@Andrew Dotson have you seen this: ruclips.net/video/-v6QXZOJYpo/видео.html Would you consider working on fusion? Is that something that interests you?
Have you seen this: ruclips.net/video/rbfFt2uNEyQ/видео.html Stephen Wolfram says that we are almost at a "Fundamental Theory of Physics" Could you cover this on your channel and explain it in layman terms?
I did work on JETs at cern, didn't understand at all
Dude! I’ve been watching you since I was a toddler! Now I’m 98 years old and about to get buried tomorrow! So excited about your hard work!
Man time really flies
Better late than never, i always say.
@@AndrewDotsonvideos Can you please explain his rapid aging using a relativity argument?
This has got to be the most elaborate excuse I've seen someone make to avoid doing String Theory videos. Frankly, despicable!
And I woulda got away with it too
Lol
@@AndrewDotsonvideos haha got em good
🤣🤣🤣
I feel like a really proud dad watching his son achieve all these accomplishments since watching Andrew in undergrad. Keep it up my dude! We are all rooting for you!
Thanks so much!
500 :/ I’m happy to see all the questions you asked when you were little was just grooming you for your incredible journey! Good job, Andrew! ~ love, Mom 💕
We stan such a supportive mama!
awww
It warms my heart to see a mom support their son so much. You watch all his videos too. Makes me jealous but happy to see there are good people out there.
@@cheetah219 - I have to say, that was very kind. You are here for a reason. Keep following your dreams! You can find support in some of the most amazing places. We’re all here for you too! Love, Andrew’s Mom 💕
@@maureendotson4634 “keep following your dreams” is such cliche advice but only now after I’ve developed the mental apparatus with which I approach life I realised how important it is. If we don’t follow our goals then we will just waste our lives in stagnation and probably regret.
Dude, I have been watching your videos since I was in high school. Now I am an electrical engineer and it is so exciting to see you go far ahead. Your videos do inspire me to take up physics again!!!
We are all proud of you dude!!
Keep on enjoying your journey!!!
Love seeing y’all make it happen, just as exciting for me to read about where y’all have taken your studies

waiting for papa flammy to say "haha engineer"
Heyy, I'm an electronics and telecommunication engineer as well!!
Doing Quantum Chromodynamics always gets the reaction of “Yes, I study Physics” from other non-QCD physicists. As a senior undergrad, QCD has been my lvl 100 mission as a level 10 character.
QCD sometimes gives you that feeling like when youre in calculus 1 and read something about advanced differential geometry haha
Been watching you since you were in undergrad.
I was a highschool student then.
Now I’m graduating next summer with a degree in Physics and Math, hoping to study Physics in grad school just like you.
You’ve been a huge inspiration to me for the last half decade.
Thanks.
Proud of you🙏🏼
Congrats on your hard work!
Gotta be one of the smoothest transitions to sponsored part.
Knowing what you don't know is a real skill, Andrew. That is why they were impressed.
From someone who’s seen your videos since you were in undergrad, we are all really proud.
Agreed.
🙌🏻it’s been great to here about all of y’all’s progress through the years as well
His videos helped me get into grad school. This guy is a legend.
Definitely
no offense but please speak for yourself. unless "we" refers to you and a group of people you know
Glad to see you back!
Congrats Andrew! Hope everything goes well!
Happy you're feeling sparky! Good luck with your research.
Your comment on not knowing what work with your degree will look like is so nice to hear. I finished my undergrad during covid, and just started my masters in experimental astroparticle physics. When I was applying there was so much hesitation because I didn't know if I would enjoy this but getting to actually do in person research for once, and going to conferences has definitely been worth it!
Yeah going to conferences and other places is (supposed to be) one of the few perks of gradschool, definitely feels more worth now that that part of gradschool is more viable again.
It's always a delight to see Andrew's videos! Go Nail the Research!!
Glad you’re doing well, Andrew!
So cool to see you grow over time! Really love this information you are giving out. Cant wait to hear more about your journey.
Congratulations! Reading about QFT got me back into school after a zillion years! Good to see you videoing again!
Good luck, Andrew!
I LOVE to see some TMD PDFs making their way to youtube, even if I don't really know the difference between TMD collinear and current fragmentation regions. anyways very happy to see you thriving!
It's so great to hear of your stay at LANL and to see you grow as a physicist. I remember watching the videos of your final years of undergrad when I was on my first years and now I'm on my 2nd year of PhD in physics.
