Plo Koon is very much Ahsoka's father figure in the order. Even though Anakin is her master, he is more like a big brother to her as Obi-Wan was to him. Plo was the one who found her and brought her into the order as a baby, and he's kept a close eye on her throughout her training. Seeing him ambiguously cover for her makes a lot more sense with that in mind.

You can’t have the Clone Wars exist without episodes following the actual war aspect with the specific battles, missions and campaigns. Arcs like this one bring out the true cost of the war. How anyone can die. Jedi and these brave clone troopers too. Not to mention we meet Tarkin for the first time and see how he puts together the idea for the inner workings of the death Star. Crucial part of the show.
So I get it’s a taste thing but I respectfully disagree with Jen. It wasn’t just them walking around. I also feel it is not left field for Plo to protect Ahsoka. Cuz he was the one who found her as a youngling. He’s like her father. ❤️ I always found that scene between them at the end really sweeet. Not to mention, at this point who cares if she disobeyed Anakin. He frankly teaches her to be a rebel the way he is too. 😆

29:36 Plo Koon was her uncle, in a sense. Ahsoka literally called him that in S1 of TCW, specifically during the Malevolence story arc. "Uncle Plo" when he first reached out to them, via holo transmission, if I remember right. Either way, just like what your other viewers have said down below here, Plo has always been there for Ahsoka (aka "Little 'Soka" as he often likes to call her--signifying just how close their relationship was) ever since she was a literal toddler. That one narrator flashback scene did in fact show Plo taking Ahsoka away from her home world and into the Jedi Order, after all. He's been with her ever since and she's always looked up to him as a sort of uncle/father figure while Anakin felt more like a brother to her. 2 daddies and one daughter, all throughout TCW show, from a certain point of view. :)

    Hey, Holden and Jen!
    CITADEL:
This is the third DOMINO SQUAD arc because ARC Troopers Fives and Echo accompany the rescue party. FIVES has the blue semi-circle on his helmet while ECHO has the blue parallel stripes on his helmet and a handprint on his right breastplate.
The introduction of Lannik Master EVEN PIELL who was seen in live-action on the Jedi Council and at the Naboo celebration in "Phantom Menace". I like the gruff Russian accent they gave him.
Anakin's attachment to Ahsoka is demonstrated by his overprotectiveness and his influence on her behavior is demonstrated by her insubordination.
Anakin's carbon-freezing strategy foreshadows his willingness to subject Han and Luke to it in "Empire".
I like how Artoo commands his own squad of reprogrammed battle droids! Lol.
The broken world where the Citadel was built is called LOLA SAYU. The crustless southern hemisphere is dominated by a molten sulfur sea. I like the lore that the fortress was constructed by the Jedi to house wayward adepts.
The Warden Osi Sobeck is a PHINDIAN.
The introduction of WILHUFF TARKIN! Here he is just a Captain but he will be the future Grand Moff, Governor of the Outer Rim and Commander of the Death Star who destroys Alderaan played by legendary Hammer actor PETER CUSHING in "A New Hope"! This arc reveals how the relationship between him and Anakin got started.
C-3PO makes a brief appearance voiced, as always, by Anthony Daniels.
    COUNTERATTACK:
Very exciting episode as the survivors dwindle!
The DEATH of ECHO leaves FIVES as the sole survivor of DOMINO SQUAD.
Good Anakin-Tarkin bonding going on in conjunction with Ahsoka-Tarkin irritation.
I like how Tarkin admires the impregnability of the Citadel envisioning all kinds of uses for such a place!
It's gratifying that REX is the one to defend Ahsoka against Tarkin's doubts.
Ahsoka tips her hand about not being briefed when she fails to blow the wall.
I like how the commando droids' shields are permeable to the barrels of their blasters!
I like how Osi Sobeck ignores Dooku's demand for an update to avoid a withering excoriation!
    CITADEL RESCUE:
The DEATH of Lannik Master EVEN PIELL!
Artoo's battle droids valiantly defended the rappelling escapees!
    .
    The introduction of ANOOBAS.
    The introduction of Admiral COBURN.
I love how Osi Sobeck's left eye twitched under duress. Lol.
FIVES shoots Sobeck from the sky!
Ahsoka murders Osi Sobeck to save Tarkin's life! She's taking her cues from Anakin and Tarkin approves.
It is revealed Tarkin is being groomed by the Chancellor much like Anakin. Palpy knows what he likes.
Their mutual acquaintance and like-minded military philosophy forges a bond between Tarkin and Anakin indicated by the hints of the Imperial March as they clasp hands!
The compartmentalization of intelligence by order of Palpatine troubled Yoda as it did Piell which is why he instructed Ahsoka to reveal her half of the coordinates only to the Jedi Council. The Jedi are leading the war effort yet Palpatine is creating a division between the Generals and the lay military.
Kel Dor Master Plo Koon covering for Ahsoka's insubordination proves once again why he's the coolest Jedi Master!

