- Every week or two I like to add some chicken or seafood into the mix. I had good luck with this technique on wings, so I decided to experiment with fried shrimp. This is an extremely simple method and they came out WONDERFUL! Enjoy!

Mitch, I made the pork rinds breaded wings you made the other day and I must say, "YUM YUM YUM!!" They were sooooo crispy. The only difference in my prep compared to yours was that I didn't have a 380 degree setting on my air fryer setting either 375 or 390 near the high range so I opted for the 390 x 15 min per side. PERFECTO!!! I can't wait to do the shrimps.
I'm glad you liked them.
@@OldGuyCarnivore indeed. Thanks for sharing
So good!!!
Like the idea of pork rinds used as a coating. I am deadly allergic to shrimp, but good idea for chicken or pork chops!👍🤩🤩🥩🥩🥩🥰🥰🥰
Good video. A chef once told me to get shrimp out of the pan when they just start to curl. If they curl into a C-shape, they're probably overdone. Have a good one.
Very True! Also when they turn pink they're done.
You too!
I heard the same advice from a chef!😊 9:02
Thank you for the tip!
My husband was grocery shopping while I listened to your video. He’s now returning with groceries that include a bag of large, frozen shrimp! Thanks for the idea!🤗😋Carol
My pleasure!
i'm gonna go get some shrimp tomorrow for this and pick up some scallops to try as well. I've done your wings twice and they are spectacular. I just love watching your presentation so don't go anywhere. I am a thin old guy just like you with super high cholesterol. I've never been healthier on a carnivore diet. I go to the gym twice a week and to yoga four times a week and it's hot yoga thanks for being there.... our best days are ahead of us.
Amen!
Mitch, I love your videos. I've been eating trout patties breaded with pork rind crumbs for quite some time. Much tastier than bread crumbs. I also make my own pork rind crumbs by breaking up pork rinds by hand into a small container (or you can use a food processor). Much cheaper than buying pre-made pork rind crumbs. Keep up the good work! God bless!
Don't tell anyone, but a salmon patty video is coming very soon...
I love fried shrimp and have been missing them on a carnivore diet. I'm definitely going to try making these.
Great video and I love the experimentation as you go along. Thank you, Mitch.
Thanks James!
Air fried shrimp is tough! I definitely prefer pan fried with you. My dad and I, just before carnivore, were testing Bonefish Grill Firecracker Shrimp recipes. I finally nailed the recipe and they were SO good and now I can't eat them! Lol! I'm excited to see how these turn out and then try them myself!
Also, I feel ya on the paper towels...oh my gosh! I am forever mopping the grease out of and off of everything before washing so I don't have to add the plumber to our Christmas list! Love the video! Thanks Mitch!
Paper towels are pretty cheap.
Just bought some more shrimps from Sam's today. Along with more smoked salmon; ya got me hooked on that stuff. Haven't bought coconut oil in a while, but I've been told it's gotten expensive. Bacon grease or lard is the way to go, IMO.
-I suspect that 2 min a side is too long for shrimp.- (You just said that.) Can't wait to try it this. Consider using that much bacon grease to deep-fry a well-seasoned, thick steak. You'll get an all-enveloping crust to die for. My best friend was skeptical about me cooking her steak that way... until she tried it. She's also starting keto this week with my encouragement and guidance (to include pointing her to Dr. Westman).
👍👍
This is a great idea. I have an excess of bacon fat so I need to start frying in it just to use it up.
When I fry bacon I don't put the strips on paper towels. I put them on a layer of pork rinds on a plate. Surprisingly the pork rinds don't get greasy but they sure taste good.
Good idea
Mitch.... what an awesome meal. Going to try this
We used to have a fast food type restaurant where I live (Jimmy's Seafood). They had seafood and everything else (burgers, dogs, etc) but I'm sure it was all seed oil fried. Anyhow, every year. as soon as we had the first warm spring day (live in CT) , I would get fried shrimp, cocktail sauce, unsweetened iced tea with lemon. That was so good !
Very good idea! I have about 10 lbs of fresh shrimp I brought back from visiting my mom in Destin Florida.
My timing was perfect ... LOL
I’m new to carnivore and this looks like a great alternative to beef and butter! I also enjoy the cooking process. Thank you!
You're welcome
You've made me hungry and heading out to buy some shrimp! 😋 Excellent video.
Good idea Sue!