Congrats Andrew!! Keep up the good work!
Los Alamos! That is awesome, congrats man!
Really interesting information to share on the realms of Nuclear Physics. Wishing you the best in your next part of your Physics journey!
Congrats! Been a while since I've seen your videos show up on my feed, but I'm glad you're still pursuing particle physics! Hope that LANL provides for you more useful insights into your research and that you gain a lot from it.
Congratulations Andrew!!
I love watching your videos because I can see how far I've come in physics and how I still have so far to go. Your videos helped me decide to major in physics and now I'm watching this video in the lab on my lunch break. 3 years ago I would have pretended to understand everything you said in this video but now I know enough to admit I don't understand everything. Good luck with the rest of your internship!
Congrats man! I’ve been watching you since I was in college; now I’m taking my first QFT course in grad school. You’ve been an inspiration and I’m glad to see how far you’ve come. I’m especially excited to see what comes next!
Impressive the physics journey that you have taken and even more exciting to see where you are going!!! I will keep watching your awesome content.
You're litterally living what I wanna do, keep it up! Also looking foward for you to explain QFT to my smooth brain.
I'm currently a senior physics major going through the grad school aplication process, and seeing your journey as a physics student up to this point has been super helpful and inspiring to me. Thanks!
big things are in store for you man, BIG KUDOS!
I've loosely followed your journey -- I'm so proud of you :).
Keep it up and get your Phd :).
We are all rooting for you!
I know it can seem overwhelming sometimes, but I promise you, it's worth it.
I miss your regular uploads but I can only imagine how busy a PhD is. Hope you're doing well, the PhD is going smoothly, and we'll be looking forward to seeing you again when you can upload.
I have watched your videos since I was 15, and it has been exceptionally great to monitor your journey to see what I can become in another 4ish years.
Your journey through the Academia has been really interesting to follow since I started as an undergrad about the same time as you did! Right now, things have become even more relevant, since I recently started my PhD project on lattice computations of GMDs and TMDs. Even though we work at the different edges of the perturbative regime, I am looking forward to hearing about your results and experiences! Also, do not be alarmed if you meet a fan at a conference haha!
I had a couple friends who worked/visited at LANL, heard nothing but good things. Best of luck, been following you for years!
Congrats on the internship! This was a big year for me too, I finally decided to quit my old job and start a PhD in physics. Your videos over the years were part of what inspired me to take the leap. So thanks, and best of luck with the rest of your degree!
Ive been watching your videos since you were in undergrad and since Ive been in highschool, now I am in my third year of physics/computer science, youve always been an inspiration to me and you were my primary inspiration to pursue physics in university. This is so awesome to hear
It's nice to see another person going through the process. It helps me reflect and see the progress I've made rather than feeling the imposter syndrome. I very much appreciate your videos :)
Congratulations!!
I work up at LANL as a Radiation control tech. I'm glad you enjoyed the research you got to do!
So excited for your QFT series, when you have time for it!
The Pool-equipment on the wall is just Adrew bringing his Particle-Collision job home xD
😂😂
Good luck in LANL! Hope for new videos from that place with quarks :)
congratualtions so happy for you
Congrats on the LANL internship! I'm a physicist just down the road at SNL. Since we're mostly an engineering lab, I'm always jealous when I see other physicists working in their native habitat
Congratulations at getting into Saturday Night Live as a physicist!
@@bruhmoment1835 it was a rigorous audition process
Andrew's an inspiration to me! I moved to New Mexico at the beginning of the year and started aa a freshman in EE and Astrophysics at UNM this year, my goal is to get an internship at COSMIAC, or Sandia or Los Alamos Lab.
When I started following Andrew this year I had no idea he went to NMSU and worked at LANL, it's amazing to be able to get advice from him
Ah just right up the road !
That video quality looks really good! Congratulations too! 🎉
Hey Andrew, I've never commented on a video before but I wanted to thank you for making all your vids and vlogs over the years. I was doing my undergrad in physics and unsure about what I wanted to do after my bachelor's. That's when I stumbled upon your graduate school vlogs and joke videos and really found comfort in your style of content and what to expect in graduate school as well. I'm now doing my master's in atomic physics and I'm heading to CERN in a few months do do my research about the structure of antimatter which has always been a personal dream, and I can genuinely say that you played a huge role in getting me here, so thanks :)
Love your content, Andrew. Keep it up!