While I think that there are one or two action sequences that are pure filler and I wanted to see more of Echo and Fives, this is one of my favourite arcs in the series. The banter is just great, seeing how Anakin and Tarkin met and howAhsoka proves herself once more are great touches. Also, this is a great example of how the misions on the clone wars look like. Brave clones die with the jedi esencially being cold with them (cut in half, falling to their deaths, electrecuted, shot in the face, blown up, eaten alive...), captains like Tarkin or Sobeck feel that there's a need for more violence and inmoral methodes, and the death of another great jedi in the climax

A great pilot and a really cool jedi overall. But think he covered for Ahsoka because she sneaking into the mission ended up being the right call and if Anakin nor Obi-Wan would admit it, Plo certainly will.
Also... Domino Squad, I know you guys don't care as much, but we've seen Echo and Fives go so far to just end up like this, this is pretty much the end of them, now the only one left of the squad, who is in the 501st is Fives, he's alone and that's pretty sad, but he is also a damn good soldier.

Believe it or not, "Dobby," Master Even Piell was actually in The Phantom Menace in 1999. So he predates Dobby in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets movie in 2002. Sure, the Chamber of Secrets book came out in 1998, but I really doubt that George Lucas based him on that, especially since TPM was already written and maybe even filmed by then.
I know you were impatient for Clone Wars to get more dark, adult, intriguing, etc., but it's actually REALLY good for the overall story that it started out somewhat childish. That's what any real war in history is like - the first several months each side think it's going to be over soon, but then nasty battles happen, the death toll rises, and they realize they're in it for the long haul. Childhood, naivete, and innocence are destroyed. This arc is Ahsoka's first living kill - the wolf/wharg-like creature, and then it's her first sentient kill, the warden. All of her previous kills up to this point have been droids. Despite how young she is, (and she's roughly 15-16 at this point) she's not a kid anymore. I mean, she was immature "asking mom not dad" at the beginning, but by the end of the arc, I'd say she learned her lesson. Anakin really wasn't being overprotective. This was a far riskier, dangerous, and high-stakes mission than anything they had done before.
As for Plo Koon, I would say he's like an indulgent father to her, while Anakin is a protective older brother and Obi-Wan is like an uncle. I think they all knew that Ahsoka wasn't supposed to be there, but decided to just let it go since she rose to the occasion. This isn't nearly as bad as the fact that really everyone knows about Anakin and Padme but is just deliberately turning a blind eye. Don't ask, don't tell.

Regarding Jen's Hyperspace question at 19:40, the expanded universe imagined hyperspace as a separate dimension, with its own laws of physics, and even some unique species "native" to it. People aren't crushed by their mass because of a piece of equipment aboard all ships which nullifies the speed's affect on the body (also why the pilots don't experience the G-forces of the maneuvers they pull in combat, allowing Han Solo to sit all cool and stoic during a fight).
What's really interesting is that Jedi couldn't meditate for long while traveling in hyperspace, or they would go insane for some reason. The force doesn't seem to work the same in hyperspace.

