There’s so much going on.. the new layout is much easier + quicker to get around once you know where to look.. 👍 The layer velocities - sample delay trick is pretty cool.. The addition of the delay + reverb sends in the controller section will come in handy.. Thanks for these tutorials.. always clear + concise.. look forward to more tips..
Melodic Mapping very handy can see this comes in the MPC style. Would love to see Chord progression come to this aswell or Chameleon 2 if that was to hit again following on from MPC style functionality!

Insane plugins and DS2 is a beast like the rest of them! How could one man pull off 50+ top shelf plugins? No idea. That said, I’m having issue hearing multi-layers: I import hat1 to pad1 layer1, then hat2 to pad1 layer2. I see both wavs in the window. Settings are all default. Can only hear layer1 hat1. 🤷🏻♂️ Also, I used to be able to import a long wav of drum hits to pad1, slice them to pads (let’s say 32) across A/B, then import on C , pad1, a new long wav of hits, and slice (it would ask where to - I would select C) and it would spread them across C/D. But recently, it doesn’t prompt where to slice second wav and they end up overwriting those on A/B. Thoughts? Thanks!!
Oh, and I could only get layer2 to display a wav if I import (ex. IPhone File app). If I choose Assign from Kit (reference) it doesn’t prompt to choose layer and just overwrites layer1 with the second wav
Same behavior in standalone. Also, on Layer Tuning page the Preview button plays the wav on later2. So it’s just a matter of how to get them playing together 🤔

Not without using the interface as if you take a look at the presets these are actual drumkits, so you can change kit using the presets, but you cannot remotely change the song. This is because a lot of people use an external sequencer instead of my built in pattern editor.
Yes, it should be working fine, just tested it to be sure. The Backup option is available via the main menu (nect to the power button). Select Backup and then Backup Current Kit, then brose for a folder to save and press the 'Create Document' icon.

@@raidmarji You can't directly access the files area within the DigiStix 2 application. You can as you have seen backup your kit (which includes the samples) as a .dkit file and then restore that later. Where is it stored depends on the location you choose as part of the backup procedure.

Yes, this is only intended to be used with finished drum kits of course. It was just a neat way to create songs with drum samples from multiple sources.

thanks for the improvements! But one thing from Digistix 1 I miss strongly: there is not any more the capability to make a direct recording from other audio apps. The new version allows only direct recording from the microphone. Why this deterioration?
If this were true then how would I have been able to record all the GM instruments that are new to DigiStix 2? If you run AUM and place DS2 in an effect slot, it records what passes through it using its in-built recorded or Auto Sampler. I'm sure whatever host you are using is the problem, as long as DS2 is loaded as an effect (as with DS1) and a suitable audio source is routed through the app, it will record. I just checked it out now in AUM for peace of mind.
you are right! I tried to use DS 2 as standalone for this purpose. The standalone version from DS 1 had in the very bottom an arrow to connect to other apps, which is missing in DS 2. DigiStix loops the whole sample so if you have additional space in there it needs to be removed using the EDIT button. You can Select and area and crop to selection.
A quick question: When creating a custom kit in Digistix 2 and exporting clips to Helium media bay, will the custom bank names be available in Helium to easily edit / make changes to the midi data? This is after selecting Grid Layout then Digistix. Will the currently loaded kit in Digistix be recognized?
You can load the appropriate grid layout that matches the kit used, either GM layout of DigitStix Layout. It is not recognised directly, it just treats the export as MIDI so you have to manually select it but I may look to add this.
Is it possible to build a kit and have it automatically place the names of the original .wav samples on the pads instead of needing to rename them manually?
It would be great if there was an external editor to quickly make kits on a desktop computer. You could then easily import them into DigiStix2 instead of importing samples one by one which is often tedious and boring.
Are you using drag and drop to add samples to pads? It is the easiest method, by simply dragging and dropping samples directly to the pads. If you have a M1/M2/M3 Mac you could install the app on your Mac.