Love these! So glad to have been watching your progress throughout the years! You also explain concepts wonderfully. I’m an MBA but have always been interested in your videos as I love calculus and physics. I’ve learned a lot from you and from my own personal studies. Thank you so much!!
Thanks a lot! Always cool to see when people from outside of physics still find the videos enjoyable!
This is amazing. Congratulations
You are such a great resource. Very inspirational.
Man time flies I started watching you when we were both in undergrad. I ended up not getting a phD like I planned but kept learning Python/DataScience glad you stuck with it.
Thank you for the insights! Greaaatttt video, and congrats!!
so proud of my physics boy right there, so nice to see you get to this point, been following you through undergraduate! good luck with everything man
Thanks a lot!
Dang andrew congrats. Getting to do work and research at a place like los alamos is really cool. Asking questions is really important and I like that this is where this started from your TMD
omigosh, congrats!
Way above my head! Congrats though mate that is awesome news
been watching you since the end of middle school (or what would be start of highschool in the US) and have just started my intigrated masters programe with the university of nottingham in the uk, your a big inspiration
Awesome stuff, Andrew, congrats. I've said it a few times, but thank you for inspiring me to go into physics and astronomy. I'm applying to grad school this semester and I appreciate all the content you've made over the years. It's gotten me through some tough moments to be honest. It's crazy I'm now at the spot you were when you first started this channel. Keep it up! We appreciate everything you've shared.
The kids are all grown🥲
No f-ing idea what you said the entire video but great to see an update! I'm a senior in Computer Science in Mexico and I'm currently applying for my Masters in Computer Science in the US! This video is exactly what I needed, exactly when I needed it!
Highschool to here been great watching you. Was even more of a surprise when you moved to NMSU in my home state, and now LANL where I went to till highschool. Still make me wanna do more math and physics all the time, despite an avoidance of others wanting to in my field. I'd nerd out with ya if you're ever in the Abq area.
Dude!!! I'm so glad our world has people like you Andrew...what a transformation you've made!!!!🍺👍
Huge congratulations to you sir. Your are going to do awesome have been watching your videos since I was in high school. Now I am majoring in Math and Physics in university
You are honestly my inspiration. I have watched your videos since I was a sophomore in high school and now I writing this from my first conference as a sophomore in college. These videos make me so excited for grad school and I hope one day I’ll meet you in my journey in theoretical quantum physics.
Be proud of your progress, keep it up!
Been following you since you were in undergrad this is amazing, I couldn't hack it as a physics PHD student so i mastered out as a engineering student but you always brighten up my day
Wow, the same day I'm starting to study Chiral PT (my first time with EFT) you upload this video. So cool!
Congrats Andrew!
Hey Andrew, thanks for sharing your video and your advice. 👍
Congratulations! You’ve worked hard to get here! They were probably exited to have someone who isn’t afraid to ask “stupid” questions. Los Alamos, that will be a trip!
and i thought the calculus and differential equations exams were hard in my computer science thing. i have no clue how to even read these formulas, but it's probably a matter of knowing the notation. good luck on your new endeavors! sounds really cool and i'm glad someone at your university noticed your enthusiasm.
I stopped pursuing academia after an MS in physics so I really appreciate living vicariously through you! Thanks for sharing!
I've been watching your videos since I was a physics Freshman, here I am now, finishing undergrad and entering a quantum field theory and gravitation group. You were a great inspiration into this, Andrew!
Damn bro ur awesome!! I'll be in undergrad next year too!
I went from 10th grade to 2nd year on my bachelor's degree in Electronics and Telecommunications engineering watching your videos Andrew. You literally kept my interest in physics alive all through the years! Looking forward to growing academically and professionally along side you man. Good luck and Godspeed to both of us💖💖
Best of luck with the rest of your schooling 🙌🏻
I’ve recently gotten strong enough in latex that I can start to use it for tests and exams. Every time I see it out in the wild it makes me so happy!
Keep it up Andrew! Your channel helped me decide on pursuing physics, and just last week I got accepted to a uni Im very happy with to start my undergrad in physics next fall. Good luck with everything in the future and thank you :)
Your passion really inspired me to follow my dream and start my degree. Now I am in my last year of undergrad :D thanks for inspiring us all
Good luck!
