Nevertheless, I personally very much enjoy and appreciate the DiC dub, the script was humorously and well thought out and written, the voice actors very good, the songs heartfelt, definitely a lot of work out into it that’s for sure.

The reason for the Disney previews on a Sailor Moon VHS, that’s because DIC, the original rights owner was owned by Disney between 1996-2000. And this was before the rights to Sailor Moon were bought by Viz Media, which is currently owned by Warner Bros., Disney’s sworn enemy.

The tapes from this collection are so interesting to me because for one, I love the art and the pink glitter cases. However the art is even more interesting because each box has some kind of error in it whether it was a sailor wearing the wrong colors or having weapons or gems that don't belong or are from other seasons, to straight up including characters that aren't even from that season. It also only had select episodes, sometimes out of order. Ugh I need to collect them now! P.s. thanks for sharing this with us 💖🌙
I still remember (And I think it's still in the house somewhere) This VHS of a Sailor Moon marathon on Canadian T.V. that my cousin recorded. It starts with the first episode and ends around were those alien people fused with a space tree, by then my Aunt changed the channel to a talk show. I remember those old 90's Smarties and Dunkaroos commercials, and the weird Canadian PSAs.

I didn’t remember much of the DiC dub, having watched it maybe once or twice back in the day (I was almost 20 and in college when it first aired on YTV), and I’ve been watching the Viz Media redub on the Crave app. The original dub is better than I expected, though I find it weird to hear Luna with a much older voice than in the current dub. In a way, this approach to redubbing reminds me of what happened to many manga series that were originally loosely translated in French with a flipped Western reading orientation back in the 90s that later got a more faithful translation in the correct right-to-left reading orientation - Magic Knight Rayearth and Dragon Quest: Dai’s Adventure being two such series.
Good old VHS. 📼 Also, I learned of the infamous mistranslation of the disguise pen from a certain "Zaid Magenta" (while under the "MissAnthropony" name). But seeing the scene in its entirety here, seeing Luna go from saying "It's a very powerful transforming tool." to saying "You say disguise power" made me laugh. I think that kinda contradicts what that mistranslation was saying like they were trying to correct themselves in the Dic dub. lol
Today is Aug 28,2024 on this date back in 95 " A Star is Born " premiered in Canada on YTV at 3:30pm. Watching this made me so happy all the great memories I have about this show comes back all over again!! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!!
Funny thing is, my first exposure to Sailor Moon was when they aired the commercials for the toys in the summer of 1995. When I first saw the commercial, I said, "hold on a minute! I haven't even heard of these characters, nevermind seen a TV spot for the anime here in the States, and they're advertising the toys?!" I saw the commercial five times, but not one TV spot in the San Francisco Bay Area. Then one Saturday morning in August 1995, I woke up incredibly early and couldn't get back to sleep. So I decided to turn on the TV, my local channel was on the Fox Network, and what came on at 6 am? Sailor Moon... but the show began with the episode titled "The Return of Sailor Moon" -- the start of the Alan and Anne chapter. It was the first and only episode the Fox Network aired at the time. Two months later, I came home early from my community college courses, and decided to go through the channels to see if there was anything interesting to watch. Once I tuned into the UPN Network, which was on our UHF channel, I saw a portion of the episode titled "Match Point for Sailor Moon". Again, no TV spots at all. I discovered the show out of sheer luck.
I used to have 2 VHS of Sailor Moon DiC movies. Sadly it's all gone 😢. Vhs movies lasted longer. It's harder to find them now. Now I don't even have a VCR! I remember every early morning I always get up earlier to watch it before heading to school. I was so happy that they have something I really like on TV! I've gotten so bored from watching Dragon Ball Z.
When I was a little boy I used to watch this VHS along with some of my other wrestling VHS tapes I owned. I remember I used to watch this particular Sailor Moon VHS, my WWF Stone Cold Steve Austin VHS‘s, Austin versus McMahon, and because stone cold said so. I used to watch them all at my cousins house when I was younger. I love Sailor Moon so much! But to be honest I prefer Krystal over the original 1990s English dick dub any day

