However , in my opinion, she looked a bit too girlish in the 1981 Miss Universe contest. Her hairdo and evening gown also looked too casual almost to the point of “unkempt” Unfortunately in the Miss World contest here , she went overboard to the other extreme with that peroxide blond perm hair and flashy blue gown. She looked too mature here and her figure was not as slim as in 1981.
When Canada got 1st runner up to anyone who knows geography it gave away the fact that Venezuela had won since Venezuela was already awarded Miss Américas ahead of Canada which is also a part of the Américas.

So if the representative from a region was named in second place to the crown but there's another from that same region still in the mix, it's crystal clear that other is the winner.

Another flaw of this contest is that in the swimsuit segment the presenter doesn't mention the country names just the names of the contestants except a few of them. This way the audience doesn't know who is who. This contest is really badly organized.