Congratulations Andrew! looking forward to the QFT series though i know full well i won't understand a thing at least until I finish math methods 3 in my year 4. But here I am struggling with partial derivatives in MM 1 😂. Anyways, thanks for inspiring me to be confident in my decision to go into physics, looking at how much you are enjoying your works keeps me going as well.
Interesting...Where do u study ?
Watching your videos is so surreal. I started watching you in undergrad and now I am a first year Physics PhD student. Proud of you!
That transition was chef's kiss. LoL
Amazing progress ❤️
Congratulations! I recall hanging out with the Sandía and Los Alamos teams at the 1st National Science Bowl in '91 (I was on the Pacific NW Labs team).
In the 90s I managed to score an interview at Berkeley Lab, but they wanted more experience (sys admin position, and me just some bloke with a BS in Astrophysics). It was a great experience getting to sit in a Cray and all, but I'd have loved being involved with their laser project. The Gemini Observatories in Hilo were a similar story. The TRACE project as well. These are tight markets, so I'm very glad to hear you were invited to intern.
Still debating a re-do of physics as a post-retirement project, or jump ship to math or my easy route of CS (likely CS combo with either, since CAS system design is a draw). Gotta justify all those books that I keep buying every time Springer has a sale going on... ;)
Well done Andrew!
Man. I was still in school when I watched you. Lots has changed for me, but glad you are in your phd. I still wish I went into phd school, but my goals are we get to something like that. Soon. Soon
Amazing stuff as usual!
I remember doing QFT for axions for my master thesis. I feeling you man.
So proud 👏
I am a junior in high school and your videos have made me want to do physics even more than I already do, so thank you.
YESSSS. Do it!!!!!! Please!! Teach us QFT!!😭I would love that
I'm an engineer by trade, but my first love has always been physics. I have been using your videos for motivation to stay with it in my physics major. The way you talk about it makes me excited to learn!
that’s awesome :)) I’m happy for u
CONGRATS ON THE SPARK!!!!
(fellow theoretician from ecology)
Congrats! Hope you have a great time working at the lab! As I'm starting to learn QFT now, I'd be happy to see any QFT videos you put out... but at the same time QFT seems like one of the largest "sub-areas" from physics I've ever seen, where you need to know lots of prerequisites from all over the place before you can even start. So it's definitely a big undertaking.
That’s awesome that you’re starting QFT, I feel like non-abelian gauge theories will come much more natural for you with your GR background than for most people who first encounter it. Same math, different group. Christoffel symbols -> gauge fields, parallel propagator -> Wilson lines, curvature tensor -> field strength tensor etc. it be interesting to talk with you about other parallels you notice along the way
@@AndrewDotsonvideos Yeah, I've noticed some of those parallels already. It seems in GR, you study curvature on "Riemannian manifolds", but in QFT you study curvature in "Principle Fiber Bundles". Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a good intro to fiber bundles that isn't just a mess of symbols and definitions, but it looks like most QFT texts don't bother talking about them anyway. I guess it's something only the pure mathematical physicists worry about.
@eigenchris you might want to try Mark J. D. Hamilton's book "Mathematical Gauge Theory". It is perfect for self study or studying in small groups.
Also, gravity/GR can also be thought of as a gauge theory on a fibre bundle. More specifically it is a gauge theory formulated on a manifold's affine frame bundle or even its affine spin bundle. These are bundles that are as closely tied to the manifold's structure as its tangent bundle is.
I'm a biology major in my senior year. I did not understand a word you said but you looked so passionate that I still enjoyed the video! I literally have no idea how I want to follow up my studies (and I have to choose something fast). Watching you makes me want to reroute my career (for practical reasons, I'm prob not gonna do that, but maybe as a personal interest in the long future).
There is this whole world of knowledge in physics that I'm not privy to and that frustrates me.
Although I am from a different field, I've been watching your videos for years!
They're very entertaining!
Been a while since I watched. You still in school!!!? Boy you too smart.
What I got from this video as an undergrad is that this is the equivalent of not considering air resistance and friction.
I like that
Hope it's going well! Can't wait till you share with us that you got your PhD. Hopefully you'll be able to share your thesis in its entirety to us, which I'd definitely want to hear about.
Haven’t seen your comments in a while, welcome back! Hope all is well.
Andrew, I want to be like you when I grow up. man you are amazing!
I am doing a BSc in Physics currently with intent to go to a PhD eventually. you are an inspiration for me.