I use a lot of paper towels too. Saves me a lot of work. Makes more trash, but that’s not my problem. Better than additional dishes and laundry 😉
It was a good idea to mix everything in a bag, instead of messing up another bowl. 😁
I’m making bone broth myself today, since it’s sunday, and I have little to do this evening. Tomorrow I’ll buy some chicken thighs, bake them, shred one of them, and make a soup of it in some of that bone broth ☺️
Wow! Those shrimps looked delishious Mitch 🤤
They are Hannah!
WOW!! Excellent!! Suggestion - Chill the shrimp after washing, then egg wash and then coat one at a time. I think you’ll have the PERFECT Fried Shrimp. :)
I think you're right.

Oh yeah Mitch, That looked so good. I will give the shrimp a try soon. Tonight it's breaded panko fish, and I as well have a bunch of bacon fat to use. I love it when you do a taste test of the recipe. It gets the juices flowing.
You inspired this video. Many thanks!
Great video, Mitch! I appreciate the ideas.
My pleasure!
omg ! this is just what I needed ! i start eating more shrimps these last few weeks and I wanted to try them a bit differently. but i didn't have so much ideas. thank you Mitch for sharing these ideas and the steps to cook ! really cool ! it looks so yummy! i will try it !
Glad to hear that Joana!
I like how you use the bags to mix the shrimp up in the egg and rinds, instead of rolling it in a bowl. Much neater!
Another yummy treat going on my todo list! Thank you! 💪🤩🥩🥓🌲🔔📯
You're welcome!
I have seen that if you add a teaspoon or 2 of beef gelatin to 1/4c panko, it tends to not flake off of the meat as bad
❤Ooooh, that looks really good and easy!!! I’m going to try that with fish! Maybe some Cod! Thank you for the tutorial!!! I love using the bacon grease idea!!! Thanks you!!!
Another meal I like to make is cut up 3 slices of bacon, start to cook the bacon and when around half cooked, I add a bag of shelled large shrimp until shrimp is done. It is delicious.
Sounds great
I just sauté shrimp in butter with some salt and pepper (which doesn't seem to bother me).
But they're just good no matter what!
I need one of those little temperature gun thingies . . . And that shrimp looked mighty good!
20 bucks on Amazon. Link on my website.
We can not by the wild shrimps anymore in France 😢 only shrimps from farms and they are horrible and toxic.
Mitch… you need more crumb mixture . With all that shrimp you had 5-6 spoons of crumb would’ve done fine . The egg was fine… even with 2 eggs….., anyhow the kitchen is a lab experiment. Keep up the good work 🎉
True, not enough crumbs.
Love the channel and love this idea with the shrimp! Thanks Mitch!
My pleasure
Your previous videos are a treasure trove!
Glad you think so!
Absolutely love these videos. Just starting out on carnivore.
Glad to hear that and welcome. Best of luck.
Keep it coming, Mitch. Schnitzel next?
Maybe. It would be great.
Greaaaat idea for the baggies for the eggs and pork rinds! Thanks!
Divine! Yum❤️
Thanks for sharing your results. For something easier here is what I do with shrimp. I bought a Cuisinart shrimp steamer, and season the shrimp with some Cajun seasoning and let the steamer do it's thing...perfect peel and eat shrimp every time.
That sounds great, I love shrimp
Hello Mitch, I tried the shrimp I added a little Old Bay seasoning to the rinds and it gave it a perfect flavor. Love the crunch. I am finished with traditional bread crumbs. Thank you.
Sounds great!
I need to try this for sure.
I let my bacon grease solidify, then turn on the stove for a few seconds, just enough for it to release from the pan and slide into a bag or direct into the trash.
Mitch.... notice that the tail of the shrimp currled. When it curls flip it. If you like them brown more you need a hotter pan.
Good tip
Shrimp is always part of a meal. They have very few calories. But they are so good.
I appreciate this tutorial.
Thank you Mich...will pair shrimp/ steak
Sounds great!
Thanks for the cooking shows!!! I think it’s fun too!!! I have tried many of your methods and have great success!!!
Glad you like them!
Mate, I love me a good prawn! This looks like a great addition to the Christmas table.
interested to give this a go… suggest rack to drain, and dipping sauce - butter mayonnaise with a little sour cream and splash of vinegar
That looks great! I love to make Mahi Mahi filets from BJ's breaded with those pork rinds and they are fantastic!