Would be a nice feature if you for example dropped a drum break in and it sliced it up over the pads obviously you can cut the samples up to length individually but be nice if it basically chopped the sample into segments over the pads for playback and you may have to tighten up the start and end of the sample to tighten it up ....almost Mpc style would be useful for all kinds of sounds to chop them up
If I had a penny for all the issues Apple introduce into their new OS's I'd be rich!! I will take a look and see if I can replicate. Just a thought, have you run the App in standalone mode since installing it to ensure all the kits are installed correctly? There are lots of issues with iOS 18.1.1, which is why I never upgrade until I'm sure all Apple's bugs are gone!! I just tried on my iPhone with 18.1.1 and the Assign button works fine in standalone mode. I've also tried an iPad with 18.1 and that was fine, just upgrading my OS to try again. Maybe worth trying a reboot to see if that helps.

Pan from -100 to 100 (Currently I'm using equation to da that x= (y+100)/200 to convert to your 0-1 :)
No, but it is an easy task to drag and drop samples on pads. No plans to increase the round robin layers at the moment as it changes the preset structure. The panning is full range and mapped left to right with 0.5 being centred. I guess I could have displayed it with 0 centre!

Will Helium playback Fade rolls and triplets programmed in Digistix 2 thru saved midi clips? I am thinking of purchasing Digistix 2 for the added flexibility, but would like to do detailed production editing in Helium which I already have.
I am afraid that it is not possible to control different patterns with different MIDI notes in the track. For example Cubasis > Digistix2 track, note C0 triggers Pat01 - C#0 Pat02 - D0 Pat03 etc. So far I have not found anything to indicate this. If I am wrong, I would be very grateful for a message.
Alternatively, record your patterns directly into a MIDI track of your DAW and play them back without Host Sync enabled. You can record the output of DigiStix and when you play the notes back they will trigger the required drum pads but please use CH1 to do this. Sending notes on CH2 can cause a pad to be played in reverse.
I miss the Simple possibilie to save my pattern in a way like "Intro, Verse1, Verse2, Break, End" ...and Create a Category like, Pop, Rock, Metal to store that into! There is no option for that, i can't find!
You have 24 patterns so you could mentally assign Verse1=1, Verse2=2, Break=3 etc. but there is no way to actually name them. Since there are 4 rows of 6 in the menu, it might be worth using the row as a guide. I may add this in a future version mind you.
When you start digging into it, there are lots of differences between the two. DS2 supports 64 pads instead of 16, and GM layouts. It has additional features like the auto sampler, comprehensive drag and drop etc. Just watch the videos and it will become clear they are different beasts.

It is not possible to import multi-channel MIDI files as it relies on patterns not linear music with arbitary tempo's and time divisions. If you want to do this it might be better importing into your DAW and playing the MIDI into DigiStix and moving the notes to play the correct pads.

Perhaps you are thinking of Neon which allows you to split wavs into slices and export them since no slicing option is available in DS2?

You can export the drumkit, rename with a .zip extension, then unzip with the password dsx2p

I guess you need to make sure you are using DS2 and not DS1 and are you pressing the MENU button above the pattern grid?

Yes, there are PDF manuals included in DS1 and DS2. Press the MENU button next to the power button and select Help Manual from the menu.

If you are using AUM then yes it is possible, but most hosts will not allow this without mulriple instances.

I love using apps like Helium to trigger all of my sound modules. Is it possible to assign each pad to separate channels?
You can assign MIDI notes but not MIDI channges. On DigiStix channels are used for other things (i.e. CH2 is used to generate reverse samples).

Seems there's a bug now: Everytime I'm building a user kit and hit the "Assign" button the app crashes. I'm on a 2024 13" iPad Air, latest iOS.

Probably because I've used electronic sounds in many of the demos. There are some accoustic kits too.

To control patterns you need to send CC20 (not notes). The value of 0-23 is the actual pattern to select.