How the heck did you get the vhs tape, mainly I watch stuff from streaming channels. I remember back in the 6th grade having a sailor moon vhs I found at a yard sale. Times are different this dub is ok but I also like the viz dub.
Because it wasn’t finished for this episode. They actually had a completely different theme composed first (not this one) that would’ve kept the transformation sped up in all episodes. Moon Crystal Power also had one that wasn’t used

I didn’t remember much of the DiC dub, having watched it maybe once or twice back in the day (I was almost 20 and in college when it first aired on YTV), and I’ve been watching the Viz Media redub on the Crave app. The original dub is better than I expected, though I find it weird to hear Luna with a much older voice than in the current dub.
In a way, this approach to redubbing reminds me of what happened to many manga series that were originally loosely translated in French with a flipped Western reading orientation back in the 90s that later got a more faithful translation in the correct right-to-left reading orientation - Magic Knight Rayearth and Dragon Quest: Dai’s Adventure being two such series.

Also, I learned of the infamous mistranslation of the disguise pen from a certain "Zaid Magenta" (while under the "MissAnthropony" name). But seeing the scene in its entirety here, seeing Luna go from saying "It's a very powerful transforming tool." to saying "You say disguise power" made me laugh. I think that kinda contradicts what that mistranslation was saying like they were trying to correct themselves in the Dic dub. lol

Today is Aug 28,2024 on this date back in 95 " A Star is Born " premiered in Canada on YTV at 3:30pm. Watching this made me so happy all the great memories I have about this show comes back all over again!! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!!

Funny thing is, my first exposure to Sailor Moon was when they aired the commercials for the toys in the summer of 1995. When I first saw the commercial, I said, "hold on a minute! I haven't even heard of these characters, nevermind seen a TV spot for the anime here in the States, and they're advertising the toys?!" I saw the commercial five times, but not one TV spot in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Then one Saturday morning in August 1995, I woke up incredibly early and couldn't get back to sleep. So I decided to turn on the TV, my local channel was on the Fox Network, and what came on at 6 am? Sailor Moon... but the show began with the episode titled "The Return of Sailor Moon" -- the start of the Alan and Anne chapter. It was the first and only episode the Fox Network aired at the time.
Two months later, I came home early from my community college courses, and decided to go through the channels to see if there was anything interesting to watch. Once I tuned into the UPN Network, which was on our UHF channel, I saw a portion of the episode titled "Match Point for Sailor Moon". Again, no TV spots at all. I discovered the show out of sheer luck.

I used to have 2 VHS of Sailor Moon DiC movies. Sadly it's all gone 😢. Vhs movies lasted longer. It's harder to find them now. Now I don't even have a VCR! I remember every early morning I always get up earlier to watch it before heading to school. I was so happy that they have something I really like on TV! I've gotten so bored from watching Dragon Ball Z.

When I was a little boy I used to watch this VHS along with some of my other wrestling VHS tapes I owned. I remember I used to watch this particular Sailor Moon VHS, my WWF Stone Cold Steve Austin VHS‘s, Austin versus McMahon, and because stone cold said so. I used to watch them all at my cousins house when I was younger. I love Sailor Moon so much! But to be honest I prefer Krystal over the original 1990s English dick dub any day

Does the vhs only have one episode on it?
This VHS has two episodes titled “A Moon Star is Born” and “Talk Radio”.
How the heck did you get the vhs tape, mainly I watch stuff from streaming channels. I remember back in the 6th grade having a sailor moon vhs I found at a yard sale. Times are different this dub is ok but I also like the viz dub.

Because it wasn’t finished for this episode. They actually had a completely different theme composed first (not this one) that would’ve kept the transformation sped up in all episodes. Moon Crystal Power also had one that wasn’t used
