Just got mine yesterday and I love this thing already, it's so amazing. Def feels like an amazing beginner bike, I got the 2023 model new, and I can't get over how beautiful it looks.
I have this Bike, as a second/third Bike. This Bike is awesome. I use it around the City. I did Improve its Torque and handling vs the Stock version, by going -1 front sprocket (Vortex Sprocket and Chain Kit) also removing some weight off of it. Removed (Stock Exhaust, Back Fender, stock mirrors etc) Put on some Pirelli Rosso Tires. It really changed a lot. Handles way better and faster off the line. Driving around the city unless you want to get arrested, I don't attempt to go over 100MPH
I’m looking into buying one of these as a daily commute. It’s nice to get an honest opinion on this bike, most channels say they are doing a review of this bike but then all they do is talk about what they need to change on the bike, I mean just review the bike, I don’t a comparison, I’ve I was looking for a bigger bike then I would, I just want an opinion on the bike. I use to ride and I’m just getting back into riding again, this is one of the bikes I’m thinking about getting. I just want a great bike and not one that goes 190!
Hey man glad ya liked it & yeah absolutely a wonderful bike, and as a daily commuter, it nails it there! But I agree most bike review videos are pretty annoying haha
Daily commuter is the true calling of this bike despite the sporty looks. Some might suggest the cb500x but I like a little forward lean personally. (And the looks of the CBR by a country mile.) Put a top case on mine and do most errands/commuting on it as long as its not raining. 8000 mile oil change interval, 16000 mile valve check, legit 60mpg average, Honda reliability in addition to the under-stressed nature of it's low compression motor. Bikes don't get much easier to own and run.
Another thought. Any bike bigger/faster than this is going to cost more in a dozen different ways without offering much more functionality in the role of a commuter. Some say the glass is half full, some say it is half empty, the engineer says, "The glass is twice as big as it needs to be." And that's what this bike is - the exact right amount of bike for the job of transportation. (unless you never ride freeway, then you could go even smaller)
Seen 115mph on my 2016 also (closed course; professional rider) Speedo is just over 4% optimistic so we are probably looking at real world 110. Funnily this is just about exactly the same as my ninja 300 was capable of - 300 had a full system though. I think the larger frontal area of the 500 plays in heavily as well. Love mine, great daily commuter/light sport tourer.
Nice video man, the cbr500r is a beauty, I've got a red one of my own I couldn't help but see you're wearing just a T-shirt, here in Australia we live by all the gear all the time, save your skin bro and go buy yourself a jacket to protect your skin ✌️ Ride safe man
Excellent for everyday use..250 struggle to go over 90 .600 needs constant high revving.litre bike got too much horse for the job at hand except on track.
Yeah man, I'll try to put that one together for ya! And yeah I have a Coffman's Shorty exhaust on it, with the baffle out & oh wow awesome! Yeah the CBR500 is awesome man, ride safe and I'll try to get that video together for ya
What are the legal speed's in your state on the freeways?. Here in Australia it's 100-110km/h ....60 - 65 miles an hour. As long as the bike can comfortably do about 70mph its tottaly fine for Australian highways unless someone wants to race
@@IamLation thanks for replying......in every highway run video I see from people in the states they talk about a bikes ability to do anywhere from 80-120mph.....I take it their are plenty who speed in the USA??
The weight was my issue with the Ninja 400. But it’s all personal preference, if you like being blown into oncoming traffic lanes at the slightest gust of wind, the bike is perfect for ya! Na I’m kidding, not really, maybe, but yeah - just gotta identify what is important for you and focus on that to make the decision. It’s tough!
Man ,I know exactly how you feel. I was on a motorway,in Germany, doing 136mph round a corner and I thought I'd really like to be doing a little more but that was the bike I was on going flat out , so you don't owe that bike anything ,sell it and get the performance you need, coz that's what I did. But there are plenty 600cc inline 4's with the performance you want, and something like a BMW F800 ST (cheap bike, shop around) comes with hard luggage and more touring sport ergomics. Actually it has adjustable seat, pegs and handlebar so you can suss your own preference.😂😂👍
How big are you? I'm learning now that I'm gonna be limited with getting my first bike because I'm 6'2 260 pounds and now I'm more worried about what bike I get
Yeah I’m probably like 5’10 and 150, so that’s a good point. I mean I ride with my wife oftentimes and it’s not terrible, I can still zip around pretty good but there is certainly a noticeable difference
@Lation you think adjusting the suspension would help with that a lot? I mainly don't want to stress the bike out when I'm going on long rides or my 30 minute ride to work
I’m sure that would help, I don’t know enough about the suspension to give sound advice here - all I can give is just my experience riding with a passenger which does impact the performances and considering it’s a heavy bike already, it’s no help. Hahaha
Hey man, im 6’1” was 250 at my heaviest and the bike works great for me, still had plenty of power. The frame is pretty big so you wont feel too big for the bike. The ONLY part of the bike that feels “small” is the inseam a bit, but that just means that you can flat foot both feet. I would not shy away from getting this bike at your size, you will have no issues. Unlike a ninja which would feel extremely small
What i'm worried about with getting a motorcycle is getting a speeding ticket. Do motorcycles get a special exception when it comes to speeding past the speed limit?
Don’t know about in the US but in the UK doesn’t matter what vehicle you’re in speeding is speeding😂 But being 100% honest bikes are just beyond easy to speed on. Soon as you get on a highway even on a 500cc bike you can 100mph and be like “oh shit already?”
I think you should just buy an old ZX6R around $1600-2000 as a second bike. Hell , even get an old '98 ZX9R as cheap as possible. Or just Test Ride bigger bikes , tell the dealership you're thinking of upgrading an you'd like to Test Ride their 2021 Ducati Panigale V4S ! Try a CBR400RR it's a different bike altogether. I would chose an inline 4 engine before anything but I'm not adversed to Twins, I've owned Kawa's ER5, Aprilia's SL750 but like you they lacked IS Speed. Have a look at CBR650 it might just have enough performance for you. Best of Luck, thanks for posting.

Top speed reached in the video was 111MPH which can be seen at 1:27 - but you say "great work, honda boy.." like I'm the one to blame the bike doesn't go faster?? 😂 it's a top speed video of a CBR500.. what were you hoping for.. 200MPH? l0l
