I've been riding Shimano for years and getting my bike unlocked with these guys, and I've never once had an issue. It's so good. I'd never buy a bike I couldn't unlock, and these guys know their Shimano stuff!! Keep it up - you're changing lives for the better, and getting people back out into the great outdoors.
Great video 👍 I installed one of your chips in my e-gravel bike, with the Bosch gen 4 motor, at around 2000km. I recently hit 10,000km and have never had an error code. 90% of my riding is in eco and I NEVER turn the bike off. I let it count down and turn itself off. I also have two ebikes with the Bafang Ultra motors. Both have aftermarket controllers which bump the max watt output to 2200. Overkill for sure, but a ton of fun.
What chip brand did yo install? And what Bosch system do you have? I'm looking forward to unlock my emtb, I have the performance line CX with the the first kiox. I read most of the problems people have with Bosch is with the smart system.
@@Carloscf13 My wife and I specifically bought pre smart Purion bikes so they could be unlocked trouble free. 1K miles on mine with countless times in Turbo on the pedals hard for miles. Not one single error code. Bosch Gen 4 motors and Speedbox 3.0's on each. 34 tooth chainring's, 10-51 cassette's, 29er 2.5 tire size = 35mph on the flat at 110 crank rpm.
Brilliant. Just the video I need before deciding what Emtb to buy. Thank you for taking the time in making this video and please make more on these topics!
I think more than having fun, is being safe. 25km/h it's too slow to ride on the street sharing a lane with cars and trucks. I try to avoid riding on the street because at that speed its dangerous, you become an obstacle and some people just dont care about your life. 45km/h for me its a good and safe speed for the rider and the motor
if you ride above 25kmh you are on a motorized vehicles which are illegal to ride on trails bicycles lanes and anything else than roads, anywhere that has a no motorbike sign you also cannot go on and you need a drivers license a full helmet etc...why do arrogant egoistic people think they are above everyone else and "deserve" the right to do whatever they want, even 25kph ebikes are motorbikes if you ask me consider yourself lucky they arent banned from everywhere but roads the more people break the 25kmh limit the more likely that day will come, if you want to unlock fine but don't speak about it nor defend it in public >
@@fredEVOIX I just gave my opinion on the subject, just as you did, so don't tell me what I'm allowed to say or not.. I know the law and if you know how to read, you'll see that I never said that you should ride your bike derestricted on places that according to the law you shouldn't.. what I'm trying to say is that in MY OPINION the law is too restrictive to ride using assistance above 25km/h in some places, for example, the public road where you are more an obstacle than a thread.. if you don't like my opinion, you can move on with your life and mind your own business.
Fantastic review very informative and light hearted couldn’t agree more with your closing comments e-bikes are helping guys like me get off the couch and enjoy a ride mostly in eco on a tired or lazy day when I prefer to stay home I spoil myself in Trail
Very understandable wanting a little more speed. I bought a legally regulated e bike and at 25kph cut off speed I am the slowest rider on my commute into the city. Very frustrating. Just 30kph would be delightful.
Hi Guys another great video. I’m looking to de-restrict the tq motor of a Trek fuel exe9.5 and have watch your chip fitting video which made it look extremely straight forward. One question though not covered in this video is how the motor performs in speed and reliability after chipping. I ride a mixed surface route in the mid setting on mid power. Thanks. Keep out putting your great content.
Just bought a 2023 Giant Reign E+. It has the SyncDrive Pro (85NM) and is restricted at 32km here in Canada. When you say it can be de-restricted via software how is that done. Bluetooth ? or need to hook some hardware to it? One last question, do you recommend to wait until warranty is done?
It's done via Bluetooth and the dongle shown in this video is required and quite difficult to obtain. Waiting for warranty to be over is personal preference most people that come to us do not.
If I get a used ebike with the 3rg gen bosch performance CX, would I have troubles for the commute, besides losing on 10 NM, or is the shimano still better?
An unlocked Specialized Brose (2022 Turbo Kenevo) can overheat and shred the belt after about 30 min riding flat out with some steep climbs mixed in. Specialized could see the tire size was changed to 800mm in the software, which is out of the range you can change it to in their stock settings, and so they denied my warranty. I sent my motor out and had ebike motor repair install an upgraded belt, upgraded sprag, and upgraded bearings, which was about $900. I also have a 2019 Bosch CX Haibike, and I had no issues riding with it unlocked for a few years.
So many stories about Giant motors being bricked due to speed tampering recently, have you had any feedback on the software unlock with newer syncdrive 2 emtb's with the most recent firmware updates from Giant? Thanks
if you ride in turbo nonstop it will overheat quickly. 2.9kg is just not a lot of mass to absorb 700W for very long. Worse, if mounted in a carbon frame and plastic motor covers, it will have very bad cooling through airflow or the lack of it, and poor heat transfer onto the frame.
@@beetlebopter888 on climbs, many people ride in turbo all the time. the longer and steeper the climb, the more it will heat up, as the low speed doesn't provide any cooling air.
We focused on motors that can be unlocked, Given the Pinion is very Niche and currently not available in our location there is no way to unlock this motor at the moment.
I have a Luna Cycles X2 enduro MTB with a Bafang 600 motor and a 2000 watt controller. Sorry guys , you can't get this beautiful carbon bike outside the US
Depends exactly which bike/System. Yamaha makes the motors for Giant, Hai bike, Gas Gas and more, If an actual Yamaha branded bike like the Moro 7 we have chips suitable for them and they work well

For Shimano can you reinstall factory software if you need to claim under a warranty. Also do you do work in the USA?
Yes u can re install factory software. There are no agents availible in america but it can still be done remotely.
Do you have any more information on the Yamaha pw x3 motor ? Or is just the same as the giant unit?
Each variant of the Yamaha motors are slightly different as the firmware is customized for each brand so not the same as giant.
look forward to hearing from you matt curyer
Do not touch a bosch motor with a rim magnet if you're planning to derestrict. They are the absolute worst and you'll regret it.
Why? Mine works fine, just need to line up the sensor and magnet on pedal

How about the Yamaha PW-X motors, is it the same as the Giants?
We have chips for the Yamaha motors, which chip depends on the brand of the bike.

yes
All bafangs are unlockable. However, don't forget to service them!

You talk about road-chip riding as if it's silly and dumb to want to ride at 45kph. I hope you're saying the same things to Tesla drivers.
I didn’t get that message from the video but certainly road bikes have less rolling resistance than any MTB
What does Tesla have to do with noobs riding bikes at speeds they can't control?
Bosch sounds terrible for unlocking, bricks you and have to change modes to trick it? Sounds dumb.
Their engineers have went to great lengths to prevent tampering.
