Everytime I’m really sad and feeling like I can’t take it anymore I listen to this song. As someone with a huge anxiety and PTSD I can tell how hard it feels to see the light at the end of the tunnel. So this song means a lot to me. Thank you for this, I’ll be forever grateful for it
I gotta admit when Being as an ocean put out waiting for morning to come I was confused and taken back at first. But it grew on me. This album is a whole different animal and I feel they've tapped into something New and exciting. This is the evolution

It makes me so sad to read all the comments saying they're disappointed by Proxy. I've been following BAAO since Dear G-D, seen them live twice. Waiting for Morning to Come was BAAO exploring a new direction, evolving. I feel like Proxy is the right next step in this evolution. The album is great, lyrics are still on point, it tells a really interesting story. Sure, it's no longer the melodic hardcore it used to be, but this still feels like Being As An Ocean. Hopefully I'll get to see you guys live again. Keep making amazing music. I love you guys.

Only real fans of any metal band understand when they start to scream less. Its usually nothing to do with the genre and everything to with the fact you can not put that much strain on your voice for most of your life. Screaming is technical. And the vibrations it puts off can effect your voice over time. Alot of bands that where once metal and now sing more scream less do it so they can still enjoy and love music

You guys have honestly supported me through some of my hardest times in life through the music you write, you guys played live shortly after releasing how we both wondrously perish with in hearts wake and dream on dreamer in Melbourne back in 2014.
I saw you guys there and was immediately hooked, I've listened to every album religiously and they're a true artistic masterpiece in their own right.
You speak the words I wish I could vocalize myself and therefore help me get on with my life through relationship breakups, friend breakups, depression and when I really have nowhere to turn.

Believe me, I've been with baao since the beginning. I have every album in physical, except for wfmtc, that's digital... and a neat collection of merch. I thrive on the heavy and the husky. It's a sun right in my middle that lights up. But I'm not stuck in a certain sound. I don't get stuck with bands. Especially my top ten bands. I love to grow with them and take every little thing in for a light, beautiful, expanding adventure of experiences. I love the range they have gifted and I genuinely love the new sound. Everything is fun and nothing is serious and this new music feels like a fantastic ever expanding, dreamy, life party. The lyrics really do sing to me in a unique way that paints my life differently. That's what music does though. No one song is the same for two people. Things only have the meaning we give it... and for me, it's making my illusion more colourful and I'm glowing with support. as i said in another section, maybe i just miss joel’s powerful screams, because i swear, i felt the same emotions you felt listening to BAAO, i cried because BAAO seemed to tell my story in lots of songs.. and maybe it’s because of the language barrage (i’m italian, i need the lyrics to understand what american/english musicians say) but this just doesn’t hit me. it doesn’t arrive i don’t know if i’m explaining well what i’m trying to say. yes, it can be fun but i can’t hear what they’re trying to tell me. and this hurts me because i love them since 2012

They separated from their last lable because they were not allowed to release their last album when they wanted. That's why there's 2 versions of dissolve. If you don't like the sound it's cool. I didn't like LP last album and I still don't, I just play their old stuff. Just play their old stuff and hope they make some new stuff that you'll like. Cool name btw

@@bradsuhrbier3647 there are hundreds of rock and metal subgenres, but often in this scene when bands go softer or they want to "experiment" they go for the most radio friendly generic alt/pop rock possible. This isn't far from that. They've had so much going last album and they straight up threw it away for this mediocre mess. Even Alone was superior to anything on this.

I miss the old emotional screams that have reached my heart millions of times and made it cry so endlessly. All the old things that I loved so much about the band and made me forget the shit that hits us every day, all of this I miss so much on the new album.

All you OGBAAO fans that are disappointed cause this band is changing and evolving with every album. I guess y’all miss the whole point of this band, i mean its in the name. An ocean is constantly changing and getting bigger, no wave is the same.
Music is like a dance in the sense that its created with no particular intention in mind. Its a flow of sorts, if music with a particular vision in mind, obviously being the ending product, then the most treasured and appreciated pieces of music would be the shortest. People would gather at shows for one crashing chord, as opposed to something created in moments with no intention other than play, passion and love.

Especially for those men out there who still believe that you need to either ignore or internalize all your emotions to be a "real" man. That's complete bullshit. IMO being masculine means being brave enough to expose the real you and talk about your insecurities and fears as well instead of trying to hide them. Depression and anxiety is a real thing and even though you think you can control your symptoms, if you don't handle the root of the problem it will eventually build up and build up until you break. That's when you either talk about it to someone or make poor, destructive life decisions. Fuck your macho image, talk about what's bothering you and you will be far better of.
I was terrified to give this album a listen since they were switching up their style a bit. Is it different? Definitely, but the beauty of the lyrics, impeccable structure, and emotional impact are still there. This album is wonderful.

this definitely isn't the BAAO that I originally fell in love with and moved my soul, but I can still respect the guys for wanting to try something different. this kind of music just personally doesn't do much for me
It's a fantastic song, but as one of my favorite bands I was hoping for something more. Their last album was incredible, Dear G-D was incredible, bands change but at the same time this just feels like watered down BAAO. This album isn't terrible, i still listen to it, just not on repeat like i do with some of their other albums.

People are allowed to dislike things, being a fan doesn't mean you have to put on a fake smile and pretend to like a band's output. If I was in a band I'd much rather my fans were honest, keeping quiet when a band missteps doesn't help anyone. I don't hate this album by the way, it certainly has its moments but its definitely their weakest album - and it doesn't make anyone less of a fan to say that.
The only song I liked from this album but I like that they are looking for a new sound. Excited for Dear God tour and to see what they come out with after this “blast in the past tour”.

He explains why they cannot GO BACK, because if they released everything the same people would call it stale, they anticipate the trends and sometimes miss them, they aren't here to just cater for existing fans they are trying to get new fans.

i saw you in Antwerp in 2013 at kavka, with POLAR i thought you guys were the best, you had sick riffs and licks and deep meaningfull, heartfelt lyrircs, which i admired and it inspired me to play guitar on my own. unil this day my fingers have remembered how to play every fucking song from the self titled album 'being as an ocean' (2012). I thought you guys were gods back in 2013 but now im 22 and im pretty dissapointed hearing this teenage anxiety post metal/hardcore pop extravaganza, the purity is lost, you lost your soul. I guess as a post hardcore band you better quit after 1 or 2 good albums or you are doomed and have to write the same bullshit record about heavy serious depression stuff every 2 years with a new sound and for a new generation anxious 17year olds, hoping the tumblr hype machine the gears that launched the band back in the day keeps turning.

People, doing vocals like what BAAO did before can, in the long run, damage their vocal cords. this new sound will give them somewhat of a break and heal their vocal cords. look at Oli from BMTH he has already damaged his cords and who knows what would have happened if he kept up with his old sound
