Hi Hanna, thanks for your video. I used to study in Lausanne, another city in the French speaking part of Switzerland. I sometimes paid visit in Geneva during the weekend, though most times were for the airport. Your video really makes me nostalgic about the study life in Switzerland. Hope you enjoy everything there. 🥳
@@hannal0visahey hanna, I'm thinking of studying at uni of geneva but I'm just short on some info if u have any ig acc or any form of communication so I could ask u just a couple things if u don't mind. And ur room looks amazing btw!
hey hanna ! Lovely tour. Sorry I'm a bit late but I wanted to ask about french; ik that you have to already know it but I'm not the best at speaking it or understanding very well. Would you say that its hard to adapt to that language?
Hi there! Great question! I actually also am not the best at French, and in my experience I got by just fine! Most people in geneva speak English so there were no issues there. Eventually you will pick up on the basic French phrases needed to get around or have basic conversation but I recommend taking French classes to help you learn more! good luck :)
I totally get it! I think like half of the student population is international so that’s a plus, and personally I took mostly English classes and then two French ones
Hi there! I would check with the university. Their application may require these additional materials. I studied abroad there so I may have had a different application process!
Hi, Hanna! Hi, everyone! I have a question for first year at Universite de Geneva...when you enroll ( aplly ) for Bachelor year at finance, do you need to speak a French or English is enough? Because, I don`t know French at all and I do have C1 English level. Thank you!
Hi there! Not sure if it’s different for finance, but for me I think there were enough courses in English to where I didn’t need to know French! But I would definitely look more into it just in case you need to know French for mandatory finance classes. Good luck!
Hello sis, currently I am a master scholarship student in Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania after that I plan to pursue my PHD in Geneva but I heard living cost is so expensive can you share some suggested living budgets there? Thanks.
Hi there! Living cost is a bit expensive usually but at the housing cite universitaire it is much cheaper! About 600 francs per month or so I believe - my tip is to try to cook food at home and buy groceries rather than eating out often
Hi Hanna, I will intern in Geneva for 6 months, and I’m currently looking for housings. Your room looks really nice, may I please ask for the exact name of the student housing? I wanna give a try and see if they also offer rooms to interns. Thank you very much!!
Hi there! If you’re referring to choosing roommates, I’m not too sure since I lived in a single dorm (by myself). But I think you should be able to plan it to live with a friend!
Hi!! I know im pretty late but I just wanted to ask If your still in Geneva ? If not where are you now hihi, also when you were studying there how was it ? Was it hard, cool, interesting ? Thanks in advance :)
Hi there! I’m not in Geneva at the moment. I’m in the USA now, but hopefully will be back to Switzerland sometime soon 😁 studying there was great! My professors were a amazing and I love the city. Hope to be back soon!
Hi there! I also went on the accommodation portal and filled out some forms. I think you should contact the front desk or management to get these issues sorted out, and I wish you the best of luck!
@@hannal0visa Thanks a lot, I have just been allocated a room at the Universite Cite Residence. Could you throw some light on the shared amenities. Does everyone have their own fridge in the shared kitchen? And how many people share a bathroom. Thanks!
Honestly for me it wasn’t that bad- I barely saw the other people on my floor and if I was using the kitchen it was usually empty ! But it could be a different experience for everyone
okay thank you! was your experience positive? i’ve got a couple of friends that live there and they say that overall it’s okay and that maybe some food gets stolen sometimes + maybe the bathrooms are dirty :’(
Hi - sorry for the late reply! Yes it was overall positive for me although I had my salmon stolen once hahaha. I mean the showers weren’t always the best, but for the price of living there I was very happy and everything was mostly clean !
