He never lost it. This song is about The Beatles and in particular the “Paul Is Dead” psyop. Check out the lyrics and research Phil Ackril, Bill Shepherd and Mike Williams here on RUclips to find out what Arthur Lee knew all those years ago.
Not a Musician, Just have great taste, If not so, I would change it.... I have the drummers book re the band and he used that HATE line. Why can't ROCKERS STAY ALIVE??? McLean, Massive heartattack, cvlean and together.
Very impressed by the backing musicians.
It’s difficult to stop playing this incredible music. Forever Changes is an unmatched masterpiece.
For me, the greatest set, by any Artiste, ever, at Glastonbury. Peace.
Forever Changes is an album unlike any other. A mysterious masterwork that seems to become more deeper as time passes.
Each time I listen is like the first. Gripped from the start !
Even better it seems to become deeper with time and each listen.

MASTERPIECE.
I thought it was a greatest hits album.
Nope. Just a
MASTERPIECE.
Brilliant, just brilliant.
The added edge in his voice from age and experience is magnificent
Forever Changes: 40 years ahead of its time…
Only 40 ? If it were to be released tomorrow it would still be ahead of its time .
another highlight from one of the best records ever made. every song on it is a hit

A master at work. Off Forever Changes possibly the best album ever in my opinion
"... you or me." It's 2023 and I'm 76 years of age and I'm hearing his prophesy. The end of free speech and the lock down are just around the corner.
Caution! Genius at work. The greatest thing about Arthur, was that his live performances are nearly perfect to studio
Yes yes, I just love ❤ that.