I have some Mahi in the freezer and I've never fried it before. Great idea, thanks!
I bake it in a toaster oven@@OldGuyCarnivore
I used the Italian Pork King Good crumbs in a meatloaf for added flavor and everyone loved it.
That's a great idea
Love this carnivore shrimp recipe. Steak and shrimp, so awesome!
Thanks so much
Oooooo Mitch. Now Your Stepin Up Your Game. Love how you switched this up 💯
It's good for impressing family and friends who accuse you of having a boring diet.
👍
Making this Sunday! Tx
👍
Awesome videos as always, I loved it even tho I do not like shrimps (YET!), but.. one thing I have heard is, that laser temp-meter, it should be better to use it under right angle towards the item we measure, it should get better reflection of the beam, I am not an expert on this, but my friend who used it for work told me this hint..
Probably true but close enough either way.
I can hardly wait to try this recipe! Good job!! 👏👏I bought a bag of pork rinds and need to buy shrimp or chicken..
Thank you for sharing, enjoyed watching both videos!🎉🥩🥓🍤🍗❤
Have fun!
Great job, Mitch! I like the idea of coconut oil
here is one to try in air fryer i use chicken skins to wrap ground beef and air fry them soooo good carnivore dim dum!
Sounds great!
Bacon grease is always a good choice to fry fish in. Especially fresh caught trout. It tames that "fishy" taste.
You're very creative and inspiring. Way to go.
Thank you so much!
I'm taking the rest of the day off and frying up some fish now!!
👍👍
the egg in the bag is a fantastic idea...for the crumbs.. my mom used a paper-bag from the groceries LOL
That would work!
They looked great!
👍
Thx Mitch! I season them with cayenne and a little paprika.
👍
I'll have to try this . I use the same shrimp only shell on and devveined . Boil 3 minutes . Dip in hot salted butter . Add a little lemon juice and pepper if you like . Not sure if that would be Conivoire allowed . Don't boil over 3 minutes or they will get rubbery and tuff.
Small amount of lemon probably won't hurt.
That's the way~ just keep on going, even when a small note-to-self presents. You still get all the flavor & texture, so you're good there for sure.
I like to make a cream sauce & my husband enjoys homemade ranch w/them~ both are very good, especially as a side w/a steak, chix, or chop. Great experiment to share, thank you.
#SelectivelySocial ~ that's perfect
U could make salmon patties too. Just put egg and pork rinds in them. They r yummy too.
Great idea!
Good stuff Mitch. I’ll get some prawns. 😊. Aussie Bob 😊
Mitch, you could add a little bit of heavy cream to your egg mixture (still is carnivore). Also, you can lay paper towels in a baking dish and put the crumbs on the towels and then lay the shrimp on the crumbs and pat them and then flip the shrimp over and repeat.
That might be a better way to bread them.
@@OldGuyCarnivoreWe use bowls (or deep dish, eg soup plate) for "egg bath", instead of plastic bags, but it does not matter at all, just a matter of personal preference, if the items we need to put egg layer on are too small, bad is more easy way I guess. also, we put plain milk into eggs too, it makes a little bit more "watery", but that might be just a "local preference" of national/geographic recipes..
Next do fried oysters. you could end up doing a seafood player. Oh for a dipping sauce try carnivore Mayo, made with ghee. And gulf shrimp are the best. 🎉🎉
I don't like oysters, it they would work out like the shrimp
It's all good. Some do, some don't. I have developed a taste for oyster omelets. An Asian thing.
Well I know why cooking shows resonate w me even though I’m carnivore and pretty much ‘cured?’ my food addiction… the mental side of addiction is still with me and this feeds it (in a healthy way!)… shrimp are on my Sam’s list!
I think a little variety is ok if not too often. My diet is still 95% bacon, eggs, and beef, but it's fun to make fish and chicken in tasty ways every so often.
@@OldGuyCarnivore absolutely! Looking forward to a cod video!
Good stuff, Mitch!❤
Thanks!
t I tried your chicken wings. Except, I added paprika, a teaspoon 2 tablespoons of garlic powder, and 2 tablespoons of. parmesan cheese. They were absolutely delicious the best I’ve ever made. Thanks Mitch.
I leave my bacon grease on the stove in a container, its easier to work with and keeps for months. Just FYI.
