    What's up fellas. I like this review, I actually use the platform to my lone wolf climber a lot just because of the room, but it's too big for some places, so I might look into this one. Also, this past year I sold my tethrd phantom saddle and got a Tx5 Lonestar, it's not even close on comfort and weight between the 2 saddles. TX5 knocked it out the park. I've sat in a lot of saddles, cruzr is comfortable and buzzard roost might be the most comfortable, but TX5 made the the perfect saddle in all areas to me- lightweight, comfortable, well constructed, easy to use.........

      Let's clear this up. No you can not. No
      deer stand is as mobile and silent as a saddle/platform combo. I should know. I own dozens of hang ons and climbers. No hang on manufacturer sells a custom fabricated T6 aluminum base that weighs only 3lbs. You can make something similar, but it won't be as light or as strong unless you have friends willing to give you materials or services for free. I agree 180 is overpriced, but to be fair if you've never used one you have no idea what you're missing or what it's worth

      @@m4nap4rt20 look at the XOP vanish. its cast aluminum and high quality. whole stand cost $179. Now look at the tethered and look what you get in comparison. it cost the same but you are just getting a platform about the same size of the seat on the XOP Vanish. the price on these is outrageous

    • @m4nap4rt20
      @m4nap4rt20 4 года назад

      @@byronbrush9030 but I can't use the XOP as a saddle platform? It's not as ideal as the predator either, even I were to construct everything needed to use it in such a way? And I dont know what their per unit cost is, but I'd be willing to bet that it's higher than XOP's as they're newer to market and doing a lower volume. Still, I'm not saying it isn't priced too high. It is. I am saying that you can't fairly compare the price/usefulness of a platform to a hang on. Saddle hunting is blowing up, in case you haven't noticed. Predators are already on backorder. To some extent the market sets the price, so it's tough to blame Tethrd. Look at the cost of the Lone Wolf Custom stand, or the hunting beast sticks which offer almost no advantage over Muddy Aerolites. This stuff is marketed to hard-core hunters who'll pay the price asked. And they'd be the fool to charge any less for it. Lots of these guys' saddles will be collecting dust next season and they'll be back to hang ons and ladder stands. It's not for everyone, but the fact you can buy an ok hang-on for the same price as a platform isn't really all that relevant.

    Hopefully saddle hunting becomes popular enough for some large-scale production companies to start making platforms. These should cost a customer $40-50 for a quality platform based on the materials and work required to produce, not $140 to $180.

    Does the podium not adjust to the lean of the tree like the predator? Trees don't grow straight up too often in this part of the country. The other thing to mention is that I have ladder stands that use that mesh, and the welds on the mesh itself can crack and split apart if too much weight is centered on one spot.

    • @hunterlawrence7228
      @hunterlawrence7228 5 лет назад +1

      Platforms designed for use with hunting saddles will rarely hold your total weight. A lot of your body weight will be distributed into your tether and hunting saddle. Unless you would rather stand straight up on the platform, I don’t believe this should be a legitimate concern. Your tether and/or other safety harness and fall arrest gear is what needs to be your number 1 safety item.

    • @jacobmyers3149
      @jacobmyers3149 5 лет назад +1

      Paul Crave traction is absolutely not an issue especially when going around the tree. I guarantee you will not believe me when I say that the Podium had better traction when wet than the Predator did when wet. You’ve got more surface area on the edge of the podium than the Predator which help a ton with traction. Not saying anyone platform is better Han the other but that’s our resolutes from testing.

    Own em both. Tethrd Pred is far better. The sharp sides and corners make in-tree maneuverability easier. In really cold weather the Out on a Limb creaks and pops, the Predator does not. Plus the predator is easily silenced by wrapping paracord around the edges, which makes them super quiet. Just my $0.02. Go with the Predator platform...

    The reason all this saddle stuff is so expensive is that everyone and his brother are into it , and also they take advantage of this china virus shit . Every place you go there is a waiting list to get something , none of this stuff is mass produced . Once the mfg all figure out how to let a China man make this stuff and you can go in acadamy or bass pro and pick up what you need the prices and quality will drop , but for now we have to deal with the high ass price of something because these guys old lady's are sewing the saddles one at a time and some buddy of there's is making the platforms in their shop . It is what it is , if you want it pay for it if not make it yourself if you got the means or just stick with the old hang on .
