Hi! Do you by chance have a video on how to draw the contour lines of a water table when there are already land contour lines on the basic map like you have in your lesson?
I have a basic map with several contour lines on it, the well locations and I have figured out the depths. But everything I have points to that the water table would run perpendicular to the contour lines already on the map. Everything that I see basically says that the water table should run parallel to the land contour lines. I am so confused.

Hi! So I don’t for that particular case but I can try to help reword it for you. The water table is essentially a lake or river flowing under the ground. If there is a hill on land, the water table underneath the ground flows down the hill. The water table takes the shape of the land above it, but it’s flowing under the ground. So if the ground is flat in an area the water table would be flat in that area and at a depth of whatever the water table is in the area. Sometimes the depth of the water table could be a few inches to feet if you’re near the ocean, or if you aren’t it could be a hundred feet deep, that part varies. You do not draw contour lines of a water table. Contour lines are only drawn to measure elevation . I hope that kind of helps
