- Abounded with deciduous forests, hills, and waterfalls, the Hadgarh sanctuary is situated in Keonjhar district of Odisha bounded by Mayurbhanj & Balasore. The Boula Reserve Forest and part of Satkosia Reserve Forest have been constituted as Hadgarh Sanctuary having an area of 179.310 Sq km. The sanctuary was notified in the year 1978. Boula Reserve Forest consists of two hills lying east and west of the Salandi River. The Boula hill ranges are extension of Similipal hills of Mayurbhanj district. The clusters of hills extend through the western and southern tract of sanctuary. Boula hill is the highest peak in the range being 1861 ft. tall. Hadgarh sanctuary is the abode of rare and endangered flora and fauna and flagship species like elephant and leopard.
