- Today I go wild with the Fara-J Ham Radio Antenna from VFComms.
This was sent to me by VFComms with the expectation I would GO WILD; What do you think?
2nd part of the video, I didn't have my strain relief in place. NBD, Just wanted to mention, it's probably wise to use it!

Noted: a Kit will be made soon. Thanks for the idea!
id be down for a kit that can utilize several bands. 10m to 70cm including 220. shouldnt be too difficult to use snaps to disconnect and connect each link.
You could probably do something like Ed Fong does and insert a trap at the 70cm point, that lets you get 70cm and 2m dual band without field changes... very cool, thanks for the video HRD!
Suggestion for strain relief - I make a climber's prussic out of paracord and wrap it around the coax. It can slide along the coax to whatever point you want to attach it to; a mast, a rope or in this case the clip on the end of the strap.
That's pretty good! Thanks for sharing
I love this! thank you
Great video!! I've been on the fence about buying one of these. It looks like my procrastination is going to pay off, between the hacks you've developed (and continue to develop?) and the improvements that VE6SFX will make (possibly a dual-band or even tri-band version?), it's going to end up being a badass portable antenna.
Very informative build video. Should name it the versa j antenna, cuz it's got great versatility
@@ryankc9oza118 glad you enjoyed it! I have a few other ideas too!
Damn bears!... Always messing with me when I ham radio! 😉😁
They're everwhere!
Excellent experiment. Thank you for such a good contribution. 73 YV4ABC
What about sewing in metal fabric snaps at the cut points and sewing the other part to the "faraday jumpers" then you can just snap them on and change bands.
I was thinking about that today, also. Little snap buttons. I was going to discuss it with Ben tomorrow. Nice call!
Or just use a small binder clip. Clamp it over the slice area to complete the connection. Loosen and slide away when you want the cut open.
@@vinniec5286 that's a good one! I am using a clip now (for a similar project) thanks!
@@HAMRADIODUDE No, thank you. I enjoy your videos (and good humor). Keep up the great work!
I dig it. I Made a jump with my 2m version and it kicked ass.
Nice
I am really curious as to what this would look like for 10M and how it would compare to a dipole, 1/4 wave and 5/8 wave verticals
It's a half wave antenna
@@P.SeanCoady yes but any thoughts on 1/2 wave vs 1/4 wave vs. 5/8 wave verticals
Woot 1st
@@tom23rd you had beat me to it!
Hi i need the dimensions of this can you send me i want to make it
You could ask ben, I think he has full documentation with dimensions