Such a great idea
Glad you think so!
another awesome video. like watching these! sugar free ketchup, horseradish and worchestershire sauce make a great dippin sauce
Mitch, I think that shrimp are done as soon as they turn pink. That's what I have gone by in the past when I cook shrimp. My paranoia takes over once they turn pink. And I cook my little teeny bit more though!😊
I agree. They cook fast so I have to pay attention.
Looks good Mitch, I will try these soon
Please do!
Yumm!
Nice job, my friend. 👍
Thanks!
Ghee would be another option for frying those.
Me and my home girl love the shrimp this way!!! But we airfried it cuz ain’t nobody like shrimp smell in a one bedroom apt!
I’ve got to stop watching your show in the evenings, because it makes me hungry and I’m supposed to be fasting😂
🤣
Prepping / cooing food --- if you enjoy it --- is therapeutic!
Kinda
Another good meal with the man Mitch, shared on Face Book
I appreciate that, James.
As a fellow paper towel enthusiast lol, I enjoyed your video my brother and will give this a run. In Australia we love a surf and turf...which is a good steak topped with sea food.
I always loved crumbed deep fried sea scallops ...you video has given me the idea to try and reunite with an old love! 😂
Many thanks
That sounds great! Surf and turf!👍
@@OldGuyCarnivore another video idea for you brother ! Take it on
@jasoncampbell3318 you'll have me spending all my time in the kitchen! 🤣
@@OldGuyCarnivore 🤣 We in Australia have another pub classic...the mixed grill. It will vary from state to state here I guess...but what I know it as...is steak, lamb chops, proper butcher sausages, bacon and topped with a runny fried egg.
@jasoncampbell3318 isn't it amazing that until recently, we knew what real food was?
That looks very good!!
It was!
Suggestion: dip them in homemade carnivore-bacon mayonnaise. Carol
That would work.
I put a little aluminum foil in a bowl and then pour the grease into that. I sometimes put it in the freezer until trash day. We have bears and even though they can’t get into the bear-proof container, I don’t need them playing ‘kick the can’ with the trash receptacle…🤣
Good idea
@@OldGuyCarnivore That way you can pour it while it’s still hot and add to it during the week if you fry other things. I thought I would use bacon grease to sauté veggies I might still be able to tolerate (I was plant based for over 35 years), but I just haven’t wanted any since I went carnivore. This recipe will at least give me a use for some of it!
Just did some porkrind coated shimp the other day. Use a salad spinner to dry the shrimp. Glad i kept it! The only useful thing about salad spinner. 😂
Good idea!
Sardines would probably be great this way.
There's a thought
I like shrimp with carnivore crisp chicken flour. Pork panko and a sprinkle of freshly grated Parmesan. It’s yummy on chicken too! It’s just meat and salt no grains. Cooking is a science and you are brave to try untested recipes on utube! 9:02
I'm enjoying the experiment.
hahha i've got the exact same surface thermometer!
Making now.......
Delicious. Not much clean up 😊👍🍤🍤🍤
Where do you find bacon without sugar added?
I don't worry about a small amount used in curing as long as there are 0 carbs per serving
O.k. Thank you.@@OldGuyCarnivore
Do you ever save money and grind up your own pork rinds in a food processor? Or does it save money?
It doesn't save money. Pork rinds are mostly air and a bagfull doesn't give you a lot.
Looks so tasty. We call them prawns here. 🍤 Shrimp are tiny. Might need an alternative to the pork panko. My country’s a bit behind the times. 🇦🇺 🍤
I get the pork panko at Amazon. Don't know if you can do that or not.
@@OldGuyCarnivore I don’t do Amazon since they swindled me out of a Prime TV account I didn’t ask for. Can ask daughter though. Thx Mitch.
In the US, prawns are what we call fresh water shrimp. Shrimp is from the sea or ocean.
Good afternoon from Copperhill Tn.
Hello there!
lose the bags and just dip into the eggs in a bowl then press your shrimp into the pork rind crumbs they stick better that way can even add extra to top and press onto them ... just use the tails as handle and you can avoid getting hands messy for the whole route.
Thoz look good!
I like you shirt. I need one of those🌞
I think that's the first time I wore that one in a video ...LOL
Lard has a smoking point of 374 Fahrenheit so wouldn't you want to stay under that in order to minimize the risk of creating carcinogens?
Good point.
It's you, Mitch.
Who else? 🤣
I always eat the tails.
Couldn't hurt....LOL
