Check out Amanda's solo song " Drowning in the Sound "!
They are playing a few shows this summer and are supposedly working on a new album.

Thank you so much for this reaction, I discovered the Dresden Dolls about 15 years ago and love their performances, Their music is so big for just the 2 of them, they are so in sync. The music touches on a lot of emotional issues, but there is also a wonderfully dark sense of humour in there too.

I've previously watched a few other videos by The Dresden Dolls. Considering how bare-bones they are, it's amazing that they sound more like a "Trio". They manage to have a very full sound, and as you said, "they are so in-sync", and their sound is seamless. Interesting choice to intentionally play with such limited instrumentation. As only two musicians, the audience can focus on them as individuals. Very impressed with the singer's wide vocal/emotional range, and the drummer's dynamics all over the kit, they both can emote with so much power and complexity .

Thanks for reacting to this. Viglione may be my favorite person to watch drum, so deliberate and dramatic. The version of this song from Live: In Paradise, is phenomenal. The Dresden Dolls and Amanda Palmer have rotated in and out of my playlists constantly since I first heard them so long ago now.

Loved their first albums. This was great. I recommend 'Delilah' from their next album after this. I guess i like the dramatic songs the most.

I saw the Dolls when they were touring on their first album, and I could not believe how much noise just a drummer and a piano player made. It was mindblowing, especially their cover of War Pigs. They totally rocked, been a fan ever since.

Nice, love the Pumpkins shirt. I'm going to see them tomorrow with Green Day in Boston. I actually met Amanda at a Ben Folds show at the Boston Symphony Orchestra, she was so cool and looked amazing in person. Long live The Dresden Dolls!!

It wasn't your first touch with "Cabaret" - Bowie as Ziggy too was very influenced by Brecht/Weill; he did a version of "Alabama Song" (like boring Doors did too)! - Anyway - just do more Dresden Dolls! (Please!)

if you're curious what the song was actually about, it's about hating your father and hating the he's a part of you. he's the "half jack" part. the lyric "i'm half jill and half jack". she's saying she was an accidental pregnancy and suspects that her father never wanted her, and she doesn't want him.
