Aespa was born by tragedies and sadness of kpop. before aespa's debut their former artists from SM suicided(sully from f(x), jonghyun from shinee), It was a very big shock and became trauma to korean society. That's why aespa started with virtual and psychological concepts thing like exsitentialism, ae, kwangya(the wilderness), ego.
Also You can notice hints of psychoanalysis self-examination in other kpop group. (bts's the map of mind, euphoria and newjeans's ditto, omg).
Aespa is a result of kpop's painful self-reflaction and growth. There is always a danger of fame and identity crisis of self-awareness in this industry. I love aespa and their fragile girlish atmosphere.
Aespa's concept was planned before Jonghyun and Sulli's deaths.
@@Ri57490 ofcourse SM planned them as a next debut team before the incidents. But at that time team and members had not been concretely decided yet. Their Concepts developed further and sophisticated by the accidents. Be virtual but how does it be is a question. So they call for exsitetiallism. 'l'existence précède l'essence" you could see it in their first chaper movie of blackmamba. People asks idols to be ideal as artistically, morally, socially sexually. if idols doesnt match up to fans' high level requirements then fans become enemy harshly denouncing their morality. That was what happened in the past kpop scene and still. But kpop artists also exist in this changeable world with imperfection like any of us not being in ideal. You can see these aespa's self menifestation in the songs such as 'life is too short' and 'better things'.
Aespa's stance and concepts have been slightly changed since they debuted, you can see lots of metaphors from philosophy and sociology in their movies even though I am not sure whether those concepts and storytellings are finished well

Aespa is one of my four favorite girl groups. This is a nice change of pace from earlier songs. Thank you. My other favorites are Girls Generation (they are awe some), Blackpink (self explanitory), and 2NE1 (unique, overloaded with talent and the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.). Suggest you review 2NE1.
