After he went to the Kannassan planet and got those visions of the future, he tried to stand up for the Saiyans. Every Saiyan was forced into this life, they never really had a chance to be good or they would end up dead. Kakarot was lucky that he was sent to earth as the planet was destroyed. It kept him under the radar when it came to Frieza and despite the fact that Raditz, Vegeta and Nappa knew he was out there, they decided against involving Frieza and tried to recruit him back to the last of the Saiyan fold themselves.

He’s totally evil just at the end of his life he turned on frieza. Other than that if he had went to earth he would have dominated it
