Love this. Lived in East Tennessee all my life and every spring when our garden was plowed, my Mother would go to the garden after a rain and find arrowheads. I still have her collection.
As an old bow hunter I can tell you that the natives would sneak along a creek at dusk or dawn and deer herds would be out away from the creek grazing and the arrow shots would range out from the creek a hundred or so yards where missed shots would have landed.
It's always a good time finding tools from the past! It's incredible how people thrived for thousands of years using nothin more than a rock. Native Americans were some amazing people, that's for sure.
That's a nice site! I love field walking. With less and less folks disking and going to no till it's getting harder and harder to find a good place to walk. Thanks for sharing with us.
Our New Jersey farm was near a brook, which is the North Branch of the Metedeconk River.. The farms near us that bordered the river had field which always produced arrowheads or projectile points and stone axes etc. The smaller the points the more likely they were used to tip arrows, they had to be tiny or the arrow wouldn't fly , it would dip toward the ground. The larger "arrowheads" were used with spear shafts and were thrown using an atl or spear thrower, a device that gave the spears more power and distance. Is there a large water source near those fields ,like a river or brook? I can't see areas like those being far from a water source. Great day, great finds and so much History before WE arrived! I can't wait until the weather gets nice so I can get back out and find some more treasures! I am in awe of how my Indian ancestors lived! It's ashame that we have destroyed this beautiful land, they lived here for ages and didn't leave destruction and trash just amazing tools and treasures! Wish I had been born in that age.
Just today l found a very small bird point in a site known to be Paleo. About 3 weeks back l found my first full/unbroken point made of petrified wood out here in west Texas. Also have found a grind stone and spear tip about 2 1/2in. Y'all have some nice stuff there, keep on looking down.
I grew up on the Oregon Coast hunting a treasure there that is tied to Oak Island Treasure. I use to hunt Indian Artifacts all the time. Have a nice collection of stone tools from Round Hammer Stones, Axe Heads, Large Palm-Size Scrapers, many small ones like you held up. After finding a Stone Wall at 10ft, the State Archeologist told everybody to lay their tools down, but a couple people did not, and one thing led to another. The next thing you know, the Archeologist called the County Police and had my grandfather Arrested. Good thing the Sherrif was nearly my Stepdad "a get out of jail free card" lol she did not know that. But short of the long is the State revoked our permits indefinitely. I live 85 miles away now, so getting to go relic hunting does not happen much anymore. I sure miss it. So I watch everybody else hunt from my chair.
You certainly found the mother load for arrow heads. I have never seen arrow heads with the little tab sticking out, usually only the triangular piece. Great historical pieces, and narration thanks.
That piece with the concave part where your thumb fit could be a scraper. My grandfather was an avid Indian relic collector and I have acquired the remains of his collection. I have six scrapers all similar shape. They used them for scraping leather clean.
My brother and I used to hunt for arrow heads in a field by our house, when we were kids. We would find geodes also. We put them in a box in the garage. When my parents retired and moved to a smaller house, my mom threw the box in the trash. 🤦♀️ You found a lot of nice relics!
I am trying to discern why there would be so many points in this one spot. The only thing that makes sense to me, is that there must have been an Indian village on that site. Which, when you stop and think about it, is a cool thing. During a construction project near my house about 40 years ago a site was discovered that was a village and an archeological dig was done. The amount of artifacts found was staggering. Cool stuff!

We used to find arrowheads, spearheads and such things in the field next to my Grandpas farm, until the property sold. Also, across the river from Grandpas farm is an old Indian burial pit. This is in Kansas BTW.
Found some in plowed fields in Bartow County, Ga., where my neighbor had land. I've found them as well as pieces of spears made of obsidian in Eastern, Oregon. The badgers and ground squirrels leave them around their burrows. There are lots of them there.
That round rock is what we call river rock. They have tumbled in the currents of a river or stream that caused them to grow and be rounds. Think of a snow ball. In the center there is generally a starter like a piece of quartz. Great hunt

I once found a White Flint arrowhead by a little creek out behind my house ! I was told by a friend of mine that White Flint arrowheads was used in ceremonial practices !

Where you located? Flood plains along rivers, creeks and streams is most common. Any springs areas are bonus. Im located outside St. Louis, Mo. and just have to look down...
Quartz grinder was awesome...that's a special artifact...used to grind corn ,and nuts ,etc. Into finer flour type consistency,then mixed with water or animal milk then cooked in clay and rock wood burning oven
A guy I knew in high school had hundreds of arrowheads.. if not more. The 1st Spring rain over a fresh plowed clay field leaves them sitting on the top of the soil, and they are easier to find, he said. I always wanted to go look for them.. but life and reasons..🤷♀️

@11;00 that is a round rocks center section likely caused in nature by a series of fractures possibly done after being heated in a fire or pit i have found a few in streams
My thoughts on the different sizes of the points. Most look like arrowheads, the bigger ones are probably Atlatl Dart points if they used them in your area. MAYBE spear points. The second round stone found near Steve's arrowhead could be a bearing block for a bow drill set.
Many times those are practice pieces, spall fragments, teaching kids, etc...defined chert, jasper, dacite, obsidian are the ones you want. There were a couple larger rounded ones that looked like they may have been hammer stones.
Awesome old Indian artifacts, I have found a few over the years, Love them. My brother found a beautiful spear point up in ME, its about 4" long or more, shaped so well, they new there stuff back then ( : Look forward to seeing more.
The first time I went Arrowhead hunting, I got really lucky...so lucky I won't say on here,but in one spot I found fifteen perfect bird points, I found two at first and dug up the sandy soil beneath them, and found the rest all together, and that's not all...but never mind
That flat round rock reminds me of a mazon creek fossil concretion. Clean it up, might be a fossil on one side or the other, as they fracture along the plane of the fossil.
It does! Our team knows very little about that part of history earlier than the 1600s-1700s as it relates to native artifacts. We appreciate any help anyone can give us.

Most places attendance is free and one can learn from the collectors and arti-fact hunters. The internet can help, and your local library. I'm almost 75 and have looked since i was very young. What you are doing by looking is a good way to learn, so don't give up? Good luck and God Bless!
At the shows you can by books, charts on the age, grade, etc. of arti-facts. Keep an eye out for tools. Just remember, a rock is just a rock. Axes, celts ( ungrooved axes) chipped axes, pendants, plumments, etc. By the way, pick up and clean pieces with detergent , the fossils. Pick up and keep the fossils. Listen to the older fellow with you. He seems to know a good amount. Once again, God Bless!

fresh plowed fields often expose arrowheads, if there is a water source nearby such as creeks or rivers it"s a good sign. It's been my experience that you'll often find an area of muscle shells where arrowheads are close by. Happy hunting

Emily's first find looks like an Archaic period stemmed point. 3000 to 10,000 years old.
Durst Stemmed, about 3500 BC .

Very cool... I grew up on “Hightower Trail” in Georgia. I’d find them on occasion.... but not in THAT quantity!

The round rock beside the knife at the 10:45 mark looks like a discoidal game stone from the Mississippian period.

I've found a bunch of stuff where I live, in South Texas.
Not all are arrowheads they can be scalers, drills, and knives