When Anakin says that the Citadel was place for “Jedi who have lost their way”, the supplementary material goes into further (darker) detail on that. As it reveals that the Citadel is where the Jedi send their more “problematic” members, not just those that fallen to the Dark Side but also those that do anything the Council deems “taboo” (such as visions of the future). So in short, the Citadel is essentially the Jedi equivalent of a “pray away the gay” camp.

At light speed your mass doesn't change thats more of a physical interpretation, there is a factor (a number) in the expresion of the energy required to reach certain velocity that does tend to infinity as your velocity aproaches the speed of light (the mass thing comes from combining the mass with the factor creating a sort of special mass, a relativistic mass if you will). So it is the energy what goes to infinity not the mass, hence you wouldn't feel crushed. What is intersting though is that going at constant velocity is the same as bieng in rest (static), you wouldn't feel any difference between standing still and going at the speed of light (though you'll feel the g-forces when accelerating). Also you might see wierd things due to space contraction.

Master Plo Koon was admiring that he technically suggested something that gave Ahsoka the idea that she should go along. Even though it was not what he meant, it wasn't a lie. It was the truth from a certain point of view. The truth is not so cut and dry, especially when it comes to Jedi. They probably didn't mind as much because they see it as the will of the force. Which is more of a fluid path to follow that rules don't always allow you to follow. If Ahsoka wasn't there would they have the information they needed? We will never know.

It's really nice to hear from Dave, George and so many others on what every episode of TCW means to the overall saga and having them explain various ideas, choices, lore and more. The Mortis trilogy specifically was meant to offer some questions to the viewer, not necessarily answers. Dave Filoni himself has notably stated he doesn't ever want to hold the hands of any viewer, he doesn't want everything to be explained to them, everything to be spelled out. Much like how Lucas himself felt about a lot of the work he did for Star Wars and even TCW, alongside Filoni, as well. But Dave also mentioned that if he were at our homes, he would certainly love to spell things out, spill all the beans, but he can't possibly do that for all Star Wars fans out there, so this is the best he can do here and it's for the best anyways. Always great to have some mystery and maintain much of the mysticality that Star Wars is so widely beloved and appreciated for! :)

The biggest thing I remember about this arc was the clone trooper getting cut in half by the closing blast doors. That’s when I knew this series was going to start getting darker.

5:04 It never went away, you just thought it did. I don't necessarily like Anakin being called Skyguy but I have no issue with Anakin calling Ahsoka Snips. You Americans need to lighten up. Nicknames are great. I personally have about 4 different ones.

I’m not a giant fan of this arc, but I can’t deny it’s super fun. I found Tarkin to be pretty annoying. By the way, the Jedi who lied about Ahsoka is Plo Koon, who found Ahsoka as a baby.

Yeah, I agree. It makes fun watching it. But in the greater sceam of things, it doesn‘t really have a pay-off.
In retrospective, it‘s a bit build-up for season 7 and „The Bad Batch“-show. But nothing really significant is happening …
      Best Regards

I know it's your thing to watch fantasy movies. But I'd recommend you watch Rush (2013) by Ron Howard, based on the real-life events of the 1976 Formula 1 World Championship. It will be a definite switch from the fantasy stuff, and the tracks by Hans Zimmer will for sure hook you in.

20:53 No, Tarkin has no point. Tarkin is an intellectual infant and a sadist. He seems to think that by committing more atrocities than the other guy is how you win a war. It’s pretty conclusively the opposite. I mean are there any War Crimes left for the CIS to commit?

This one and the first arc of season 4 are sort of background episodes. The next arc is a little more economical with story and has a big technical advancement that makes generating backgrounds a lot easier. Expect more, "radial flora."
As for Plo Koon's comment at the end. It seemed to me that he was somewhat convinced by her argument for self-determination; especially since the ultimate Jedi power move is self-sacrifice.
Also don't get too hyped about the beginning of season 4...it's kind of a slow roll at first until it isn't.
