You were my favourite singer songwriter since I was a little girl. Now, I'm old lady. And you still are my first one. Love, Gordon. We'll meet somewhere
Every time I hear this, I'm in floods of tears. Thinking of people who have gone from my life and the fragility of our time on earth. It's an incredible piece of music.

How someone could be such a talented poet, instrumentalist, singer & song engineer all wrapped in one, is beyond comprehension. Lucky us to have lived while he was here. Long Live Lightfoot 🙌🏽
I met Gordon Lightfoot about 4 years ago in his hometown of Orillia Ontario. He even autographed my book Lightfoot for me. I also met his wife, son and granddaughter. Awesome family. Years ago I was at one of his concerts and met his Mom,Jesse. Gordon always took the time to introduce her. Before I moved to Orillia , I always enjoyed his music. Thank you Gordon Lightfoot, Orillia loves you. 🇨🇦❤😎🌟

Hey! My elementary music teacher also got it into his head that he would introduce this song to a bunch of 6th-graders…oh, how the boys guffawed at the line “naked limbs and wheat bins”…and to this day, when I hear the first notes of this song, I think back to that year when I was 11…that’s the power of music and memory!

From age 18 Gordon has been like a best friend and companion...his music has kept me through many a lonesome time and during my ups and downs....his music gives one the feeling like youve come home to a beautiful familiar place....he is a legend..one of a kind...He tops them all.
Rest in Peace, sweet Man. You made us cry, you made us smile, you make us proud to be a Canadian. We will all miss you and I think a great many of Us up here are having a bit of a mourning period right now. I for one, am tearing up after hearing this sweet, sad, but hopeful song.
Regardless of the lyrics, this song puts me in that reflective late Autumn fading into Winter feeling or perhaps the middle of Winter when the sun briefly peaks out from the clouds... waiting for Spring.
Such a lovely song, one of my favourites. It reminds me of years ago when my wife and I used to pick pussywillows with our three young sons. I can still visualize the melting snow on the ground, feel the cool breeze of spring on my face and the re-awakening of nature after a long winter’s sleep. Gordon paints amazing pictures in your mind with his poetic lyrics and beautiful melodies.
Brings back memories of summers on Georgian Bay as a kid cusping on adolescence. This is the transistor radio era, pre video games-cable tv and a thousand other distractions and time wasters. Too old for sandboxes and playgrounds but too young and too shy to do anything but think about girls, you go off and tramp through the woods or follow the shoreline for something to do.
I had the same experience growing up on the Jersey Shore on the board walks, transistor radios, pinball machines and double feature horror flicks. I could never have written it so brief, eloquent and succinctly. Bravo
When we get through this I'm optimistic that the basic needs of our souls will finally outweigh the crap with which we have surrounded ourselves. Gordon showed the way over 50 years ago.
This song reminds me of my late uncle. Sometime in the early to mid 2010s, I was at my uncle's house for a family get-together and he had this music playing. Sad to say, my uncle passed away in August 2021 of a heart attack. Just the sound of Gordon's voice convinces me my uncle is saying "How's it going, big boy?" next to me. I miss you, Uncle Charlie. Thank you for the memories, Gordon Lightfoot. You rest in peace as well.
When my grandmother and I would take little road trips to visit her sisters out of town, we would always listen to his music. I was so happy when we were able to take her to go and see him 6 or so years before she passed . I won't lie, despite his sense of humour I cried like a baby lol

I don’t think I’ve ever heard this song before, although I am a big fan of Gordon Lightfoot, and I believe I own Gord’s Gold on CD. But I was doing a search for songs about flowers or with flowers in the title or lyrics, and I did a search for pussy willow song and this is what I found. I am glad I did. Beautiful song.

This is one my favorite lesser known songs of his. The minor chords in it seem to bring on a mysterious mood and combined with the melody and lyrics it seems to be quite spiritual.
