Regarding the last story, last May my son-in-law bought me a ticket for Alaskan Airlines to visit in Washington state. but it didn't have a seat number. I'd never flown this airline so I assumed I could sit anywhere. I asked the FA and was told it was overbooked and there was no seat for me. I just smiled and joked that I should have just picked out a seat and sat down. The FA talked to the pilot and was told since I wasn't being a Karen, when the flight was all boarded they found me a seat in first class. Only time I've ever been in first class and probably the last. I made sure to have a seat assigned on my return.
The last part, not the AH. I used to travel by train a lot when I was in the army, at the time there were two seats in opposite corners of many coaches that allowed smoking. I usually tried to grab one and succeeded in this instance. So I'm sitting, chilling and listening to music and light up a cigarette. A woman a few rows down yells No smoking here. I point to the sign on the window beside me that says smoking seat. She still continues to rant and when the ticket inspector comes round complains to him and demands I get kicked off the train. He tells her that smoking is permitted in that seat and she has to be quiet as she is causing a disturbance. I just smile at her but I will admit I smoked more cigarettes on that trip than I normally would!
The kitchen is a great place to keep those plants since that's the room you want bugs the least, yet attracts them the most. Pitcher plants in particular are fascinating and at least these are not human sized ones equipped with a pair of fangs on the lip

Then contact an attorney and file a civil suit charge. The last story, they had paid for accommodations on the train, and that grants them the right to use in full those paid for accommodations.
Technically, the escalation would be strictly to the Sheriff, not the Sheriff's department. The Sheriff's department usually has zero jurisdictional overlap with local police departments, and has no say over the (mis-)behavior of the same. The Sheriff as a county official *might* have jurisdiction, but the Sheriff as law enforcement generally does not. The better option would be contacting state police straight away if malfeasance or incompetence of local law enforcement is suspected.

@@scragarIf the ticket comes with a seat that you paid for then you can call a conductor (which the trains do have, admit they do normally stay up front with the driver but they are still there to help and there are call buttons on the trains to put you through to the drivers area too) to enforce the issue and if she still refuses to move then the conductor will call for the police to meet them at the next stop (only know this as I once got held up for a similar situation) 😊. Will admit that if the person sitting down was disabled, elderly or pregnant then I'd let them be (admit most people don't these days sadly) but if it's just someone who brought a ticket and didn't pay to get one with a seat then sorry but either move or give me the money I paid for the seat.

Some people who go Vegan don't realize that the body needs Vitamin B12, which meant contains an abundance of, so start acting crazy. Go look around some Vegans forums and you'll see them talk about how Vitamin B12 supplements are a must. The deficiency isn't really lethal, but it's dangerous for the body to go without what it needs. Not justifying the irrational behavior, but saying that educating yourself before changing a lifestyle is always needed in order to avoid being apart of a meme.

Here in the UK, it often depends on the time and date. I've had to take the train a few times into London. Some of the tickets I paid for in advance came with a designated seat at no extra cost, sometimes it was extra, depending on how busy the train usually is. (Not sure how it works when paying at the station on the day, I always paid in advance.)

The lady in OP's seat is fortunate I wasn't in OP's shoes as I'd have snarled at her that this is my seat according to my Ticket and she has 2 options... 1) She can get up and find another seat... or 2) She can deal with the discomfort when I sit down in MY seat whether she's there or not...and according to my Mother, despite being about 40 Lbs. heavier than I really should be, all that excess weight went elsewhere (belly and the front of my thighs mostly) because I've always had a VERY bony ass (and considering how difficult it is for me to sit for long periods even 30 years later, my ass is STILL underpadded and today, I'm almost 80 Lbs. too heavy, [Sigh])... Nah. But going Veggie long enough, especially if you don't seriously educate yourself, results in severe malnutrition. This one guy had been a committed vegetarian for a couple decades, and he was feeling sickly all the time. So, he added fish to his diet. Surprise! His health improved a LOT. The healthiest diet for a human IMHO is an ovo-lacto-pesco vegetarian diet- with the addition of small portions of lean meat. Look at a human skull- binocular vision, canine teeth, mixed dentiiton- that is NOT a herbivore skull. We're opportunistic omnivores, in the same ecological niche as bears and racoons- and with the same dietary requirements.

The healthiest diet for a human IMHO is an ovo-lacto-pesco vegetarian diet- with the addition of small portions of lean meat.
Look at a human skull- binocular vision, canine teeth, mixed dentiiton- that is NOT a herbivore skull. We're opportunistic omnivores, in the same ecological niche as bears and racoons- and with the same dietary requirements.
