    It’s scary how our lives can change so drastically with one phone call, email or text. I feel for you both and hope it’s resolved with the least amount of stress possible. Bricksie used his move/adventure to his advantage and I hope you can do the same if you wish to. You have great content and I’m sure most people will stay with you through this.     Good luck kev at least you have got plans, I would look at 2 bed bungalows with a garage or out building, maybe look a bit further north with cheaper housing

    Same thing with hubby and myself. Our previous landlords are selling our rental. We now moved out into a bigger lovelier house and now will have the room to build our own lego city. 👍

    Sorry to hear your news. The same thing happened to my sister, her partner and 2 year old little boy.
    Unfortunately they were told to be out in a month (this was a few months ago so they have now moved)

    Must be so frustrating for you, being in limbo until you know what they want to do.

    Hope you guys find a working solution. Just moved house myself and the property we're in now is up for sale too, but we've got a year contract and they can't sell for at least the next 10months and we're hoping that we could buy it next year

    Hi there, just a thought. You should ask your landlord if they would "rent to own" privately, your payment would probably be near or less then your rent.

    If I was the landlord I would grant you another year. The financial advantage of then not having a period of the property being empty between end of tenancy + the sale is so appealing.

    You can only build Bronze Age Batman with physical instructions

    I missed the start of the stream the other day, so was a little baffled by many of the comments. Sorry to hear your going through this limbo and hope its resolved quickly in some fashion. Culdn't yoou perhaps go into a sort of rent to buy/shared ownership deal with your landlords for a year. And then buy it outright. All the best

      There’s not really a simple way to do that, especially with us having no way of proving we’ll be able to get a mortgage next year.

    Seems a reasonable offer, which if they've asked for a week to mull it over could be promising (definitely not saying that it is).
    I mean, they want to work with you on this, so they sound reasonable.

    Sorry to hear of the bad timing. A bungalow with a decent garage would be ideal long term. We’ve lived in a bungalow for 5 years and love not needing to use stairs.
    if you’re stuck and want an Irish adventure to rural Limerick 🤚🏻my son would loose himself with the amount of Lego you have 😂

    Why not use the "mini modulars" to build a small city (at micro scale) - It will give you a chance to map out the BIGGER city, and it'll also give the channel some decent content.

    2 bed bungalows in Mansfield £170,000 it's enough but cheaper than some areas, Best of luck.

    Isn't it weird? You are able to pay the rent every month for many years. Which would be lower than the monthly mortgage. You will continue to pay a rent every month in the coming years. This is practically a guarantee, as you need to live somewhere, right? But still, you don't get a mortgage because you can't proof a long, steady income, even though you have been able and will be able to pay a monthly amount that is higher than a monthly mortgage. That system sucks for the self employed.

    As an agent, say the house is worth 250,000 would the owner sell it to you for say £225,000 and the difference goes towards your deposit. Making what you need to earn for the mortgage less?

      We still couldn’t get a mortgage anywhere what we’d need to. Our provable income last year was around a third of what it typically is and was the year before

    Hope you’re alright Kev I remember when a landlord of mine did the same, the stress was definitely real. Everything will work out though mate keep the chin up. Big question though if you do move does that mean Ana won’t get the Jaws Lego set she desperately wants?

    If they need equity can't you do a shared ownership with them for a year then buy the other half off them at a later date

    Option B - get your current landlord to sell to another investor meaning you can still continue to rent and live there.

    Sorry to see this happening to you guys I understand it’s not always about evil landlords 😂 but it always effects the tenants more (especially if they have Lego cities) everything always has a way of working out it did for
    Myself when I had this situation - manifesting a positive outcome for you guys 🤞

    Id take the oppertunity to look and see if you can get something larger for same money as your lego room is small and needs to expand. You dont need to be loyal to the landlord and feel oblidged to buy from them. Get the best deal for yourself.

      One thing is for sure, we won’t get anything near as big as this without pretty much doubling what we pay - we have an incredible deal currently

    Add up how much rent you've paid there and ask if can buy reduced the amount you've already spent in rent as rent to buy

    With online work income, I would move into a country that is cheaper. You can buy/rent a much bigger place for less money.

    This is going to sound bad whatever way. All the money spent on LEGO could of been saved up ready for a rainy day. I hope you do get somewhere sorted out, because for me i like watching the lego streams.

      The two things aren’t related. It’s not that we don’t have any money, it’s that we can’t get a mortgage because we can’t prove our income. We’d be in exactly this position if we’d never touched a Lego brick!

      We’re on a one month rolling contract, so they can give us 1 months notice at any point just like we can to them

    Your proposed agreement of rent with a handshake agreement is pretty reasonable so fingers crossed! You really dont have to move quickly if that doesn't happen though. Even if the house sells and completes, you have rights and it would be sold with a sitting tenant. It takes months to evict people just because you bought a house, and with rental reforms coming that's gonna be even less possible in the near future.

      It’s more a case of if we’re going to have to move eventually, we need to move before the end of September because once FM25 comes out I won’t have time until this time next year

      Was thinking the same. With the business running out of that address and Anna‘s mobility you would think it takes at least 6 months post sale to get you out of there. Still a case of if you really want to fight that fight, I get that.

    Sell to you with owner's financing. You still pay monthly rent which is now house payments. Next year you refinance and pay them off

      He actually said himself, they aren’t big corporate landlords, just a coupe who own a house, but now want to give him due notice and sell it. Not sure what you want to outlaw?

      Yeah, I’ve got no issue with the landlord wanting to sell, it’s just bad timing for us. They’re not trying to hurry us, they’ve just said they’d like to sell before December, and hoped it would be to us. Can’t fault any of what they’re doing.

      I’m not wanting to start an argument at all, but I’m genuinely interested to know what you think is unfair.
      I feel really bad for poor Kev, but what if the couple who own the house want to start a family and want to sell to buy a bigger house. Or need to release the equity to put a kid through university. Please explain, as I want to understand what you think is unfair.

      You are welcome, I've listened to Kev since before the gaming podcast, I believe it was the PC podcast I first heard him, he's had all the kinds of good jobs, teacher, finance etc, in hindsight, it would of been the best option, money on rent = money down the drain, if I had a time machine, I'd happily let him borrow it, he's a good guy.

      I disagree. It’s never been the right time for us to buy. We might do one day, but I’ve never seen it as romantically as lots of people do. A house is just somewhere to put your stuff. And that’s speaking as a former financial advisor who specialised in mortgages!
